Story
Hi, I’m Biscuit—a 6-year-old Jordanian Canaan Dog, and I’ve got a story to share! 🐾 I was born in Jordan, but I ended up in the U.S. with another rescue that didn’t quite understand me. They thought I was feral and were going to have me put down—but really, I just didn’t speak English! 😅 Thankfully, PUP stepped in and saved my life and they taught me everything I need to know. Now, I’m fluent in English and ready to share my love with the right family. 🇯🇴 I’m a soft, beautiful girl—seriously, I’m the softest dog you’ll ever meet. I love being petted (can’t get enough of it, really), and I’m incredibly affectionate. But don’t let my softness fool you—I’m a guard dog at heart! I can be barrier protective, and I take my job of keeping you safe very seriously. Once I trust you, I’ll melt into a puddle of love (and maybe roll over for belly rubs). 😋❤️ I’m super smart and eager to please, so I’ll do anything to make you proud. But I do need to be introduced to new people properly—I’m a little cautious at first, but once I know you’re okay, we’re good to go! 👫 When it comes to other dogs, I only like male dogs my size or larger (and no cats for me, thank you very much 🐱❌). I’m a little much for younger kids, so I’d be happiest in a home with older kids (15+). I can be a bit of a human bulldozer when I’m excited! 😂 I’m a silly, playful, and super loyal girl who just wants to love and be loved. So, if you’re ready for an adorable, energetic bundle of joy who will adore you forever, AND have experience with Guardian breeds, I’m your girl. Let’s start our adventure together—I promise it’ll be full of laughs, cuddles, and lots of love! 🐕💖

Story
Hi, I’m Leo, an 8-year-old Kuwaiti Canaan Dog, and my journey hasn’t been easy, but I’m still here, full of life and love! ❤️ Let me tell you a little about my story—it's one of survival, strength, and second chances. I was just a 5-month-old puppy when I was hit by a car, beaten, and tossed in a dumpster in Kuwait. 😢 But after months of recovery, I was sent to New Jersey in the summer of 2019. At first, everything seemed great, but as the colder weather arrived, I started acting strange and showing aggression towards strangers. I was growling, and the shelter thought I was unadoptable. They were going to put me down, but the Kuwait rescue reached out to PUP, and they rushed to save me. Turns out, I was having trouble adjusting to the bone pain that comes with cold weather—I wasn’t used to seasons! But there was more to it. I had Ehrlichiosis, a tick-borne illness that was causing pain too. After some treatment and pain management, I was back to being my happy, energetic self, ready to play and cuddle! 🐾💕 I was adopted by a family, but unfortunately, they didn’t manage my illness, and I was returned to PUP in February 2024 in bad shape. I had a fever, but after some care and attention, my Ehrlichiosis cleared up, and my arthritis was managed. Now, I’m back to my playful, loving self. On rainy or cold days, I need a little extra care, but I’m still the life of the party! 🎉 I’m a happy-go-lucky guy who loves to play, run, and be the life of the party. I adore people (I really do!), I'm also convinced that I am a lap dog. I get along great with cats, dogs, and kids. BUT, when I’m not feeling well, I may growl at strangers—this is just me telling you I need a vet check. It’s not aggression, just a way for me to communicate that something’s wrong. Here’s the deal: I need a family who understands that I require routine medical management for my tick-borne illness and occasional arthritis. When I’m feeling great, I’m the best buddy—full of love, butt scratches, cuddles, and playtime. 🐾❤️ Adopt Leo, and you’ll have a loyal, playful companion who will bring joy and love to your life. 💖 Let’s make some new memories, together! Story
Bow Down, Mortals—Queen Berry Has Arrived! 👑 Oh, hello there. Were you perhaps looking for the most fabulous, chaotic, and downright unstoppable dog on the planet? Well, congratulations, you found me—Berry, the Jordanian Canaan Shepherd mix, Queen of Sass, Destroyer of Clean Floors, and Ruler of Puddles Everywhere. Now, let’s get one thing straight: I may not have back legs, but what disability? I scoot, I slide, I zoom, and when I want something, nothing stands in my way. Not furniture, not baby gates, not your flimsy attempts to keep me out of the snack cabinet. I always get what I want. My journey to greatness began with an international scandal. That’s right, I was quarantined at JFK Airport in 2020 because of a typo. A typo. The CDC thought I was a public health risk because, apparently, being fabulous and paralyzed was too much for them to handle. But guess what? Five members of Congress got involved in my case. FIVE. Especially my friends Tom Souzzi and Lee Zeldin, they’re both pretty cool. When was the last time politicians agreed on anything? That’s the level of star power I have. Eventually, I was freed from quarantine, and thanks to my friends at Paws Unite People, I got the medical care I needed. Fast forward to now: I am thriving. I don’t need a wheelchair—turns out, I’m way too fast and fabulous without one. I scoot around like a furry little torpedo of chaos, making messes, splashing through puddles, and keeping everyone on their toes. I love kids, dogs, and cats, and they all love me because, honestly, I’m irresistible. If you’re looking for a sweet, sassy, unstoppable queen who will fill your life with laughter, joy, and the occasional unexpected mess, I am your girl. Just remember: I always get what I want. Adopt Berry. Embrace the chaos. 👑

Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     hi, my name is Walter.  3yrs old 39lbs from Thailand. I think I am the best behaved dog here, seriously.  I never bark or cry.I’m so affectionate towards people both big and small. I would say I’m a REAL happy doggie even though I have some medical issues.I even got a wheel chair because of many kind people donated towards it so I can finally run and go for walks which I really now enjoy! I’ve met some of the rescue doggies here and we get really well along. I enjoy to play with them, and them with me. What Makes Me Special I am not sure if I will ever walk again.  But I am to mastering my wheelchair so I can go out on long walks in the future.  I am always happy and really enjoy all the love, kindness and treats I get from everyone here who comes to see me every day.   I don’t need much to make me happy. I can see a lovely forever in the future that wouldn’t mind taking me out in my wheelchair or have a garden with grass that I can play in.I would also enjoy a nice doggie friend if that’s possible. Who won’t freak out because of my wheels.I’m doing a lot of social walks a.t.m. with different rescue doggies here and all is going very well. I was found at a local temple on the mainland.   Many stray dogs in Thailand end up at temples because people dump us there. Lanta Animal Welfare visited the temple and found me.  They decided to bring me back and check me over to see if they could find why I can’t  walk.  Seems I may have some spinal damage.   I hope I can one day stand on all my four paws. Time will tell…  Are you ready for love!Meet Walter, a three-year old power-pup that’s ready to roll into your heart! Walter might get around on a set of wheels, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit. He’s a calm, gentle soul who loves people and dogs alike—and he’s always ready to make new friends! Walter was found at a nearby temple and brought back to Lanta Animal Welfare. After running some tests it was determined that Walter had suffered an injury to his spine, and it is unlikely that he will regain the use of his hind legs. While he’s always smiling and incredibly friendly, Walter does need an experienced family who understands his special needs and can provide him with the support he deserves. If you have experience with special needs dogs and are ready to give a deserving dog the love-filled life he dreams of, please reach out! Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! ✅Currently located in South Korea✅️ 💟Available to fly to JFK,EWR💟 Meet Dorothy♠️ • With People: Dorothy may need a little time to warm up to strangers, but once comfortable, she becomes affectionate and playful, even giving kisses. She’s not used to being held, so she tends to stiffen up when picked up. • With Dogs: Dorothy gets along well with other dogs, though she may be initially shy with unfamiliar ones. She enjoys playing with familiar dogs but is still learning how to play gently, as she can get overly excited. • With Cats: Dorothy coexists peacefully with cats and shows no issues interacting with them. • Separation Anxiety: Dorothy is independent and can stay alone without barking or showing anxiety. She sleeps well on her own, making her a great companion for any routine. • Potty Training: Dorothy is pad-trained and adapts easily even when the pad’s location is changed. • Walking and Outdoor Behavior: She enjoys walks but tends to pull on the leash when she’s curious about something, like birds. Training is ongoing to improve her leash manners. She also responds well to sitting when directed, especially around passing people. • Grooming and Hygiene: Dorothy is comfortable with grooming, including baths, brushing, nail trims, and drying. • Car Sickness: She generally travels well in cars but may occasionally experience vomiting. 💌Special Notes💌 • As a puppy, Dorothy may display behaviors like mild separation anxiety, mouthing, whining, or mischief, which require ongoing training. • Her coat type and eventual size are uncertain due to the lack of information about her father. • Dorothy has mastered “sit,” “wait,” “lie down,” and “eat.” She also responds well to her name and will eagerly run to you when called. ❗Health Status❗ • Spayed: Not yet completed • Microchipped: Not yet completed • Other: Dorothy has corneal edema, requiring consistent application of eye drops. This condition is not contagious.
