Story
Layla is a favorite of the Milo Founder, she is a dog for serious dog people! She is very aware of her surroundings and excited by people, other dogs - and all kinds of stimulus - she wants to run, play, engage! She is a country girl through and through, she is nervous in urban areas. Layla is a sassy girl who is not afraid to let you know when she does not like something. She is happier off leash than on (pulls mightily) and has good recall and great stamina! Layla is smart and motivated. She is much happier and more relaxed hiking on trails, running in fields, she'd likely love the beach, she LOVES water. She is also quite cuddly and affectionate. Layla is a toughie, she is amazingly agile and athletic, fences rarely hold her, she can be determined to climb, to get out to follow or escape due to boredom - you will see her leap, climb and steady herself on top the fence and jump down. Layla is a sassy and willful girl who is not afraid to let you know when she doesn't like something, she'll roll over and plant herself if she is being kenneled and she doesn't feel like it's time yet. She has shown some leash aggression with other dogs but seems like she just wants to say hi and play, she tends to be female dominant. She is fine with other dogs when out running and doing things, and boy does she love to run!! Layla has great stamina and runs with he side-by-side buggies at our Sanctuary, she also LOVES water!. Layla is active, outgoing, athletic and super smart. Layla wants to please, she is charming, bright, engaged and ready to learn from dog savvy people with the time and devotion for a companion dog that is ready to roll!! She needs daily exercise. Ideally off-leash running - she is a great trail dog. She is a super athletic champion in the making, and an excellent ranch dog running with four-wheel work vehicles, and she likes to ride as well, she has great recall, is fast on her feet and super agile! Layla is full of intrigue, impulse (though her impulses can be controlled) she is enthusiastic, athletic and eager to take part, learn and love with outgoing people eager to have their dog be an important part of their life! She would love to go camping!! Layla is smart and can find a way over most fences or gates... so she needs a secure high fence or to be indoors or crated when her people aren't home, she would follow people down the driveway and away if not contained! She so wants to be included in all adventures and activities. Layla is alpha with other females but is fine with them out and about as long as there is space and action - on leash she likely would be more testy - she runs with a pack and the four-wheelers at the sanctuary as long as there is a direction, a mission, she is great - she will wrestle and play chase with the best of them! Loves water. Smiley happy girl. Layla is not great with livestock. Layla comes with a 20 day get acquainted period with her adoption, time to adjust to new surroundings. Please give time and patience to new adoptees, particularly dogs from the Milo Sanctuary. Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Our Sanctuary is where our rescued dogs who have had difficulty in a home in the past, have behavioral issues, or too much energy, or for some, aggression issues with other dogs, or intense stranger danger that make them more difficult to safely and happily live in urban environments. These are not beginner dogs or for the most part nor are they for families with children. IF you are looking for an easy dog to add to your family, we suggest looking at the dogs at our Adoption Center, Milo Pt Richmond. BUT, if you can offer a safe and nurturing home to a dog with some behavioral "quirks" please do send an application today. Thank you.

Story
story: Thank you for interested in adopting Buddy. Please know that Buddy is an international rescue. When your application is approved, you will need to pick him up from the airport - such as SFO, SEA, JFK, LAX, ONT, IAH, etc. International adoption is not a complicated process and we've done the process many years. We would be happy to explain to you how the process works. Buddy is not high in energy level and likes to take a slow walk, taking time to observe and sniff other things. When he was a puppy, he was small and weak and was bullied by his siblings. He gets nervous towards other dogs. He is not comfortable when the other dog tries to dominate and when the other dog has a young puppy energy so much that it can annoy others. However, once he becomes friendly with other dog, he gets along very well. He stayed in the shelter for a long time so he lacks socialization but he is gentle and careful once he decides to be a friend with the people and the dogs. Now, he is under socialization training. He has not met children yet but is generally calm and good with people. The foster believes buddy is calm and friendly with anyone and so can be with children. Buddy is nervous but stays calm in the crate. He behaves well when he is alone in home. He is under leash training. If he gets scared he just stops and refuses to move. When he gets scared during walks, he leans on the people next to him and depends on the person for protection. With something he has not eaten before, he doesn’t eat it right away. He rubs it on his body first. After he tries it one or two times, he doesn’t do it anymore. Lacking various experiences, he gets scared easily but is also good at overcoming them. If you’re interested in adopting Buddy, feel free to contact us for more info! Thank you.

Story
Thank you for interested in adopting Chewy. Please know that Chewy is an international rescue. When your application is approved, you will need to pick him up from the airport - such as SFO, SEA, JFK, LAX, ONT, IAH, etc. International adoption is not a complicated process and we‘ve done the process many years. We would be happy to explain to you how the process works. Rescue story: The rescuer feeds some stray dogs far away from her home and she found a mama dog with 4 puppies. She was not able to help them but only could give them enough food to survive. One day, one of the puppies voluntarily came close to the rescuer and when she held the puppy, she found the puppy was covered by ticks and fleas and was in a very bad condition. The rescuer decided to find all of the dogs and was able to capture the mama dog and the rest 3 puppies. Chewy is very friendly with all dogs and is affectionate towards people. She likes to have close relationships with people. She loves taking walks and being outdoor. She is good on leash withouth pulling. At first, she pulled a little from being excited but now she is very good and follows the foster gently. She sometimes become stubborn at some points she wants to sniff but overall, she is very good on leash! She doesn’t have a guarding behavior and waits very well for her turn during the treat time. She is 100% outdoor potty trained and never made a mistake.
