Story
They say not all superheroes wear capes, and that is certainly true about this brave and wonderful boy, Deacon. Meet Deacon, the tiny guy who has overcome so much and is making strides as he adjusts to life in the safety and comfort of Home for Good. Deacon had a rough start and it made him apprehensive to everything around him. But after endless patience, love, and care from the good humans around him, Deacon is flourishing. Deacon came to us as a stray found in Aiken, South Carolina. He is 1 year old and fully grown at 22 pounds.
Deacon is starting to really enjoy the company of other dogs and humans and has found that he quite loves to be pet by his friends. Where before he would shy away, he now approaches his human companions for affection and love. And boy, have we enjoyed giving him endless cuddles and positive affirmations. He is learning that he truly is a good boy, and we are happy to remind him each day.
Deacon would do best in a home with calm dogs and cats, and older kids who give him space as he continues to grow confident in his surroundings. He is starting to enjoy walks on a leash and learning each day the simple pleasures of sniffing and exploring while he goes on walks. Deacon is a sweetheart who is eager to be loved, and he deserves it so very much. He hopes you will consider giving him the beautiful life he deserves.
Deacon is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.

HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!
