You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Wicket  This 19-pound bundle of fluff and feelings is about 5 years old and is in a NJ foster home ready to find his furever home!  He is believed to be a terrier/Schnauzer mix… emphasis on the fluff right now   He’s currently rocking a “before” look, but don’t worry — he’s heading to the groomer this week, so stay tuned for his glow-up! Wicket came to us as an owner surrender after being bullied by his cousin (rude, honestly), and he’s more than ready to trade that drama for a home filled with kindness, cozy spots, and maybe a lap or two. He had a bath today and was an absolute rockstar — calm, cooperative, and clearly just happy to be loved on. This sweet boy is friendly, cuddly, and has that gentle little soul that just melts into you. The kind of dog who will follow you around, keep you company, and remind you daily that you’re his whole world. Wicket is going to make someone so happy. He’s that perfect mix of adorable, affectionate, and just a tiny bit scruffy (for now ). Better pictures coming soon… but trust us, he’s already stealing hearts. Meet Rocco! This special complicated little guy is about 4 years old, less than 15lbs and some type of floofy terrier/poodle type mix we are guessing. He may bark and put on a tough act when meeting new people, but is lovable and happy once he bonds and loves walks and car rides with his favorite staff. He prefers to dine alone and is looking for a calm adult home with people who will give him his space and let him come over for attention on his terms. He was never socialized with other dogs either and will loudly try to scare them away first before they can scare him. Medically, he's also a complicated little dude. His owners never brought him to a vet, even when he had a severe back injury and was temporarily paralyzed. Luckily with rest he was able to mostly recover on his own from a suspected disc injury, but is still a bit ataxic and wobbly in his hind legs. He does best walking on grass and softer surfaces with traction, and shouldn't be allowed to jump on and off furniture or do stairs as there is more of a change of re-injuring his back. He's had some GI issues on and off as well and was diagnosed with IBD after an endoscopy and GI biopsies: he's doing much better on a strict prescription diet and medications now and is well-managed We know this guy isn't an easy sell... he's not perfect, but the bond that comes with taking the time to get to know and love quirky little dogs like him is extra meaningful. This handsome little man is Chewbacca! He is a 2 year old male Yorkie/Cairn mix and weighs 9 pounds. He is super friendly and is very social. He loves to snuggle and wants to be with you at all times. He is such a little lover and he loves to run and play. He never turns down a good belly rub. He would make the perfect lap dog! He would make a great addition to just about any family! He is currently located down South at our sister shelters and available for pre-adoption. We do transports to NJ once a month. Meet Rubble (rhymes with trouble) a scruffy 7 month old little terrier mix who was abandoned in a carrier by a dumpster as a scared little puppy. We thought about naming him Dumpster Fire since his entire life has been one giant one 🗑️ 🔥, but that sounds a little awkward to be out in your yard yelling randomly. Adopted by a very loud bush active family with a pack of young boisterous children that would not leave him alone, he defending himself the only way an adorable 10lbs puppy who looks like a stuffed animal but definitely didn’t want to be treated that way could 😖. And them his owners were determine to have this awful pup euthanized and out of their house ASAP! He’s learned to protect his space, food, and resources, is very hand shy and on guard but once he realizes you aren’t an annoying toddler trying to pull his tail and you aren’t going to scream at him for protecting himself from the wild pack of children, he melts into a fun playful cuddly puppy. He’s given us no issues at all and fallen in line with the other dogs, so we see great potential in him. He’s right at that age where there’s still time to turn his life around in the right environment and with the right force-free training and socialization, but he needs someone committed to rebuilding his faith that his person will defend him so he doesn’t have to. Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
