Story
Violet is a sweet and gentle 16-year-old brown tabby that was adopted from AFRP as a kitten, and returned to our care when her guardian had to move to a senior living facility. Violet is a happy, affectionate, talkative and curious cat that will be a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a mellow feline friend. She is a wonderful lap cat and enjoys being near her person. She gets along with other friendly cats and might do okay with a gentle, respectful dog. Give Violet a soft blanket and gentle petting, and she is in kitty heaven! Violet is in good health though she does have a condition known as Chronic Feline Rhinitis. This common condition is likely due to a non-fatal virus she acquired as a kitten. This causes Violet to experience congestion, nasal discharge and sneezing. Potential adopters can rest assured that a cat with chronic rhinitis is safe to have alongside other cats. It's similar to humans having a common cold. It's unlikely to spread to other feline companions. With proper care and management, Violet can lead a happy life alongside her furry friends without posing a risk of making them sick. Scheduling appropriate veterinary check-ups and implementing hygiene practices will help ensure a harmonious and healthy environment for everyone. As a result, Violet's adopter will need to work closely with their veterinarian to monitor Violet's health and prescribe a course of treatment when necessary. Violet will come with low-cost wellness care through AFRP's clinic as a part of her adoption! Violet is currently in foster care. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our required online application.

Story
Introducing Minerva! Minerva, affectionately known as "Minnie," is a sweet and sensitive 5-year-old longhaired tortoiseshell looking for a very patient and understanding adopter experienced in helping shy cats blossom. Minnie lost her lifelong home when her elderly guardian moved to a residence that couldn't accommodate pets. This life change was traumatic for Minnie, and while she is making strides, she needs time and love to fully adjust to new surroundings and people. After a long period of patience and care in her foster home, Minnie finally felt safe enough to enjoy sitting on her foster mom's lap, and now, it's a cherished part of her daily routine. She loves her quiet evening bonding time, purring contentedly as she soaks up the affection. Once she trusts you, Minnie becomes a gentle and loving companion. She's also wonderfully well-mannered, with impeccable litter box habits, a healthy appetite, and excellent grooming skills. Minnie would thrive in a calm, indoor-only home without children. She would be happiest as a single pet but might coexist peacefully with a gentle cat or dog that respects her need for space. Small, cozy areas are her safe havens, though she also enjoys a cat tree or a sunny window to watch the world go by. Minnie adores her hideaway box and may always prefer its comfort when she needs a moment to herself. While she's not a fan of being picked up and will need mild sedation for vet visits, Minnie's quiet charm and gentle spirit make her incredibly rewarding to love. Shy cats like Minnie have so much to offer, and in the right home, she will repay your kindness with a lifetime of gratitude and heartwarming purrs. Minerva is currently in a foster home. A meet and greet can be scheduled once an online application has been submitted and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org today to complete an online application.

Story
Introducing Ziggy! A staff favorite here at AFRP, this handsome senior kitty is on the look-out for his new bachelor's pad. Ziggy was adopted from us back in 2011 and unfortunately found himself back in our care 11 years later when his owner could no longer keep him. Ziggy is looking for a quiet, adult-only home. A large handsome cat, Ziggy is an endearing grumpy old guy. He is looking for a home where he can get love on his terms. He enjoys being petted or played with, but only in moderation. For much of the day, he prefers to nap, observe the yard from his window or catio, or simply coexist with his humans. He can become easily overstimulated by petting or too much activity around him and would do best with an adopter, who has previous experience with cats and can look for signs of overstimulation. He loves playing "chase" with toys, is a cat-tower connoisseur, and enjoys watching the birds out of the window. Ziggy is not very fond of other animals and would do best as the only pet in the home, but he may be able to coexist with another mellow cat or dog. He is on a special diet due to food allergies, this is something that he will have to remain on for the rest of his life. The good news? That doesn't slow Ziggy down! He LOVES his food and he loves his meal-times. If you're looking for an older guy, Ziggy is the one for you! Ziggy is also available to foster if you're not ready to adopt yet! Ziggy is currently in foster care. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved.

Story
Meet Lee! Lee is a beautiful dilute calico who came to us with her two sisters as strays from Hitchcock Road Animal Services. This sweet and gentle girl has a quiet charm that reveals itself with a bit of time and patience. Although Lee is initially shy around new people and places, she is an affectionate and easy companion once settled in. Her shy demeanor doesn't define her; rather, it's an invitation to understand the subtle nuances of her personality. Lee's strength lies in her ability to adapt and thrive in an environment that allows her the space and time she needs to feel secure. Genuinely sweet and gentle, Lee appreciates a calm and supportive atmosphere. If you're looking for a low-key and undemanding friend, Lee is the perfect match. She's the embodiment of grace and tranquility, offering the promise of a deep and meaningful connection when given the opportunity. Despite her rough start in life, Lee has bonded strongly with her sister Jamie. These sisters are a package deal, meaning they're looking for a forever home that will welcome both of them with open arms. What makes Jamie and Lee even more delightful is their playfulness with other friendly kitties! Due to their age and playful behavior, both Jamie and Lee would do best in a home with adult adopters or a family with older children. Positive socialization is a must when it comes to these two kitties! Lee is currently in foster care and meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Story
Introducing Peter Brady! This playful and snuggly kitten was born without eyelids and required a special surgery to fix his eyes. Despite his rough start, with the love and dedication from AFRP's clinic staff and his amazing fosters, Peter is now ready to take on the world! Peter is full of life and energy, always ready to play with toys, chase after anything that moves, and climb to the highest spots he can find! But when he's not in adventure mode, he's a total cuddle bug, happiest when snuggled up with his humans or right beside Bobby. As Peter had limited vision as a kitten, he can be a bit shy and may take some time warming up in new situations but has shown to make amazing progress since having surgery! He's spent quite a bit of time with his brother, Bobby, and is bonded to him so they must be adopted together. They may do just fine in a home with a cat-savvy dog, or other friendly cats but should be introduced to any new animals slowly and overtime. They would love a home with adult adopters or with cat-savvy children over the age of 10! Peter is currently at our adoptions location inside Pet Food Express at the Crossroads in Carmel. An application must be submitted and approved online prior to scheduling a meet and greet.
