Story
Hey hey, friends! Are you looking for a supernova girl? Because you`ve come to the right place. My name`s Nova, and I`m ready to light up your life! Volunteers describe me as curious and friendly. I`m still a young girl so I`ve got some things to learn, but I`m ready to do that with you. I walk pretty well on leash with occasional check ins, and I`m easy to redirect if I get a little too distracted. I`m an affectionate girl who likes greeting people and receiving pets. If you`re ready for all the exciting things that come with having a young dog, I`m ready to be your loyal companion! Come on down to the shelter to meet me.I also went on a doggie day out adventure with a volunteer on 11/9, here is what they had to say! Nova was a very sweet and excited young lady. She accepted lots of pets from us right from the start and was very friendly. She was most calm when walking in more remote areas, where she relished the opportunity to sniff everything she could. When on crowded paths with other humans and dogs, or around squirrels she was a little anxious and reactive, and was more difficult to focus on walking so she could use some training and redirection like most pups do! She is a quick study though! We walked the arboretum at the uc davis campus, as well as most of the campus. She was very excited to walk and loved to sniff everything. Several people asked to pet her and she was a little shy but happily accepted pets, especially when motivated by treats. She got a pup cup at the coffee shop and wolfed it down! She walked several miles, and slept on the car ride home

Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? Hello! My name is Cairo. HOW OLD ARE YOU? I am two years old as of April 2024. HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I weigh about 95 pounds. WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I am tall, dark gray and sinfully handsome, with absolutely mesmerizing large gray/light brown eyes! WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I am very happy with kibble and love apples. I am a very healthy eater! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I am the sweetest gentle giant! I am super shy at first, and can be a little nervous about new things. However, once I get comfortable in my surroundings, I get really playful and cuddly! And I definitely love my quiet time to snooze in peace. Overall I am just a low-key, lovable introvert DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY My perfect day is pretty simple: good food, good friends, and good naps! I'm not one for adventure so staying home and just enjoying my big backyard is the best! WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? I love chew toys! My favorite is the Benebone. Yummy! DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? I am pretty good at sit, down, and paw to shake. I also will use my paw to ask you nicely for attention, like belly rubs! WHAT SCARES YOU? My shyness makes me a bit uncertain about many things. I may take a week or two to warm up to a new place, once I know what and where everything is. I am so happy my foster mom is patient with me as I adjust to new things! HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN, DO YOU LIKE THEM? I am naturally very kindhearted and gentle. However, due to my size, a home with older children, or no children, may be a better fit than with small children. DO YOU LIKE CATS? I have ignored cats that I have come across while in foster care, but I have not lived with any. So no cats please. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I LOVE other dogs, big or small! IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD WHERE WOULD IT BE? I would be napping on a quiet beach somewhere in the Caribbean. But I'd settle for a large backyard with a kiddie pool! HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I am very strong and healthy. No issues! WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? My sister, Cleo, and I live with our foster mom, foster grandma, and four other small dogs. We love to play and spend time together. My favorite human is my foster mom, of course. She shows me patience and understanding, and gives me toys and treats and food! She is the best! WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I am crate trained, so I nap in my cozy crate when I am home alone. I love having my crate as a safe place while I acclimate to new places. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I love to steal my foster mom’s bed for my daytime naps, especially if foster mom naps with me! But I sleep comfortably in my crate, too. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON THE LEASH? I am not comfortable with walking out in the big scary world yet. I don’t mind the leash, but until I am more confident, walks are a bit overwhelming. DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT, FOR INSTANCE DO YOU BARK OR DIG IN THE YARD? My foster mom says I like to hog the bed during naptime, but I have no bad habits! I don’t bark excessively, don’t chew on things I am not supposed to…foster mom said she’s so pleased with what a good boy I am! ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED? Yes, I am house trained. DO YOU LIKE WATER? I LOVE water! I get excited to play in the water, and I tolerate baths, even though they’re not as much fun as a kiddie pool! WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? I love that they let me be me, without crowding me or pushing me to be an extrovert like my sister. I may be shy and quiet, but I do love my humans and the cuddles they give me. WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NOR CAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? Cleo and I were found roaming the streets all by ourselves. My shyness may stem from that situation, and that is possibly why I am not thrilled about taking walks outside of my safe space. But I am growing more confident each day, and I would love to come to your home to experience a fun new life of love and cuddles with you! **CAIRO’S ADOPTION FEE IS $200.** If you are interested in adopting CAIRO, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas. Story
*Courtesy Post for Solano Shelter* Meet Leon! Leon is neutered and vaccinated; he is estimated about 5 years old and is currently at Solano County shelter adoption floor but the shelter is impacted like many across the state. Shelter ID: A294722 If you would like to foster or foster to adopt through our program please contact us: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/fosterapplication Email coordinators@heartsforpawsrescue.com or info@heartsforpawsrescue.com The dogs posted have tested well with dogs and have exhibited affiliative behaviors/done well with new people. Please keep in mind we always recommend slowly introducing animals in the home and taking proper precautions to feed separately, and if needed be able to have a safe, separate space. Since they are in the shelter still, we do not always know or are able to know if they are good with cats. Since they are kenneled 23.5-24 hours a day we can not guarantee they are housetrained; please keep in mind even housetrained dogs may have accidents as they adjust to a new home and schedule.
