He tends to hang back at first and often prefers the comfort of his kennel when the world feels overwhelming. With treats, he’s more comfortable enjoying them once they’ve been set down rather than taken from a hand. But when no one’s looking? Gray’s playful side shines through. Volunteers have caught him batting at toys and having fun outside of his kennel when he feels safe. Play may be the key to helping him gain confidence and learn that people bring good things. Jack is a handsome young gray tabby, approximately 7.5 months old, with striking gold-green eyes and a whole lot of personality. Rescued from the streets at just 7 weeks old, Jack grew up in a loving home before coming to us when his playful energy became too much for a senior dog companion. Jack is affectionate, social, and deeply people-oriented. He loves being held, lap time, forehead kisses, and close contact with his humans. If he wants attention, he will happily let you know, and if you hold your arms out, he will stretch up your legs asking to be picked up. He truly enjoys connection and companionship. Jack has a lot of energy and loves interactive play, especially wand toys, strings, and anything that lets him run, jump, and zoom. After a good play session, he settles nicely into cuddle mode and is content to relax nearby or in your arms. Jack is interested in engaging with other cats and enjoys playtime, though his enthusiasm can sometimes be a bit much for quieter feline companions. The good news is that Jack reads social cues well and will back down respectfully if another cat expresses discomfort. He would likely do best with a confident, playful cat who enjoys interaction, or as an only cat where he can be the center of attention. Submit an online application and an adoption counselor will call you to confirm an appointment. * Batman first joined the PZ family in 2022 as a tiny underage kitten rescued from a busy Bellflower intersection. He was lovingly raised in foster care and later adopted into a wonderful home. Life changed for his adopter, and although a backup guardian stepped in, their resident cat wasn’t willing to accept him. After careful effort, Batman returned to us through no fault of his own. Batman is a handsome, affectionate young adult with striking features and an even more striking personality. Though a little shy at first, he warms up quickly and forms deep, meaningful bonds with his people. Once settled, he’s a social butterfly who loves attention, purrs easily, and often curls up nearby just to be close. He’s mostly relaxed, but he absolutely has playful bursts—especially when it comes to spring toys or games of fetch. Yes, fetch! Batman proudly considers himself part dog. He also loves claiming bags, blankets, and perfectly placed cozy spots as his own. Batman enjoys birdwatching from the window and soaking in fresh air through the screen.
