Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hello there! I’m Blossom, and my journey started as a stray with some tough times, but fortunately, I was rescued by a kind soul and found my way to a wonderful foster mommy. Whew! What a relief! I’m a darling girl with a soft, cooing voice that you’ll find utterly endearing. I adore being petted and cuddled, and I’m quite the expert at giving massages. Instead of making biscuits, I prefer to stomp on you—trust me, it’s way more enjoyable! I’m a snuggle enthusiast and love sleeping beside you and following you around. While I’m not a fan of being picked up, my foster family says I’m an absolute sweetheart and super loving. But here’s the best part of my story: I’ve found my soulmate, Simon. He’s the love of my life and the one I never want to be without. He’s dreamy, charming, and together we’re simply inseparable. We both adore humans more than toys and are two peas in a pod. So, please, don’t ask to separate us—we belong together! We’re both big fans of eating, treats, and snuggling. You’ll often find us squished into the same cozy cube on the cat tree, just to be close to one another. A calm, loving home where we can adjust at our own pace and let us sleep with you would be perfect for us. If you welcome us into your life, you’ll be one of the luckiest people around, with double the love and affection from two devoted furballs. With love and purrs,Blossom & Simon   If you would like to meet your new best friends, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format. Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. November 14, 2024, 4:12 pm

Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi… I’m Mary, the shy little calico. My friend Marshmallow and I are going through a tough time right now. Our human had to move into assisted living, and now we’re left behind, feeling scared and unsure of what comes next. It’s been hard losing the home and person we loved, and I’m still trying to adjust. Marshmallow, with her gorgeous blue eyes, is a bit more independent, but she’s still sweet in her own quiet way. As for me, I’ve always found comfort in the company of other cats. I love them and do my best to be a gentle companion. Humans, though? I’m much shyer. I won’t come up to you right away, but I promise I’m not mean—I just need time and patience to feel safe. We’re both hoping for a quiet, loving home where we can stay together. We may be shy, but we bring a quiet beauty and grace to any home we’re in—the kind that fills the space with warmth even if we don’t ask for much attention. We just want a calm, safe place where we can feel secure again. If you have room in your heart for two gentle souls who need a second chance, please think of us. We’re waiting for a place where we can finally feel safe and loved again. Much Love,Mary If you would like to meet your new best friends, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. Story
Specks, inspired by Simone Biles, has decided she would like to be an Olympian. She believes that with the right coaching, her energy and passion can be honed to have her ready for the next Olympics. Would you help her figure out if she wants to be a gymnast, speed climber, or sprinter? She’s pretty good at all of those things already but she would need a loving coach with a comfortable lap to rest in after a hard training session and a training partner in the form of another kitten or energetic cat to really help her shine.November 8, 2024, 11:53 am
