Story
CALLING ALL LONG HAIR LOVERS! Meet Gabriel Nickname: Baby Gabe Breed: Cairn Terrier/ Papillon mix Rescue: Albert's Dog Lounge Age: 7 yrs Weight: 14 lbs Fun fact: I can’t hold my licker! I’m just so excited to be out of the puppy mill! Did you know: My foster says my hair looks like a 1920s flapper dress Foster home: Madison, WI Home state: Wisconsin Activity level: Low/Moderate Friendly with: Dogs. Cats and children are untested, but I am such a friendly boy that chances are really good that I would be totally amazing with them. Sleep style: I like to sleep belly up in the people bed, cuddled up against you. Meals: currently being hand fed chicken. Not sure if my poor teeth hurt or if I just don’t understand food from a bowl yet. Snore-o-meter: 2 (I have the sweetest little snore sometimes) Bark-o-meter: 1 (only if I am segregated away from everyone else) Shedding meter: 6 (my long hair is beautiful and will need regular brushing or it will end up on your floor) Fart-o-meter: 0 Fashion: Dapper doggy diaper wrap Signature color: Lime green Walk out song: Wherever I May Roam~ Metallica Favorite season: Spring (I want to explore the world, grass beneath my feet) Personality: Sweet, affectionate, gentle, alert, social & curious Best feature: My soulful eyes that tell you just how grateful I am to you Signature move: Smothering you with my love ❤️s: Snuggling, playing and cuddling with doggy friends, being your shadow, Netflix, hanging out on the couch, neighborhood walkies, socializing & lounging in front of the fireplace Bucket list: going camping, sniffing leaves in the fall, boat rides on the lake Will be neutered January 3 ✅ Takes treats gently ✅ Walks easily on a leash ✅ Roams freely when home alone ✅ Will be fully vaccinated January 3 ✅ UTD on preventatives ✅ Special needs: Sweet Gabriel has had an incredibly tough life to this point. He was just removed from a puppy mill, where he was forced into a life of neglect, fear, and abuse as a breeder. While he is a very sweet boy, and is incredibly well adjusted considering his past, he still does have some challenges. Puppy mill dogs may never effectively potty train. An adopter could absolutely work on potty training with him, but would need to understand that he may always be a diaper dog. He does currently wear a belly band with a poise pad inside, which works perfectly. Gabriel also is struggling with eating from a bowl. He seems to be hungry, and will eat from your hand, but at the moment, he will only take a bite or two from a bowl, maybe, before dancing away from it. I’m not sure if this is a remnant from the puppy mill or if his rotted teeth hurt so badly that eating with his face down is painful. He will be having a full dental, and any rotted teeth removed, January 3. Additional preferences: Gabriel loves to be around you. He would prefer to be around you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. He does fine free roaming the house when you are not home, but most mill dogs do not do well-being created. An adopter would have to commit to using something like an X pen or gating off an area like a kitchen or bathroom if they determined he were unable to free roam for whatever reason. Foster location: Madison, WI.   Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $300, ($550 for a pair). Story
This cutie is KIMBO, a male, Cairn Terrier/Chihuahua mix, who is around 4 years old and weighing 16 pounds. He has a rough/wiry coat that just needs routine brushing. Kimbo is a very sweet, shy dog who is great with other small dogs and enjoys playing with them for hours. When he’s done playing, he loves to nap on his foster mom’s lap. Because Kimbo is a sensitive dog who needs time to adjust to his new surroundings and people, a patient and understanding adopter is a must for him. Kimbo lives easily in a foster home with two teens and his foster mom and a few dogs; we have learned he is frightened of most men, loud noises, and sudden movements. Therefore, we are seeking a calm, female household, with or without teens, and another small, playful dog with whom he can buddy.  Kimbo enjoys going for shorter walks and will benefit from continued leash training since he pulls on his leash due to excitement; it appears he wasn’t taken for walks prior to rescue so he’s in the process of learning leash manners. Kimbo is crated when people leave the home and at night, which he accepts easily. He is mostly housebroken when taken out on a schedule.  He is uncomfortable meeting new people so he is not a dog that would do well with an adopter who wants to have a dog who goes out and meets people at events, restaurants, etc.  This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided vaccines, been dewormed, tested for diseases, neutered, and microchipped. Our online application is not functioning currently; therefore ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available upon request from acaringplace@comcast.net. We apologize for the inconvenience.A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue adopts throughout the Greater Chicagoland Area. Story
Roger is a handsome boy who is silly, sweet, and happy. He's a social little love who has the cutest greetings, happy dances, and excited spins. Roger loves going on walks, saying hi to people, and having them talk to him in a sweet voice (especially when a treat comes soon after!). He loves being included in activities with his humans, which is easy enough given his petite size! Roger has been okay with other dogs, but will do well as a solo dog where he can get ALL of the attention. He's very food motivated and this active senior is very trainable. Roger will come to you when he wants pets and attention, and he will do best in a home with someone who understands his independent nature, his need for space, and quirks about being picked up without first gaining his permission. No cats or kids for Roger, please. Roger has low to medium energy. He's a very chill boy when he wants, but if you're going on a walk or have another activity, he's always down to join you. He thrives on a consistent schedule and would do great in a home with an owner who enjoys relaxing time just as much as play time. If you are looking for a bestie that will bring you lots of laughs and who is eager to please, apply to adopt Roger today!
