Story
Delilah is a sweet 2-year-old Cane Corso/Great Dane/Mastiff mix, weighing 120+ lbs and still growing muscle. She’s been with us since 8 weeks old and is up to date on her shots, house trained, and registered as an ESA. Delilah was also in training to be a service dog. She’s great with animals, children, and people, though she is a bit hesitant around men at first. Her favorite things? Butt scratches and Cheez-Its. She’s a cuddle bug who loves being sung to, playing her zoomies game (pretend sneezes!), and cuddling while watching TV. Sadly, due to my medical condition worsening, we can no longer keep her. Delilah would do best in a home with space to play and someone who is home often. I just want her to continue to thrive and be as happy as she deserves.

ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Duke is Courtesy Post Only and is not a Second Chance Dog Rescue dog. SCDR is not responsible for any ownership, behavior, health, and representations made by the owner with respect this dog. Please contact their owner,  Dawn at dawn.regner@yahoo.com for further information.   ************** Duke is a beautiful Cane Corso (approx. 2-3 years old) who is fully potty trained, crate trained, and neutered.  He is up to date on all vaccinations and has been given a clean bill of health by the vet.  He is friendly and affectionate; in many ways, he is a gentle giant.  Duke loves to play in the yard (he does get the zoomies from time to time, which can be quite an exciting experience for this 100-lb dog!) but also likes some routine and structure.  After a good romp around the backyard, chasing toys and jumping around, he’s happy to settle in for a nice nap! He gets along very well with other dogs, including our 8-year-old Maltipoo.  Duke also goes to doggie daycare twice a week and loves hanging out with all his friends there.  He is also great with kids. The ideal home would be one with some room to run and play (and maybe even another doggie friend in home to play with!), and with someone who is home often and can devote a little time and attention (preferably an owner who has had experience with dogs of his size and/or breed).  He’s not thrilled with being alone for long stretches, and when that’s necessary he tends to prefer the crate.  Because he has undergone some trauma in his past, he has a few issues with anxiety.  But he’s happy to give (and receive!) a lot of love and will make a great family dog in the right home. For further information on Duke, please contact, his owner Dawn at dawn.regner@yahoo.com. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  February 21, 2025, 7:05 pm

Story
Apollo is a beautiful purebred Cane Corso. He will need a strong owner who has experience with mastiffs, pit bulls or bulldogs. Apollo would do best in an active home with good fencing. He loves to run and play but dog parks are a no no. Typical of this breed, he does not do well with other male dogs. Apollo likes to play hard so supervision with female dogs is needed at the start. He is also loving and sweet and would love to curl up on the couch with you! Very good on a leash as well.

Story
Rene was wandering around the block for several weeks, until he was given the opportunity to enter the home of one of the rescuers. He has been a very protective, loving dog, and from the first moment he was always grateful. He has gained weight and is ready for his new home. He loves to get close to the fence to be petted by neighbors. He is good with cats, although because of his size we do not leave him unsupervised when he is with them, and he lives with most females. He doesn't like to have another male around, he is the alpha and everyone knows it, but with people, he is the biggest baby of them all. He loves treats, lots of love and affection, going for walks and playing with balls and rubber toys. The $350.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to San Diego, CA. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash. The adoption fee does not include transportation to North of San Diego

Story
Luna is the rescues longest resident. As a young puppy Luna was sent to a board n train where harsh methods were used and her trust in humans was completely destroyed. She was flown down to us from a shelter in San Jose in the hopes we could work with her and get her to the point of being able to safely be adopted out. Luna has definitely been a labor of love but she is ready for a home of her own now. She has perfect house manners and is completely house broken. She walks beautifully on a leash and participates in our pack walks where she solicits love and attention from everyone. On the homefront she can be protective but she is a corso, and this is to be expected. She’s been fostered with both dogs and cats and with proper introductions would easily be able to live with other pets. She’s never had an altercation with any animal. She really needs a home with someone who understands the breed and loves cuddling with their pup as she’s a huge cuddler.

Story
Gunner is pure breed Cane Corso, we have had him since he was 4 months old. He is a great family dog. Not sure how well he would do with other dogs because he has only been around our other smaller dog. My daughters allergies jave gotten worst so we are trying to find a home for him. We paid $4k, and hate to see him go, but want to find a good family for him
