Story
Looks like: Terrier mix Female, 10 years old (estimated), 9 pounds Pippie has a very clear agenda for her golden years: enjoy life to the fullest, embrace limitations of an aging body, and be as quirky as all get out. This sweet little Madam really loves to be held and cuddled and wants nothing more than to be around her favorite people. She gets along well with anyone she meets, including other dogs and also cats. In fact, at her foster home, Pippie has been caught sometimes cozying up with the other pups! But her favorite snuggle spot is right next to you on the couch or in another warm bed when you're not there to snuggle. We think she may be ok around gentle, older children, but is a bit too fragile to be around young kids. Pippie enjoys toddling around the yard for a bit or going for short walks, and then finding a warm sunny spot for a nap. She is content on car rides and also when home alone. Miss Pippie has quite a list of adorable peculiarities. For one, her stiff joints give her a bit of an old Wild West sort of swagger. For entertainment, she woo-woos when she gets excited and can be very silly and playful during her spunky moments. Her specialty moves are her wiggles while laying on her back when she is especially happy and gleeful. Pippie is on a few medications which she takes 2-3 times a day. This content little pup dreams of a loving home with caring people and a little extra space for her on the couch. Due to Pippie's current medical needs, POMDR is offering one year of medical appointments/medications through our Monterey vet clinic at no cost to their adopter. If you are interested in taking advantage of this perk, we can share more with you upon submission of your adoption questionnaire. Pippie had quite a rough past and joined POMDR after she was picked up as a stray and brought to Hitchcock Road Animal Services.

Story
Bart is the largest of the Simpson’s litter, a tiny 10 week old 5 lb Terrier mix puppy. He has a smooth coat with the cutest little scruffy chin & a chirpy bark. He has a shy, sweet nature & is the bravest of his little siblings. He has a curious personality, he’s enamored with spurts of water & getting into typical puppy mischief. He’s energetic & fast as he does little zoomies. He’s a fun, silly puppy that loves running around & playing tug, wrestling with his doggy siblings. He should have a canine sibling that he can learn from, to continue building confidence & a yard to play in. He is potty training using a dog door to go on grass & loves the freedom to go outside all day. He prefers to sleep snuggling with people & other pets instead of being in a crate. He’s fostered with multiple dogs of all sizes & ages. The puppies were terrified after being rescued but with time & a loving hand they are blossoming. They are still timid when you go to pick them up, as a baby they just don’t understand yet & are a little scared. To help gain their trust and adopter will need patience, understanding & positive reinforcement as they come out of their shell. They are scared of loud noises & when chased to be picked up, an adopter will need to play with them at their level. They would be best for dog savvy older kids that have experience being gentle with pets & keep in mind they still have sharp baby teeth. They do not live with cats but are expected to do fine with them. They are not fully vaccinated yet & cannot be on public ground where other possibly unvaccinated animals or wildlife may expose her to disease. This includes; no playing on park grass, no walks on sidewalks, no apartment common areas or dog runs, no non-fenced in yards until they are fully vaccinated. An after adoption plan will need to be in place that is specific to athis nurturing a puppy’s needs for there to be a successful transition, a family committed to providing mental & physical stimulation, socialization & structured training. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application using the link below. Our team will carefully review it to determine if you are a suitable match for the dog you are interested in. If deemed a good fit, the foster parent will reach out to schedule a meet-and-greet or seek additional information.
