Story
Dog's Name: Gracie Location : Fort Atkinson, WIAge or Date of Birth: July 2021 (estimate)Gender: FemaleBreed: Cane Corso MixFoster Dog's Weight: 83 lbs Gracie gets along with:Dogs?: All Dogs - Needs a slow introduction to other dogsCats?: Unknown but unlikely due to prey driveKids?:  Older kids, needs slow introduction Gracie came from unfortunate circumstances where she was used for breeding. She had her last litter of puppies in August, 2024.  She had some aggression that developed with pregnancy towards other dogs, but continues to make progress e ch day as the puppies get older and find their furever homes..  Gracie is a very loving girl that wants nothing more than to be by her humans side. She is her foster mom's shadow at all times and loves to cuddle on her lap as well as play with her foster siblings.  However, when they play...they play quite rough, but not aggressive toward one another.  Gracie is working at regaining her trust. She is still timid and scared of the world from her traumatizing history and does get scared when someone talks loud or yells at her. We are still working on basic commands like lay down, but has almost mastered sit and come. She does go to "her room" on command, which is a spare bedroom in her fosters home. Gracie is very fond of chewing, especially boxes/paper products (toilet paper, paper towel, etc.).  If left unsupervised with items around the home, she may or may not chew onthem. She also likes to play with toys with her foster siblings, but typically only plays with interactive toys on her own (puzzle treat toys, etc.). Gracie does have a pray drive and attempts to  catch birds and squirrels, but leaves them when told to leave it. Her perfect adopter would be someone who is patient with her and her training.  She is very smart and obedient once you gain her trust. Ideally her adopter will have experience or know about her guardian breed tendencies. Gracie has not had good interactions with kids so far, but could potentially be around them with continued training.  For now it would be best for her to be in a kid free household.  She does well with other large non-dominant dogs or will also thrive independently with exercise. She does not require a fence, but would require supervision given her prey drive and guardian tendencies. Story
(Arlo) Arlington - Male Cane Corso Age: 2 Years Gets along with: Cats: Needs slow introduction Dogs: Yes- tested with female Kids: Yes, older kids Location: Chicago, IL Weight: 95.1 lbs Arlo is a calm and affectionate dog. He loves riding in the car and we have been having play dates with my boyfriend's neutered female Pit/Border Collie mix, Tulip. He loves splashing in the pond and chasing frogs. He's great at fetching a ball and releases it easily. He sometimes forgets how big he is and has startled Tulip with some rougher play than she likes, but he does immediately back off with verbal prompts or when she growls. He's quite the athlete and runs circles around her and jumps completely over her. He does paw at you for attention, and we're still working on changing that into a shake command, but he will sit and lie down pretty reliably on command. We're still working on his introduction to my cat, FaeFae. He's getting much better at ignoring her, but we still haven't had contact and there is always a barrier between them.He still gets startled at sudden noises, and can get a little over-excited when someone signals play with him (like knocking into your legs trying to roughhouse). Altogether, he's a very calm dog in most situations. Arlo needs a family familiar with large dogs. He would love to have a dog sibling and a fencedyard to play in, but he does well on a long lead when we play in my unfenced yard. I think he would eventually be ok with cats, but still seems like he would love to chase them. Older children who would not startle him and are aware of his size would be best. He loves attention and cuddles, so he would be a great couch companion. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Story
Martha - Female Cane Corso Age: 3 Years Gets along with: Cats: No Dogs: Yes Kids: Unknown Location: Chicago, IL Weight: 85 lbs Martha is a giant bundle of love- she wants nothing more than to lay in your lap and cuddle. She enjoys long, leisurely walks with plenty of time to check out all the good sniff spots, and playing chase with her foster sister. She does great in her crate, both during the day and overnight and lets you know when she needs to go outside with a gentle paw placed on your lap. Martha is still a bit skittish around new people, but once she gets used to someone, she is happy to make friends. Martha would do just fine with a first time giant owner, provided they are strong enough to handle her. Her perfect adopter would be someone who is willing to give her lots of love and attention- she wants to be in your lap as often as possible. While she would certainly enjoy a fenced yard, she is doing fine without one. So far she has gotten along with every dog she has met, but another dog in the home is not a requirement. She should not go to a home with small animals (bunnies, guinea pigs, etc) as she has a very strong prey drive. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Transportation from the foster home to the adopter is the responsibility of the adopter to coordinate. Just Giants does not adopt outside of the continental US. Story
Bubba - Male Cane Corso Birthday: May 26, 2024 Gets along with: Cats: Yes Dogs: Yes, all sizes Kids: Yes Location: Aurora, IL Bubba is a lovable and friendly pup who gets along wonderfully with dogs, kids, and even cats! In his previous home, he lived with children and a cat, and in his current foster home, he shares space with three other dogs: two small, sassy Chihuahuas and a 50-pound Lab/Pit mix. He’s also great at meeting new people and making friends. Bubba is a pro at settling into his crate when left home alone, during bedtime, or when his humans are enjoying a meal. He’s a well-mannered boy who adapts easily to routines. You may have noticed Bubba’s unique eyes in his photos—they make him extra special! He has cherry eye, a condition common in giant breeds. The veterinarian has recommended waiting to address it until he’s a bit older, as some dogs outgrow it naturally. If not, it can easily be corrected at the same time as his neuter procedure. Bubba is ready to bring love, companionship, and his sweet personality to his forever home! Story
Rosie - Female Cane Corso Age: 05/26/2024 Gets along with: Cats: Possibly but would need training and slow introduction Dogs: Yes Kids: Yes Potty and Crate trained Location: Oswego, IL Meet Rosie—a perfect mix of cuddle and play! This sweet girl is ready to warm your lap on chilly winter nights, but she’s equally excited to zoom around the yard when it’s time to play. She loves running in a fenced yard and is working on her leash skills—she’s a strong girl, so practice and patience will be key. While she’s a bit nervous about the leash and car rides right now, Rosie’s gentle spirit shines through—she’s never shown aggression. Plus, her adorable little nubby tail wags almost nonstop, a testament to her happy-go-lucky nature. Rosie currently lives with two foster dog brothers. She gets along great with them—she ignores her older lab brother (who mostly keeps to himself) and loves wrestling and playing with squishy toys alongside her puppy foster brother. Rosie also lives with cats, and while she’s very curious about them, she respects the baby gate separating them. With time, calm cats, and proper introductions, she might learn to coexist peacefully, but this isn’t guaranteed just yet. When it’s time to wind down, Rosie finds comfort in her crate and will even voluntarily nap in it when the door is left open. She’s a smart, eager-to-please pup who’s thriving in her foster home and will continue to flourish with training. If you’re looking for a playful, loving companion, Rosie might just be the perfect match! Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters.
