Story
Meet Ruby! This stunning 1.5 year old Cane Corso/Boxer mix has stolen my heart! She is the definition of joy, forgiveness, and fun! My name is Olga, Director of Behavior at Three Little Pitties Rescue and alongside the behavior team we have been working together to help build Ruby’s confidence after the unknown and known things that have happened to her prior to coming to us. This girl is resilient, she is loving, she is playful, she is loyal, and boy is she smart. Ruby has undergone training (and continues training with our behavior team) and thrives under structure and boundaries. She is all about pleasing the person she loves the most. Even though she has learned her manners at times she gets a little too excited and wants to play with you. We think it's the Boxer in her! As you watch her adoption video you will see we are reminding her of her boundaries! With Ruby, FIRM corrections are a must! What can we say? She’s not even 2 yet! She is still young and full of curiosity and energy. It'd be great if you'd help her keep her skills in tip-top shape as they're very important to her. Ruby is crate trained and will let you know when she needs to go out—no accidents on her watch! You can watch her adoption video here: Ruby loves deep!! She is a special soul! I’m looking for a person who’s as strong-willed as Ruby is and knows a thing or two (okay...maybe 10!) about handling an energetic, sometimes stubborn, power pup like Ruby. Ruby is the perfect training/working dog. Ruby has been trained with an E-collar and it has been a great tool for her. We are looking for a family that is comfortable and knowledgeable in E-Collar training and will continue to use this tool. She does not need it or use it daily. I would be more than happy to answer any questions and provide training tips! The behavior team at Three Little Pitties is here to help Ruby succeed in your home. Ruby can also self entertain, but this comes with/after the stimulation she receives with us daily. She has learned so many great commands like sit, down, stay, release, heel, come, it’s yours, out, and leave it. She has worked on impulse control immensely, as mentioned earlier, she aims to please and bond with her person. Ruby notices when her schedule changes. She is the type of girl that says, “Oh, so does that mean we aren’t following this rule anymore?! Cool!” and tries to see if we don’t have to sit before we eat, or have to sit at doors, or heel when we walk etc. Ruby loves men and women, but she automatically respects men from the moment she meets them. She likes to decide if a woman is assertive enough to provide her the necessary structure or if she is more of a friend. If you put her to work right away, she knows you mean business! You will see a four year old child in the video. That is my son Kobe. Ruby loves Kobe! She has spent a lot of time with him, hanging out with him while he plays, and she quietly gnaws on her toys. She has a way of knowing that a child is just a child! She can be around older kids and teens but due to her need to work, and her tough and rough play style we are looking for a home without children. The great thing is that if there are children in your life, nieces and nephews, friends’ kids, etc she knows how to behave around them. Ruby loves getting her daily exercise and would make the perfect partner for someone who enjoys staying active. We are looking for a home with a backyard. Every day I open the bedroom door and she runs straight down the hall to the back door that leads to the yard and I let her out. She runs, romps and has the time of her life! When she is ready to come in, she gives me a little bark. Ruby wants to be close to me hanging out in the office. If she isn’t ready to come in and I go to call her, she has great recall and comes running. Sometimes she will do a little zoomie circle and then run to me! She will either sit for me to leash her, or she will run straight in the house to the room where she is housed . If you are wondering about car rides...let's just say she will be the one with the floppy tongue in the back window! She is a fantastic car companion. Her favorite way to show affection? Laying her head in your lap or keeping a close watch over you. She loves toys! She loves her stuffies and she knows how to take care of them. Ruby has been with dogs in pack walks, playgroups, and with my small dog Mateo but we are looking for a single dog home for her. We want a family to be able to focus on building the bond and respect between owner and pet and not worry about integrating animals on top of that. She is not a day care, dog park dog either. Most dogs aren’t and that's okay! Her story started in Rosharon, where I was chasing after a truck, hoping for a friend. The kind people in the truck gave her some food but couldn’t keep