Story
Simba is an XL American Bully. The breed was not listed so I put down Cane Corso. I have had him since he was a puppy from a reputable bully breeder in Tampa. He will be 4 in January. He is the sweetest dog and a gentle giant. His intimidating size and looks are not backed up by his personality. Not once has he ever bit a person, dog or even growled/barked at someone aggressively. He’s extremely quiet and almost never barks. You have to sneak up on him or tease him a lot whiling playing to get him to make a sound. I love him so much but I think he will be better off in another home with someone that has more time and more space for him. I will be moving back into the city soon and that is no place for a big dog like this. Simba would be best suited with someone who has a large property or a farm that he could live on. He loves being outside if he is not sleeping which he does for most of the day.

Story
Spay/Neuter of dog is scheduled at a vet of our choosing and is part of the adoption fee - date will be on the adoption contract - this is if not already sterilized.   We take the dogs that are adopted down...so if a dog is on the website they are available. Obedience training and fully fenced in yard is required for all our pups.   Completion certificate for training needs to be emailed once complete.  When applying pictures/videos of your fully enclosed yard is needed. Please only send inquiries to the email in this bio all others will not be answered. Please read the bio before sending questions - we answer all we know about the dog here. If the question is not answered in the bio please send emails to   info@HeidisLegacyDogRescue.com Meatball’s Journey On Monday, December 16, 2024, Meatball was found tied to a pole outside of a business located near the Tampa Airport. Employees of the nearby business approached Meatball and were greeted with a tail wagging. The dog had visible signs of being malnourished and neglected. The employees went to a nearby store and bought him some food. The dog graciously accepted the food as he was clearly starving. We initially thought Meatball was left food when he was tied to the pole, but the employees clarified the fact that they purchased the food for the dog. The employees untied the dog from the pole and kept him cool in the car, so he could have air conditioning and not become overheated. On Tuesday morning, December 17, 2024, Noelle, a relative of one of the employees who found the dog tied up, was called in to help. Noelle immediately took Meatball to Caring Paws Animal Hospital, to see if the dog was registered and he was in fact microchipped. When the Animal Hospital contacted the person who was registered in the microchip, they indicated that they had given the dog away to another individual. The Animal Hospital asked the person that the microchip was registered to for permission to pass along their name and contact information to Noelle who was now caring for the dog. The person agreed. When Noelle called the person registered to the microchip, to find out some of the dog’s history, it was a very long conversation. Meatball’s first owner, Jane Doe, had abused and neglected him on a regular basis. In one instance, she punched his eye, which today you can still see the effects of the impact. Jane Doe was later in a car accident and passed away. At that time, the boyfriend of Jane Doe gave the dog to a man, John Doe. John Doe kept the dog for a while then gave him to his daughter. The abuse and neglect for Meatball continued. John Doe told me at one point he believes his daughter was living on the streets with Meatball and could not feed him, so he would eat whatever he could find. Please note that all of these individuals reside in the Cape Coral, Florida area. On Monday, December 16, 2024, the person responsible for Meatball drove to a business on a dead end street and tied Meatball to a pole located on this property. They cruelly left him without food or water. Noelle contacted several local Tampa Rescues which unfortunately were all at capacity and fully committed until after Christmas. As a result, Noelle initially believed that her only option for Meatball was to bring him to the Animal Shelter. A friend of Noelle’s called, just as she was pulling into the Animal Shelter, to drop the dog off, and said that we may have another option. Noelle called the individual that the microchip was registered to and convinced them to Surrender the dog and Relinquish Ownership. The individual agreed and two Hillsborough County employees were witnesses to this verbal exchange. Noelle then took Meatball back to Caring Paws Animal Hospital, to see the amazing Dr. David R. Danielson DVM. Dr. Danielson generously waived the exam fee and split the costs of the vaccines Meatball needed with Noelle. Meatball received the following vaccines: Influenza, Lepto, Bordetella, Rabies and DHPP. The dog tested positive for Heartworm and will need ongoing medication and treatment. Through the microchip information, we were able to determine that Meatball is a Cane Corso (Mix). His color is brindle, and his Date of Birth is 12/17/2022. His weight was 52.6 LBS. The average weight of a 2-year old King Corso typically should be between 99 and 110 pounds. Meatball was prescribed Purina Pro Plan EN Gastroenteric food to help him gain weight at a slow and healthy pace. After Meatball was treated with the genuine love and care he so deserved by Dr. Danielson, he was faced with yet another obstacle. Where would he stay while he was being nursed back to health? Noelle, who had already bonded with the dog, could not rescue him because she already has 3 dogs of her own at home. Dr. Danielson recommended a Training and Boarding Academy called Sit N Stay Dog Academy. Noelle called the owner of Sit N Stay Academy and explained the situation. The Owner of Sit N Stay generously discounted the cost for one month of boarding and daily training for Meatball. Wednesday, December 18, 2024 has officially become the date of Meatball’s second chance at life. He slept well and happily ate all of his food. The trainers mentioned that he does not appear stressed at all and feels right at home. His training and road to recovering, both mentally and physically, has begun. We will be documenting Meatball’s long journey of recovery and rehabilitation. Once his training is complete, we will be accepting adoption applications for Meatball, who has remained both a loving and sweet boy, showing affection to everyone he meets. Hi-My name is Blu.I LOVE: to show off how I can catch treats mid-air! The volunteers say I`m `food motivated` whatever that means. I`m only 86 pounds and need to put on more weight for a guy my size. I also love toys and the game Fetch.I KNOW: I`m a good walker but better with a harness. IF YOU`RE LOOKING FOR: an exercise partner, I`m the one for you. I like to stretch these long legs. I AM SPECIAL BECAUSE: I might give you a quick bark while in my kennel but I`m just trying to get your attention. Outside, I`m quiet and have good manners. I`m also known for my slobbery kisses and I say it`s `It`s cool to drool!
