Story
MARVEL is a 5 yr old Italian Mastiff (Cane Corso) who came to us after she became protective of her family in their home. Marvel is a victim of Covid-19. With the shelter in place order, her family was not able to properly socialize her and she grew up as a “big fish in a little pond”. Her family had many special needs children and medical care professionals needed to visit the home during the pandemic. They arrived wearing masks and Marvel thought that was very scary and began to protect the children from these masked strangers. The family called in a trainer but, due to the circumstances, everything was a little overwhelming for them. We acquired her on the day she was to be euthanized. Marvel has been fine with us. With a handful of treats she warms up quickly to our volunteers. We did have one incident with an unannounced visitor who approached her quickly and the result was a bite. In a home she may revert to her protectiveness so we are looking for a family with Cane Corso experience - walking the line between socialization and keeping her safe. Cane Corsos were originally war dogs during the Roman empire and used for protection - it is ingrained in their DNA. They have also been used for drafting and droving cattle – IE they need a job to do. Just sitting around the house twiddling their thumbs is a recipe for disaster which is what got Marvel into the situation in the first place. We have paired Marvel with playful young male dogs and they do well together with supervision (Marvel tends to play rough and takes the upper hand). We feel that she could work out in a home with a well-adjusted male dog to show her appropriate dog behavior or as an only pup. Not cat compatible. Marvel can fly over a 4 foot fence so 6 foot privacy fencing is ideal. If you are the home that we are looking for, please fill out an application at www.CompAnimals.org. Marvel is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. Adoption $300.November 3, 2024, 10:40 am

Story
Liberty is a 9 year old spayed female cane corso who weighs about 115 pounds. She was rescued as part of a humane case in 2020 and she is finally ready to find a home of her own! Liberty is a volunteer favorite and we have spoiled her rotten while she has waited for her court case to settle. She previously lived with other dogs, but due to being by herself over the years, we would prefer that she is the only pet in the home. Liberty is easy going, house trained, walks well on a leash and will be a wonderful addition. Frosty looks like the saddest little muffin. She is downright depressed in the kennel. But, once she is out there is a magic transformation. She is silly and sweet and magic on a leash. Frosty loves to play fetch. She chases a ball, she MOSTLY brings it back. ?? Enjoy her skeptical expression and her judgy eyebrows.

Story
My dog gave birth to a surprise litter 3 years ago and one of her puppies was Chase. I gave him away to a family friend who did not take very good care of him. Once I was informed of this I got him back recently and have been taking care of him. He is a very sweet and loving dog. He is house trained, and has been really easy to teach. He is working his way up to a healthy weight and loves to work for treats. He has some sores due to the conditions that he was previously kept, but they seem to be healing fine. We have a toddler and he is great with her, and very tolerant of her playing with him. We also have 2 cats and a small dog that he is very good with as well. He truly is a sweetheart who deserves a good home. We would keep him but we cannot take care of another pet.

Story
Bougie is a social butterfly! This sweetheart loves making friends and greets everyone with a wagging tail and her warm personality. Bougie is gentle and affectionate, leaning in for pets and belly rubs without hesitation. She’s a pro at taking treats delicately, appears house trained, and already knows how to sit like a champ. Whether she’s engaging in playful moments or soaking up all the love, Bougie’s easygoing nature makes her a wonderful pal. She’s ready to bring joy, snuggles, and a little wiggle to your home—are you her person? Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Bougie at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering her. Videos: Bougie explores: https://youtube.com/shorts/6c76QyUdm-k?feature=share Bougie excitedly plays with her toy!: https://youtube.com/shorts/RP0zoxnLcSI?feature=share Behavior notes: per volunteer 1/26: She was a very sweet, playful, big girl. She did pull some on the leash due to her size and was definitely excited to see other dogs from afar. She got mouthy and jumpy when playing, so a home with someone who can handle a big, excitable dog and is willing to work with her on her playing manners will probably be best. She was very sweet and liked scratches, but also enjoyed sniffing around and exploring the yard! She was sweet and affectionate, super playful, and loved the rope toy. 01/25/2025 staff notes: An experienced green volunteer let us know that Bougie should be leveled up. Mentioned that she was very aroused, very jumpy, and mouthy. She mentioned that Bougie jumped up for a toy and skimmed her wrist with her tooth, causing raised irritated skin (did not break skin). Per staff 1/22/25: Brought Bougie into the volunteer office to meet a group of 8 corporate volunteers. She was immediately friendly with a loose and wiggly body. She leaned on handlers for petting and allowed all over body rubs. She was overall a super sweet girl Per volunteer 1/21- bougie is an absolute doll! She loves to say hello to everyone she meets and truly enjoys exploring all of the outdoors to get all the sniffs! She’s an affectionate girlie who just wants to be spoiled and loved. Who can resist a sweet face like this?! 01/21/2025 staff noted: KENNEL PRESENTATION: In the kennel Bougie was standing at the front with low wags, soft eyes and was very patient for leashing. Exited without any issues. No issues returning. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally Housebroken HANDLING : In the room Bougie was very friendly and social with everyone she met. She was so gentle and affectionate while out, soliciting attention often, leaning in for pets. He was very wiggly and showed no handling sensitivities allowing me to touch her belly, feet, face and was very tolerant. She did well meeting several people and was very social. Gentle when taking treats and showed knowledge of sit. PLAY: Engages in play TOYS Releases willingly 01/21/2025 staff notes: Sweet girl, came right up to say hi to me ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. Story
Sage is a 2 year old pitbull/bull mastiff mix. She is crate and house trained. She needs a good schedule with potty breaks. She knows basic commands ; sit, stay, eat , cage etc. she still acts like a puppy , very energetic and playful. I got sage when she was around 8 weeks old from a friend who was selling puppies. She was raised with another dog who she gets along with. She is a bit of a scaredy cat lol and will bark at any little noise. I have a toddler and she is great around him, with the touching , running, rough housing and everything else that a toddler does. Sage is not aggressive at all. She needs a bit more training ( leash pulling, thresholds) and a good routine.