her. Thankfully, a woman who works closely with 3LP saved her without even meeting her first. She was so lonely that she wasn't the happiest pup at first. Ruby has received bad training that really hurt her confidence and we have worked hard to undo all of that training! Ruby is finally ready for a forever family. Sure: it's been a journey figuring out where her piece of the puzzle fits, but we think we are getting close to finding it. If you’re ready for a loyal, athletic companion who’ll be by your side through all your adventures, Ruby is your girl. She can’t wait to meet you! I know that the right person is out there for Ruby. She deserves to have all the great things that the right people and the right home environment have to offer. This is the best part of rescue! Stories like this that have that happy ever ending! Story
She may not wear a tiara or look like she would love frilly skirt but she is still our Princess. A tomboyish princess but one none the less. Let’s get to know this girl! First off, yes she is a big girl and the term gentle-giant is used often to describe her. She knows the best fun is had with kids, they are happy and full of fun! Her gentle-giant nature can be especially seen with kids, she is mindful of her size and ready with kisses and love at the first sign of a skinned knee or hurt feelings. As dog-lovers we absolutely adore when a big dog like her is sweet on kids! Her love of tagging along makes her a great fit for the 5+ kiddos. Estimated to be 3 years old, and weighing in at 81 pounds, we believe that Princess is a Cane Corso but, despite what we know, we cannot say with 100% certainty her breed or age. Fall in love with Princess here: https://youtu.be/ymECBn5I9DY?feature=shared Princess is absolutely gorgeous, with the signature blocky head of a Cane Corso and a muscular body. She has a beautiful black coat that almost appears to be layered on top of a brindle coat, in the sunshine she’s practically gold. Add on that she knows the power of eye-contact and she uses her golden eyes to really connect with you. It is easy to see and feel how much she values her people and that loving bond. She has such a lovely, gentle and slow presence, that feels comforting to have near. Big dogs often get a reputation for being hard to walk on leash but not Princess, her slow nature really shines as she walks gracefully by your side at the pace of Grandma on a Sunday morning. When she passes dogs she is polite, offering a nose to nose greeting if it’s natural and otherwise continuing on. Off leash, she is polite with other dogs but most dogs are intimated by her size so she doesn’t always get the sweet, playful welcome some dogs do, so she approaches slow and steady. Princess has had the joy of spending her days at a doggy daycare in a variety of playgroups. This has really helped highlight her “type.” She is in the phase of life where the rowdy busy energy of puppies or wild-ones is not for her. A love-connection of hers that we all loved was with a male pocket bully type- short, squatty, with a wheezy moment of zooming before its nap time. That explains it all really. She does not have to have a doggy-friend though, being your one-and-only would be just fine! Princess is actively learning commands which is so fun- she genuinely glows when she learns something new and she knows it. Between how smart she is, her eagerness to please, and her love of treats, she is set-up for easy training. This girl is also so good in the car, granted she is big so maybe not the two-seater type, more like an SUV gal riding in the backseat. When it is time for adventure or errands, Princess will happily wait for you to leash her up and get the door, such a lady. If a big ol’ loving lady resting her head on your lap is what you are looking for this girl is made for you. These gorgeous, gentle giant types go fast, so apply today! Princess is ready and waiting for you! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/674a2d37524f109977016141 Questions? Story
Halo is a very sweet dog. She loves our kids and us and when she gets excited her little tail starts wagging. She will bark when unkown people come to door. She likes to chase cats but hasn't hurt one. She gets along with our other dogs, but at times becomes territorial over her food and toys when my other dogs are nearby. I can no longer keep her and my English Mastiff together at any time. She cannot be allowed around chickens and or small indoor pets such as guinea pigs. She should be the only dog in a house due to uncertainty around other animals. If she was my only dog I would keep her as she is such a sweet dog to us, but unfortunately I can't keep her and my English Mastiff together. She is still in-tact because I cannot afford to get her spayed due to an economic hardship during the last year.

