Ninjacake is a beautiful 9-year old calico. She is very sweet, gentle, quiet, sensitive, and independent. She enjoys snuggling next to or on top of her humans, and can entertain herself with her favorite toys. We are relocating, so we hope to find a safe, caring, and loving environment for her.

Story
Callie came to my dad’s house as a tiny kitten. She was lifeless. Dad and I took her to the vet. He gave us a grim prognosis. She stayed two nights and we were all gladly surprised when she pulled through. When I gave her an antibiotic pill I saw a hole in the roof of her mouth. We took her to the specialist vet in Louisville. He wasn’t sure if there was enough skin to cover it . Again we were happily surprised. She does not want to be petted unless it’s her idea. She has lived with six small dogs and did fine. She and dad’s other cat like playing. She does not like my daughter’s husky. Dad passed away last July and I have been looking with no luck. She will turn five in late spring.

Story
January found herself in a shelter, pregnant and scared. We took her in the morning of January 1st, right after she had given birth to 3 kittens. She's been through so much! An unknown 4th kitten that was stillborn and pyometra infection, leading to emergency spay! Her kittens are off to their forever homes and she is now ready for her forever home! She is the perfect cat if you want a chill, lap cat! She is sweet, cuddly and quiet. If you would like to make January part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org.    ADOPTION FEE $75The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    February 28, 2025, 5:53 pm

Story
I rescued her as a stray, along with her 3 other sisters about 3 years ago. I broke my hip several months ago and can no longer keep these rescued cats. I am also in the process of moving into a new home and cannot take them with me. Sophie is very sweet and loves to play with a rubber ball. She bounces it down the stairs and brings it back up. She also loves to watch bird videos on the TV.
