Story
Gus Gus is a sweet, shy Cane Corso puppy who’s still learning about the big world around him. Playful and curious, he’s eager to explore but needs a patient owner who can help him build his confidence. Gus Gus is very food-motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding—he’s always ready to learn when treats are involved! That being said Cane Corsos are a powerful, intelligent, and loyal breed that requires experienced handling and training. Due to their size, strength, and protective instincts, Cane Corsos are not ideal for first-time dog owners. They thrive in homes where they receive consistent training, early socialization, and a clear understanding of boundaries. Though he’s still a bit timid, Gus Gus has a playful spirit and will thrive with socialization and positive experiences. He’s looking for someone who understands that he’s a work in progress and can give him the time, patience, and love he needs to grow into a confident adult dog. Gus Gus would do best in a home where he can receive consistent training, plenty of socialization, and lots of love. He’ll need someone who is patient with his shyness and willing to put in the time to help him feel secure. With guidance, he’ll become a loyal and loving companion.

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:11Meet Berlin, a gorgeous 2-year-old Mastiff mix! This gentle giant is a proud gentleman, radiating a quiet confidence that will make him a wonderful companion to a very lucky family. Berlin has a sweet and loving nature, though he's still a bit underweight. With the right home, he'll not only fill out physically but also flourish emotionally, surrounded by the love and care he deserves. He already knows sit, shake, and down, and he's very treat-motivated, making him a quick learner. Berlin is attentive to his human companions, making him a great match for both leisurely strolls and more adventurous outings. And if you want to win his heart, just pack a few pieces of cheese in your pocket—Berlin’s absolute favorite treat! When it comes to other dogs, Berlin has shown a calm and independent demeanor. He would be a great fit for a home with another laid-back dog that shares his low-energy style, or he could thrive as the solo dog, enjoying all the attention to himself. Either way, he’s sure to bring a gentle presence and loving companionship to his new home. Berlin is ready to find his forever family, where he can continue to grow into the incredible dog he's meant to be! November 14, 2024, 3:10 pm

Story
Teddy is a very special boy who needs a very special adopter. Teddy spent a significant amount of his life as a stray dog and he takes a long time to build trust in new humans. Once he trusts you, he is a total love bug. While building trust, he prefers to watch from a distance. Teddy is very smart and wants to be part of a family. He loves to run the perimeter of his foster yard and enjoys being both inside and outside. Over the last few months, he has built enough trust with his foster that he now likes to sleep beside or on her bed. Teddy loves to play in water and has a fun game of dumping water bowls and buckets whenever the mood suits him. Teddy currently lives with several dogs (both large and small) as well as cats. He does very well with other animals and is very careful to be gentle with his 6 pound Chihuahua friend and kitty friends. He also gets along great with his 110 pound husky foster brother. Teddy loves long walks or hikes, playing with other dogs and getting brushed. He is still working on feeling comfortable on the leash, but has made some good improvements while in foster care. He is mild-mannered and loves to settle down to chew on a crinkly toy, bone, or antler. Teddy is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for complimentary private and/or group training to help ensure a successful adoption. If you would like to meet Teddy to see if he is a good fit for your family, please fill out our short adoption application: www.betterworldrescue.org/adoption-application Upon receipt of your application, one of our passionate volunteers will call you within one business day to answer any questions and schedule a meet.

Story
Jaco is a jack of all kinds of fun! This sweet giant is eager to make friends and play with you. Jaco has been through a board and train program and knows all of his basic commands in addition to being well-mannered. Check out Jaco's video playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVb0fq1O6CwnRYoSTeoXcytp3-5noWEGT Jaco was found wandering at a Jack in the Box on a rural highway in Central California. After surviving that ordeal, he lingered at a high-kill shelter for too long and was almost euthanized. A generous sponsor was able to place Jaco with a trainer for three months to give him more time to find a foster, and while he was waiting for a foster he learned all the cool stuff! Jaco has done great in training and play groups with other dogs. He also has done well with horses and pigs. He does not have much experience with cats, however we suspect this gentle giant would be fine with them with some training. Jaco is a XL breed puppy who would do best in a home experienced with XL dogs. He has done great in training, but continued leash work is needed. Jaco knows sit, down, time for bed, and NO among other cues. He is a big lovebug who is eager to please and learn new tricks. He loves kongs, rope toys, and tennis balls most of all for toys. Jaco is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for complimentary private and/or group training to help ensure a successful adoption. If you would like to meet Jaco to see if he is a good fit for your family, please fill out our short adoption application: www.betterworldrescue.org/adoption-application Upon receipt of your application, one of our passionate volunteers will call you within one business day to answer any questions and schedule a meet.