Story
Holy lover-girl! Do not be fooled by her size, this is a lap-dog/puppy/angel baby. She is soft and snuggly like a teddy bear so when she climbs up to sit on your lap you will be absolutely wrapped in warm goodness. Don’t worry, she knows she is a bigger girl so she has learned that only about half of her fits in the average lap so she will either give you the front half-paws and head, or the tail-end like she is sitting on Santas lap. If you only have a few minutes to fall in love- watch her video but I can sum it up- Lacey is loyal, cuddly, innocent and silly, and a friend to all from dogs to cats and all the people. Lacey is about 2 years old, 75 lbs, and is just giving golden-good devotion. We cannot guarantee breed or age given she is a rescue but we believe she is an Anatolian/ Lab mix. Like so many breed mixes similar to her, Lacey creates a strong bond with her people and falls hard. She is the most loyal and loving pup and anyone who lands in her loving radar will never wonder if she is 100% heart and soul, their #1 girl. There is nothing better than the devoted, powerful love of a dog and Lacey comes with that and so much more. Lacey has been fortunate to wait our her days until adoption in a loving foster home where they praise her outgoing, silly, and loving ways. They have shared that she is both house and crate trained, has joined them for Fancy Footwork classes where she has learned all the best leash manners, and knows a few basic commands, while always being ready to learn more. She is treat motivated so training is an enjoyable process and she is a quick learner. It was mentioned before that Lacey is a friend to all and she really showed us how true that is when she was introduced to dogs- not only was she fast friends with all the dogs she met, she tried hard to make a friend out of the donkey next door. If the fence wasn’t there I think her play bows and barks would have gotten him bouncing around with her too. Lacey doesn’t need another dog to be fulfilled, remember she loves her people, but she would enjoy other dogs and would do great with a dog of similar energy. We would describe her energy level as medium with very brief moments of medium/high, that amounts to about 30 seconds of chase or a tumbling wrestle with a buddy. The beauty is she comes back to baseline easily so a high-energy, non-stop friend would overwhelm her- she knows the power of chilling out. She currently resides with a crew of other pups and does great. She especially likes to play with her basset hound foster brother- his ears are fun to pull on! Lacey loves to chase and does play with some toys- bring on anything squeaky or stuffies! Get this gal some fun new chew toys to welcome her to the family and she will be on cloud 9! During Lacey's cat test she did great! She does not live with any cats but has met several on different occasions and has showed the same respectful curiosity. She is unbothered if they give her a swat and understands that means they want a little space. Whether they swat or not, she checks them out and then walks off. A dog savvy cat would be a great fit for her- they can set the rules and she will follow them. Lacey does not live with kids but when introduced to them she was great. Given her size and love for close, cuddly love older kids 10+ would be best for her. Lacey is a bit like a kid herself and would enjoy having a little friend to run around with so knowing her size wont intimidate or knock over a little one is key. Let’s talk dream home- Lacey dreams of a home with space for zoomies and rounds of chase in the yard. We can only imagine how happy she would be to live the farm-dog life. A playful, confident, tag-along girl who looks real good in a truck, its the stuff of dreams for more than just Lacey. You will have to do two things though, get the car door- she is a lady after all, and maybe give her a little boost. Now that is do-able and well worth it for her. It happens, but Lacey has truly stolen the hearts of everyone here and we cannot wait for you to know why! What my friends at OHS say about me:I am very cute but have proven myself to be quite the exuberant pup!I am easily overstimulated, which means I can get mouthy and worked up. I will need positive outlets for my energy and a calm environment.Mental enrichment activities are a great way to entertain me and work my brain.Resource Guarding: I have a history of guarding my people, food, toys and/or bedding from other animals or people.Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.I am just a baby! I will need guidance and patience - plus regular play time with you! Taking a training class will help us bond and help me become a model canine citizen. To prepare for your meet and greet, please take a moment to learn more about puppy ownership here!
