Story
Hera is a stunning girl with the most gorgeous markings who was found living behind a barbershop with her five kittens. She was an amazing mama who is quite young herself - our vet estimates no older than 2 years old - but now all her kittens have been adopted, and she’s hoping for a forever home of her own. Hera is as playful as a young kitten but is also good about keeping herself entertained so doesn’t pester you or get into trouble if you’re otherwise occupied. ;) She has the most unique striped whiskers and trilling meow, and she loves to talk. She will run to greet you when you come home and loves to make figure-eights around your feet, chirping in her unique little voice. She gently head butts you when she wants attention, but does need an owner who understands cat language, as she is the type to want a particular number of pets at any given time. ;) Hera is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, flea-free, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. She's also just had a dental because she had some broken teeth (including a canine) from her life on the streets - it looked like she tried to bite something too hard. :( Email meoworneverrescue@gmail.com and/or complete an application at meowornever.org/adopt to learn more and schedule a meet-and-greet!

Story
How this pet arrived: Noa was brought in by a community member on July 5, 2024.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Noa, a pint-sized fluffball full of sass and spirit. What can we say about this little fluff ball? Does she like pets, not really, does she thoroughly enjoy her own space, absolutely, can you win her over with some tasty churu, quite possibly. She can be hesitant about new faces and places, so she'll need a gentle and patient family to help her feel safe. She is also looking for another social kitty in the home to show her the ropes. Noa dreams of a serene home without the hustle and bustle of young children or dogs. Noa is a huge fan of treats - it's definitely the way to her heart! If you're ready to earn her trust, we're hoping that Noa will reward you with sweetness and loyal companionship! To adopt Noa, bring a secure cat carrier to our Oceanside Campus today.Shy/Fearful Cat: Noa requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Email for details: Amelia is available for adoption in a foster home. If you're interested in adopting, please email us at adoptoceanside@sdhumane.org and provide a good callback number. How this pet arrived: Amelia was brought in by her previous owner on September 12, 2024.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Amelia, a sweet senior cat who is still full of playful energy - in between her naps of course. Amelia is an independent kitty who likes attention on her own terms. She loves treats, cuddling, chatting and a lap to sit on. Though she arrived a little underweight, her love of food is helping her bounce back. Amelia has lived with a dog before and handled it well, and with a slow introduction, she may do okay with another cat. She would also be perfectly content as your one and only. This lovely lady is ready to be pampered and treated like the queen she is in her golden years! If you're interested in gaining a gentle, devoted companion, email us about Amelia today! Story
How this pet arrived: Excelsior was brought in by his previous owner on September 28, 2024. Why this pet is the one for you:Introducing Excelsior, a gentle soul looking for a patient and loving home. This shy kitty is still adjusting to human companionship, having spent most of his life surrounded by other cats. Excelsior thrives on the bond built through treats, toys, and playtime, so he'll appreciate your efforts to connect over fun activities. It's important not to force interactions; instead, let him come to you at his own pace. With a little time and understanding, you can build a strong, special bond as you earn his trust. Excelsior will need to go to a home with an established, social cat to help him navigate his new environment or be adopted alongside one of his current roommates. If you're ready to provide a safe space for this sweet boy to flourish, Excelsior is waiting to start his next chapter with you! At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home!Shy/Fearful Cat:  This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Story
How this pet arrived: Mr. Bluebell was brought in by his previous owner on August 25, 2024.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Mr. Bluebell, a sweet and timid soul in search of patience and understanding. This fearful feline will need extra time to adjust, so an extended introduction period is essential in helping him feel safe. Mr. Bluebell would benefit from having another cat at home for social support, as he's used to living with multiple feline friends. He would love to have plenty of safe hiding spots and high perches where he can observe his surroundings. Mr. Bluebell's new family should allow him to come out of his shell at his own pace and avoid forcing interactions. Due to his sensitive nature, he'll likely do best in a home without young children or dogs. If you're ready to welcome this sweet boy into your home, come by our Oceanside Campus and adopt him today! Don't forget to bring a secure cat carrier for a safe transport home.Shy/Fearful Cat:  Mr. Bluebell requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about him. Story
How this pet arrived: Ginger was brought in by her previous owner on September 19, 2024. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Ginger! This lovely lady is the red tabby of your dreams! Ginger adores attention, but she prefers it on her own terms - after all, a queen deserves to be treated like one! Ginger can be easily overstimulated at times and requires a cat-savvy household without children - this basically means that even though she loves attention, she can be easily overwhelmed and requires frequent breaks. She would love to sit on your lap and enjoy a movie night, but may not want to be pet the whole time. Ginger would thrive in a home with plenty of space to roam and a big cat tree to relax on. Ginger also has quite the vocal range and isn't shy about letting you know when she wants attention or treats! She's a charming gal and is ready to share that charm with her new family! Don't forget to bring a large, hard-sided cat carrier for a safe journey home! For more information about overexcited cats, please Click here.
