Story
Tobias (Toby) - Male Cane Corso Age: 6 years  Good with: Cats: Yes Dogs: Yes, with a slow intro Kids: Yes, however he likes to use his weight to get attention. Otherwise, he is a gentle boy Location: Saint Charles, MO Weight: 120 lbs Toby came to us from a cruelty case. He is the sweetest old man. He loves to just sit by you and get pets. He does fine being left alone, but prefers to be with people. He has met the neighbor dog through the fence, but has mostly ignored him. He has done fantastic with all the people he has met. He loves the car, and every time we go outside he runs to the gate hoping for a car ride. He is very chill but does throw his weight around when he wants attention The perfect adopter is patient and kind. Toby will need lots of reassurance to regain his confidence and to know that he is safe. His perfect adopter would be someone that can be home and with him most of the time. He seems to be ok with other dogs, but doesn't need a home with one. He is not big long periods outside, so would be happy with a daily walk. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Transportation from the foster home to the adopter is the responsibility of the adopter to coordinate. Just Giants does not adopt outside of the continental US. To apply to adopt from Just Giants Rescue, you can visit https://justgiants.org/adopt/ to fill out an application. All dogs adopted from Just Giants Rescue are up to date on shots, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Some exceptions may apply. Story
Dog's Name: Gracie Location : Fort Atkinson, WIAge or Date of Birth: July 2021 (estimate)Gender: FemaleBreed: Cane CorsoFoster Dog's Weight: 70 lbs Gracie gets along with:Dogs?: All Dogs Needs a slow introduction to other dogsCats?: UnknownKids?: Older kids, needs slow introduction Gracie is a new momma who is still getting her bearings and settled into her new role. With such she is still balancing her emotions with other dogs and strangers. Right now she prefers only company of her foster momma and occasional sniffs through the gate of her foster sister (dog) but is not a fan of her foster brother (dog). Prior to giving birth she was skeptical of children so she will need to be re-evaluated after her pregnancy hormones have subsided.  Gracie is still working on her developing herself after becoming a momma, she currently is still having some stranger aggression with growling/barking as well as aggression with male dogs. She intermittently shows aggression towards her foster sister when she is around the puppies, but continues to show improvement with this. As expected with her rough start to life she does have some food aggression which is alleviated with separate feeding. She loves to be pampered and snuggled, but also loves to play with her foster sister. Gracie is a very loyal girl despite her history. She loves to cuddle with her foster mom but also play with her foster sister. She remains not a fan of her foster brother but is working on her aggression towards  him. She does at time show good/treat aggression. Who would be her perfect family? Despite her traumaatized past, Gracie continues to listen very well and would not necessarily require a fenced in yard if supervised. She does have a prey drive for squirrels and birds though. The perfect adopter wouldn’t have any young children as the few interaction she has had with them so far have shown aggressive/targeting behaviors towards the child (staring/ slow predatory walk followed by attempted lunge) and female dogs that are more submissive, however this may change as her puppies become more independent. It would be beneficial for her to be adopted by a home that is familiar with or a previous owner of guardian breeds and their temperment as Gracie is a combo of many of those breeds.  Gracie is also very strong for her size. Ideally she would be in a home without dogs and no children. She doesn’t need a fence but does need to be supervised as she does have a high prey drive. Her ideal owner would be someone familiar with guardian breeds as she is very smart and strong. Foster Home Name : Barnhart, MODog's Name: LincolnAge or Date of Birth: 12/15/2023Gender: MaleBreed: Cane CorsoFoster Dog's Weight: 70 Lincoln gets Along With:Dogs?: All DogsCats?: All CatsKids?: All Kids Lincoln is a slightly timid, loving, velcro, ball of energy. He is still a curious puppy, so he likes to find things to chew. He loves doing zoomies inside and outside. He gets along very well with other dogs of all sizes, genders, and personalities. He loves to have a furry friend to run and relax with. He loves all people, but takes a couple minutes to get comfortable. Once he knows you he will be your shadow and give you 100% of his love and trust. Lincoln is timid of new people due to not having any contact with people for the first 6 months of his life. He takes some time to warm up to new people. He will need someone who will work with him slowly to gain his trust. Once he trust you he will be your very best friend and personal side kick. He is now crate trained and goes in as soon as I yell treat. Lincoln is very food motivated.  Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Story
(Arlo) Arlington - Male Cane Corso Age: 2 Years Gets along with: Cats: Needs slow introduction Dogs: Yes- tested with female Kids: Yes, older kids Location: Chicago, IL Weight: 95.1 lbs Arlo is a calm and affectionate dog. He loves riding in the car and we have been having play dates with my boyfriend's neutered female Pit/Border Collie mix, Tulip. He loves splashing in the pond and chasing frogs. He's great at fetching a ball and releases it easily. He sometimes forgets how big he is and has startled Tulip with some rougher play than she likes, but he does immediately back off with verbal prompts or when she growls. He's quite the athlete and runs circles around her and jumps completely over her. He does paw at you for attention, and we're still working on changing that into a shake command, but he will sit and lie down pretty reliably on command. We're still working on his introduction to my cat, FaeFae. He's getting much better at ignoring her, but we still haven't had contact and there is always a barrier between them.He still gets startled at sudden noises, and can get a little over-excited when someone signals play with him (like knocking into your legs trying to roughhouse). Altogether, he's a very calm dog in most situations. Arlo needs a family familiar with large dogs. He would love to have a dog sibling and a fencedyard to play in, but he does well on a long lead when we play in my unfenced yard. I think he would eventually be ok with cats, but still seems like he would love to chase them. Older children who would not startle him and are aware of his size would be best. He loves attention and cuddles, so he would be a great couch companion. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Story
Foster Home Location: Wood River, ILDog's Name: SparkyAge or Date of Birth: 12/15/2023 (estimated)Gender: MaleBreed: Cane Corso Who does Sparky get along with? Other Dogs?: Yes loves other dogs Cats?: Really likes tolerant cats, wags and wants to play but is very polite. If they hiss he gets scared and runs away. Kids?: Has not met any children Training?: He is crate trained, he does well coming when called, 90% potty trained just a few accidents at night if I don't hear him. Sparky is making progress slowly but surely. He is crate trained and is almost completely potty trained aside from a few pee accidents that were my fault for not hearing him get up. He made some new friends at work this week. He met a little Lab named Ripley who he adored and he started to feel more comfortable with a few of our kennel staff and Beans' (His best friend) mom Marissa and would approach her and allow her to pet him. He loves to play with other dogs and he and Kaiser will play chase and wrestle in the backyard all day if you let them. He is not a big fan of the heat and will chill out in the shade after awhile. Once he warms up to you he is truly the biggest sweetheart. If you go, he wants to come too. If you are sitting or laying he wants to be cuddled up next to you. If there are no people to cuddle he cuddles with Kaiser on a dog bed or the couch. He is just a lovely little guy. He loves stuffies and balls especially if they bounce crazy and he can chase them. He plays fetch really well and will bring the ball back to you and drop it. He is still very shy and does take time to warm up to new people. He is still pretty quiet and only really barks if he is outside with just me or if Kaiser is not around to bark for him. He is such a sweet gentle little guy. I know he will be the perfect addition to someone's family but will definitely need a dog friend to show him the ropes  Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters.
