Story
Meet 3 year old 15 pound Scottie! Scottie came from a home that had many, many dogs. He didn't get proper socialization so he's a bit cautious when meeting new people and in new situations. We know he is an adorable pup, but please, do not consider him if you are looking for an outgoing & social dog. At this time, Scottie needs time and fun training techniques to build his confidence and social skills. Scottie is a very gentle but nervous dog. He plays on his own and he plays well with other dogs, but he is not yet ready to play with humans. Because of this a home with children wouldn't be a good fit for him. He would thrive in a home that can give him space and with a family who loves walks. He will claim your couch as his, so you will need to be okay with this, as this is his comfort zone. He would like you to sit next to him and pet him. A home with another dog would be ideal, as he does like to play. As mentioned, Scottie loves to go on walks and is interested in the world around him which is wonderful to watch him be curious. He does well on leash, and he is house trained and goes potty on command. He'll squeak to let you know if its been too long since you let him out. He will bark if he hears noises and sometimes at people when they come in the room unexpected, but he stops once you say hello. He likes his crate and sleeps well in it until you get him up in the morning. He is okay in cars but he really thrives best with a simple routine of walks and being in his home with his humans and another dog. Scottie needs to be in a quiet home with one or two humans who can give calm guidance with low expectations at first so he can adjust to his new surroundings on his own time. He is very sweet and will be someone's best friend, but not straight away. He would be fine in a home or apartment. He will go outside for potties but doesn't want to "hang" in the yard, he just wants to go outside for his potty breaks. Going for walks is really Scottie's jam! Can you give this sweet boy the home he needs and deserves? He will reward you with his gentle nature. Underdogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Scottie's adoption fee is $390. He is being fostered in Portland metro Area. You MUST have an Underdogs Rock Rescue application on file to request a meet with an Underdog.
