Story
Meet Brando! He is a 4-year-old Mastiff mix who is certainly unaware of his 40kg size! Brando is a curious and inquisitive boy who loves to explore his environment and everything in it. He also loves to be a couch potato on rainy days... or any day. Don’t let Brando’s size fool you, he can be the biggest couch potato there is. While he does love going out and exploring, he is just as happy to lounge around on the couch with his people. Movie night? Brando is in!Brando is always curious of his surroundings. He loves going for sniff-walks and just taking in the scents around him. He also loves a good view.Because Brando is unaware of just how big he is, a home with no children or older children would be best suited for this big boy.Brando has just had entropion surgery on both of his eyes, but that is not slowing him down one bit. Even though Brando is still recovering from surgery, he is looking for his forever home! If you are interested in our boy, please contact Toronto Animal Services West Region at (416) 338-PAWS (7297) between 10:30AM - 6:30PM for more information about Brando!

Not good with kids, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter,
Story
Avery was surrendered to our care because her previous family moved to a home with stairs. Avery is blind, deaf and has orthopedic issues. That may sound like a lot, but she is truly the most resilient girl. Avery is a staff favourite and is super playful, goofy and cuddly. She will do just about anything for a treat and has the cutest pep in her step. Avery likes to walk and enjoys the outdoors, but also appreciates a comfy nap. Due to her visual and hearing impairment she can be reactive and lunge when meeting new people or dogs. It’s important her adopter takes things slow for introductions. Avery needs consistency and to feel safe in these situations. Dog Tales will provide her family with training before and after she is adopted to ensure a smooth transition. Her family would need to visit frequently to get to know each other. Avery’s ideal home would be quiet with no children. She can potentially live with a social, non-confrontational dog. They would need to meet several times to ensure they get along.

Story
Meet Ashton! Ashton is a huge goofy boy just looking for his perfect forever family to go on adventures with and get all the love and snuggles! Ashton was found abandoned on a rural road near a minor highway with a female mastiff, presumed breeding partner. He was unclaimed at the local shelter for over two months before being scooped up into rescue... we can't believe he never got any attention in the shelter! He arrived in rescue the first week of September. Ashton is a sweet older gentleman with plenty of energy, spunkiness and booty wiggles! He is a curious boy and loves to sniff and explore everything on his walks. He enjoys the car, He can pull on leash if he doesn't have a strong handler, so he is looking for a confident adopter that won't let him push them around. Once he realized that he can't push his weight around, he is very attentive and engaged! We will be working on conditioning him to the transitional slip leash to clean up his leash skills. Ashton arrived at the shelter with another dog that he enjoyed playing with a big bouncy play style. He is currently being fostered with 3 male dogs and does well with them. He has a respectful passive introduction, and walks well with them... even doing some very big zoomies in the field beside his foster home! Ashton hasn't been officially tested with cats, however he does have a strong prey drive for animals on walks and had a very strong drive to the bunnies at the shelters, and likely will not do well in a home with cats or small animals. He has started noticing the chickens living at his foster home, so we will be working on handler focus and ignoring small fluttering things outside. :) Ashton can be pushy if he can get away with it, and would do best with a confident adopter familiar with power breeds. While he is good with strangers, he can jump up and push his weight around if he can get away it. With confident people who don't put up with his rambunctious behaviour, Ashton is affectionate, charming, focused and goofy! He loves playing tug and he loves getting treats for doing tricks! He can demand bark treats and be grabby with them, but is learning that patience pays off more than pushiness. He is a smart boy and learning his marker commands quickly. We can't wait to learn more about him! Summary: -Good with dogs, passive -Untested with cats, likely not good -High prey drive, intense with small animals -Untested with kids, likely friendly, but a bit pushy and can easily knock them over. -Friendly with strangers -Medium energy, loves to adventure, calms down inside. -Excellent in crate -Excellent in car -Pushy if he can get away with it, would do best with confident handler. -Can pull heavily on leash, working on leash skills -A bit sloppy after eating/drinking, but not a drooler without motivation! Ashton is on intake hold while we get to know him better. He will be available for meet and greets after September 20th. We can process applications while he is on hold, but want to get to know him better before setting up any meet and greets.

Story
🐾 Meet Sybil! 🐾 Sybil is a sweet and gentle 7-month-old Anatolian Shepherd mix, currently tipping the scales at just 9 kilograms. Although she's petite now, she's expected to reach a maximum weight of around 20 kilograms as she grows. Sybil's early experiences have left her feeling a bit uncertain about the great outdoors, as she has spent much of her time at a clinic in Turkey. However, with patient guidance and positive reinforcement, we believe she will blossom into a confident explorer! This lovely girl is eager to find a forever home with adopters who understand her timid nature and are committed to helping her build confidence through gentle socialization. Despite her initial shyness, Sybil has shown a remarkable affinity for humans and is quick to shower her affection on anyone who offers her kindness. Not only is Sybil a friend to humans, but she also gets along famously with cats and other dogs, making her a delightful addition to any pet-loving household. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a precious pup who is waiting to bloom into her full potential, Sybil could be the perfect match for you. Sybil can fly to Toronto or Vancouver when she finds her forever home! If you are interested in adopting her please apply; https://www.cheers2paws.org/dog-adoption-form
