Story
Avery senses energy. And is drawn to the kind, calm type. That makes sense! Being blind and deaf, Avery relies mostly on touch and scent to find safety in her world. The kennel environment is busy and Avery is keenly tuned into the stress of the other dogs, which just isn’t great for her system. And yet … Once Avery recognizes you and your energy meets her standard … lookout! Then you’ve got the most playful, goofy, cuddly, high steppin’ girl ever! She’s a staff favourite because she’s such a sweet snuggler and treat lover! We’re looking for a family with no children to take the time to connect with Avery so that she can learn to trust their energy. Can you imagine the purity of the love that can be experienced in this relationship? She can’t see you or hear you … but will still love you. She was surrendered to us by her family when they moved to a house with stairs which were a hazard for her orthopedic issues. A home with no stairs is required. She loves to walk and return to the comfort of long naps. She likes other dogs but can be reactive at first, understandably. Another steady dog in the home would be a possibility, provided lots of visits to Dog Tales come first. Due to her visual and hearing impairment she can be reactive and lunge when meeting new people or dogs. It’s important her adopter takes things slow for introductions. Avery needs consistency and to feel safe in these situations. Dog Tales will provide her family with training before and after she is adopted to ensure a smooth transition. Her family would need to visit frequently to get to know each other.

Story
Hello, my name is Lily! I am a compact 3 year old Cane Corso (30kg), with a story to tell. I was found as a stray and brought to a shelter by a Good Samaritan. I was never claimed. I was adopted out by the shelter to a great home, however I started exhibiting chasing behaviours with the adopter’s cat, and proved that my energy level was too much for them to care for. Sadly, I was returned to the shelter- along with my torn cruciate ligament in my right knee and a suspected tear in my left knee. I spent several more months at the shelter, and due to my injuries, I had no adoption interest and was facing euthanasia. Miraculously, TEAM Dog Rescue came to my rescue! They pulled me out of the shelter and helped me get through my first knee surgery. I passed with flying colours and am now making remarkable progress. They will pay for my other surgery too when the time comes, that is how lucky I am to have been in their care. Right now, I am healed and back to my usual self – happy, cuddly, loving. I’m a very grateful dog, I love to love my family members, and I’ll be following you all around the house! I’m loyal to the couch, but am also goofy, playful, and energetic. I will say I’m a fantastic chewer – the harder the bone or dog treat is, the more fun for me! I am extremely food motivated so I will show you all my good girl tricks for a treat! Despite the pain and setbacks, I am one strong and resilient dog, and I’m finally ready to start the next chapter of my life. My ideal home will include no cats or other small animals, a fenced yard and lots of love. I am great with humans and dogs. I am house-trained and crate-trained, and sleep in my crate every night. I am hoping to find a kind-hearted and dedicated adopter who can take me in, and will be ready to support me through my second knee surgery journey one more time when the time comes. TEAM Dog Rescue will help us every step of the way. After all that I’ve overcome, I deserve a chance at a happy, healthy life with a loving family to lean on. My mom says that everyone who meets me just adores me, so here’s hoping that my forever family is out there looking for me. For any questions, please contact my foster mom and adoption coordinator Jasna at adopt@teamdogrescue.ca.
