Story
Meet Meekio!Meekio is an independent old kitty who enjoys affection (on his terms, of course) and is quite playful for his age. He loves chasing wand toys and, if feeling particularly affectionate, curling up in laps. Meekio is prone to becoming overstimulated and may hiss/swat at random. As such, he would do best with an adopter that is mindful of his body language. He will thrive best in an adult-only home.***Keep your new family member safe and consider investing in a catio or "cat-proofing" your balcony/deck. Leash-training, or letting your cat tag along in a pet backpack, are other safe options. Alternatively, you can bring the outside in with strategically placed bird-feeders and pollinator plants!***Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Meekio's person? Apply today!TIP: We strongly suggest all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted. Leaving these questions empty inhibits our ability to make the best match possible, and drastically effects the likelihood of receiving a call back.https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/cat-pre-adoption-questionnaire/The Victoria Center is open for in-person adoption viewings Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm to 4pm, staff and animal well-being permitting! Some animals may not be available for public viewing due to limited shelter space, medical and behavioral reasons, or other contributing factors. Kittens are not available for viewing as they are often in foster homes for health & safety reasons. Due to the high number of applications, we will ONLY be contacting select individuals to further review their interest. While we do our best to let applicants know whether they've been selected or not, the center is extremely busy! If you do not hear back within a week, it's likely the animal has already found a forever home. Phone inquires regarding the status of your application cannot always be prioritized.Animals cannot be held for potential adopters for more than 24 hours without a legitimate reason. Story
Introducing Moe!Moe came into care struggling with a secondary infection caused by self-mutilation after a flea infestation. Due to the severity of the reaction, he's suspected to have a sensitivity to flea bites and will need to remain on flea prevention to be most comfortable. He would do well being indoor only, which would also eliminate a lot of parasite exposure.Moe is super sweet and has really blossomed into an affectionate and confident boy after coming in not feeling so great and acting quite shy.He is vocal now when he wants something and is more than happy to ask for, and accept cuddle time now that he is feeling so much better! He would make a great companion for someone looking for a calm, loving addition to the home. ***Keep your new family member safe and consider investing in a catio or "cat-proofing" your balcony/deck. Story
Meet the lovely Beatrix!Beatrix is looking for her new home after coming to us as a stray. She would do best as an indoor cat due to being a bit on the nervous side, and will make up for it with lots of cuddling.A favourite of hers is rummaging under her blanket until she's made a nice little den to sleep in.Beatrix may be okay with other cats in the home, however would generally prefer no dogs. An adult-oriented home may also be better suited to her as she prefers her quiet time to relax.***Keep your new family member safe and consider investing in a catio or "cat-proofing" your balcony/deck. Leash-training, or letting your cat tag along in a pet backpack, are other safe options.
