Story
Brooke is a gentle soul that doesn’t understand why she is at a place that has cold, cement floors and constant barking. She misses the comfort of a loving home. The shelter had her listed as a terrier pit, but my Dog Scanner said she’s a Canaan Dog/Basenji mix. She’s one year old, weighs 36 pounds and arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 8/15. She was brought in by one of our officers. She’s on the timid side but warms up with a slow introduction. She is sensitive around her neck. Leashes and scarves scare her. She will need work on this so she is not reactive. Once she has a leash on she walks very well on it. With time spent, and TLC she becomes your BFF. She sits for treats and takes them gently. Actually, I just shook the bag with the treats, and she came running and sat down. She’s well mannered, calm, gentle, sweet, and affectionate. She is cautiously friendly. I called her when she was out in the yard, and she came running up to me. She did her business in the yard. She was not interested in meeting other dogs, but probably because she was intimidated. If you have another dog we always suggest you ask the shelter for a dog test. I had her outside briefly and she let me know she wanted to be inside where it was cooler. She wants to be mostly an inside dog and enjoy chilling out with her new family.

Story
Check out this beauty!! 🩷 This is Addison 🩷 She is a 3 year old, Besenji/Carolina Dog Mix (best guess) who weighs 38 lbs. She is a gentle soul who has overcome a difficult start in life. This beautiful girl was found abandoned with her newborn puppies. All of her puppies have now found wonderful homes and it’s now Addison’s turn to find the forever family she truly deserves. Addison is a playful, affectionate, and incredibly loving dog. She’s the kind of dog who will happily greet you with a wagging tail and a big, warm heart. She adores people and is always eager to make new friends, both human and canine. Addison gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a doggie companion, though she’s just as content as the only pet if that’s what you’re looking for. Not only is Addison sweet and playful, but she’s also incredibly well-mannered and potty trained, making her a great addition to any home. Whether it’s running around the yard for a game of fetch or curling up on the couch for a cuddle session, Addison is always ready to share love and joy with those around her. Addison's resilience and loving nature are truly inspiring. After all she’s been through, she’s still ready to trust and give her heart to a new family. If you’re looking for a loyal, sweet, and playful companion to brighten your home, Addison would love nothing more than to be by your side. She’s ready to start the next chapter of her life, and with the right family, she’ll make it a chapter filled with love, laughter, and happiness. Could Addison be the perfect addition to your home?
