Story
Meet Ashton! Ashton is a huge goofy boy just looking for his perfect forever family to go on adventures with and get all the love and snuggles! Ashton is a big strong happy guy looking for his forever home, preferably a confident home with power breed experience! While Ashton is incredibly well behaved and a home with power breed experience will probably find him easy, he has had a few meet and greets where his size and excitement for visitors have startled potential adopters and they've felt he is too much for him. Ashton is a sweet middle-aged gentleman with plenty of energy, spunkiness and booty wiggles! He is a curious boy and loves to sniff and explore everything on his walks. He walks well on leash on a transitional slip leash, and is doing well with off leash training at his rural foster home. He enjoys the car, he is up for any kind of rural hike or public event, and loves snuggles on the couch! Ashton is an incredibly balanced boy and is easy-going with whatever his foster family decides to do! In his foster home, Ashton is generally low energy, affectionate and respectful. He is good with strangers, but can be overstimulated when visitors come and give him attention, and does best on leash so he can't jump up on them. He loves to rub up for attention, but due to his size often pushes people or moves furniture by accident.. If ignored by new people, he ignores them. Ashton arrived at the shelter with another dog that he enjoyed playing with a big bouncy play style. He is currently being fostered with 3 male dogs and does well with them. He has a respectful passive introduction, and walks well with them... even doing some very big zoomies in the field beside his foster home! Ashton mostly ignores other dogs on walks, and hasn't cared about dogs barking at him, or passing through a busy dog festival. Ashton hasn't been officially tested with cats, however he does have a strong prey drive for our chickens and had a very strong drive to the bunnies at the shelters, and likely will not do well in a home with cats or small animals. He has made progress with ignoring our chickens and may have potential, however we do not know at this point. He is good at ignoring other dogs on walks and hasn't been too focused on squirrels. Ashton tries to be a gentle giant, but is ultimately too big, strong, and likes to lean on people. He can be fast if he wants to be, and is a bit clumsy, so he doesn't quite get the title of gentle giant. He has no intent for accidentally hurting anyone, but has caused a few injuries in his foster home through being too happy, affectionate and clumsy. He is looking for a confident adopter who can laugh off any accidents, advocate for him, and not put him in any situations where his size or goofy antics can intimate others. ASHTON SUMMARY: 6yo (m) Cane Corso 100lbs -Good with dogs (proper introduction would be smart) -Unknown with cats (initially not good with chickens in his foster home, but now ignores them. Cat test pending). -Best with older kids, he's a big clumsy boy -Good with strangers, affectionate, but can jump up -Good on transitional slip leash, very strong on flat collar -Medium energy: up for adventures, happy to snore on the couch at home -Making excellent progress on off-leash training -Excellent in car, loves road trips -Good food drive, loves training -Takes treats roughly, best to use open hand approach. -Good for manipulations, ear cleaning, etc. -Non-vocal -Very affectionate, likes to weave through legs and lean on people. Ashton was taken in by our local Animal Services after being found abandoned on a rural road with a female mastiff about the same age. He sat in the shelter without any interest for over 2 months before being pulled into rescue – we’re so happy we could get him into a home environment while he waits for his forever home! Ashton is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed and has tested negative for tick/mosquito borne illnesses. Adoption Inquiries: molsonsfosterfriends@gmail.com

Story
Meet Brando! He is a 4-year-old Mastiff mix who is certainly unaware of his 40kg size! Brando is a curious and inquisitive boy who loves to explore his environment and everything in it. He also loves to be a couch potato on rainy days... or any day. Don’t let Brando’s size fool you, he can be the biggest couch potato there is. While he does love going out and exploring, he is just as happy to lounge around on the couch with his people. Movie night? Brando is in!Brando is always curious of his surroundings. He loves going for sniff-walks and just taking in the scents around him. He also loves a good view.Because Brando is unaware of just how big he is, a home with no children or older children would be best suited for this big boy.Brando has just had entropion surgery on both of his eyes, but that is not slowing him down one bit. Even though Brando is still recovering from surgery, he is looking for his forever home! If you are interested in our boy, please contact Toronto Animal Services West Region at (416) 338-PAWS (7297) between 10:30AM - 6:30PM for more information about Brando!

Story
Avery senses energy. And is drawn to the kind, calm type. That makes sense! Being blind and deaf, Avery relies mostly on touch and scent to find safety in her world. The kennel environment is busy and Avery is keenly tuned into the stress of the other dogs, which just isn’t great for her system. And yet … Once Avery recognizes you and your energy meets her standard … lookout! Then you’ve got the most playful, goofy, cuddly, high steppin’ girl ever! She’s a staff favourite because she’s such a sweet snuggler and treat lover! We’re looking for a family with no children to take the time to connect with Avery so that she can learn to trust their energy. Can you imagine the purity of the love that can be experienced in this relationship? She can’t see you or hear you … but will still love you. She was surrendered to us by her family when they moved to a house with stairs which were a hazard for her orthopedic issues. A home with no stairs is required. She loves to walk and return to the comfort of long naps. She likes other dogs but can be reactive at first, understandably. Another steady dog in the home would be a possibility, provided lots of visits to Dog Tales come first. Due to her visual and hearing impairment she can be reactive and lunge when meeting new people or dogs. It’s important her adopter takes things slow for introductions. Avery needs consistency and to feel safe in these situations. Dog Tales will provide her family with training before and after she is adopted to ensure a smooth transition. Her family would need to visit frequently to get to know each other.

Stella is a big girl who loves to eat and will always take treats! She can be around other dogs and enjoys their company. She walks well on leash and enjoys going for walks. It can take her time to be comfortable with new people, but once she warms up she enjoys her person's company.
