Story
Meet Olive! A spirited six-year-old Cairn Terrier from Gilbert, AZ, whose personality is as vibrant as her tan coat. Olive is a medium-sized dog at thirty pounds, but don’t let her size fool you—her heart and playfulness are much bigger! Her favorite thing in the world? Squeaky toys and chasing balls! She could play fetch all day, especially if it means spending time outdoors, where she loves to roam in the yard and feel the sun on her face. Olive is well-versed in basic obedience commands, knowing sit, down, stay, high-five, shake, and wait. She has had formal training, which makes her an attentive and smart companion, especially in a peaceful environment where she can feel comfortable and safe. However, Olive is not a fan of other animals, so she needs a home where she can be the only pet. Her ideal pet parents will have a secure, fenced yard for her to play in and will understand her need for space from other dogs and cats. While Olive is a bit timid around new people at first, once she feels comfortable, her sweet side shines through. She’s the type of dog who will become your loyal companion, always eager to share her playful energy and love. Olive’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. She’s experienced two bite incidents when she felt overwhelmed or startled by sudden movements or loud noises. Because of this, Olive needs a family who can provide slow introductions to new people and always respect her boundaries. Her ideal home would be calm and child-free, where she can feel safe and secure. Health-wise, Olive is in good shape but has a liver condition that requires her to take a pill each morning and stick to a special diet. She’s up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, house-trained, and microchipped, making her ready for a new loving family who can meet her needs and offer her the calm, caring environment she thrives in. Could your home be the perfect match for Olive? She’s ready to bring her joy and playful spirit to a new family who understands her quirks and is excited to help her continue her journey. Story
Jovi is a handsome Cairn Terrier mix, about 2 years old and weighs 22 lbs. He was found as a stray wandering the streets in San Bernadino where Animal Control picked him up, he was probably on the streets for awhile as he was extremely thin. We believe he has had some trauma in his short life, he is a bit nervous, and anxious; however, is so sweet once he knows you, he will give you lots of love and affection. Jovi is very active, loves to go on walks and loves to play with his toys. He would be best suited with someone who works from home and can spend time with him. He needs an individual that can be patient and understanding. Jovi is up to date with vaccines, neutered and microchipped. If you are interested in him, please complete the application on our website: www.adoptmerescue.org. LOCAL AREA ADOPTION ONLY!

Story
Rufus is a smart, energetic, and loving little terrier who is looking for a good home. He has a ton of character and personality and has a lot of love to give. We rescued him about 6 years ago and the shelter estimated that he was about 4 years old at the time so that puts him at about 10 years old now. Rufus is house trained and knows basic commands (i.e., sit, down, stay). We are expecting a child soon and we think that Rufus should be at a home that can provide him with the time and attention he deserves. He would do well in a home that can help him channel his energy through regular walks and play. He does not do well with large dogs but get's along well with small dogs just fine. He can be a bit slow to warm but once he does you’ll have a dog that will love you with everything he has.

Story
Senior dogs need help! This sweet family is hoping for a miracle. Their mom has entered  a permanent nursing home for Alzheimer’s.  Unfortunately, her family can not care for the dogs and are searching for a place for them to go. They've reached out to multiple rescues, but no one is able to help. We are their last hope before they go to the shelter. All of the dogs are seniors, and its highly unlikely they would make it out alive. We need fosters or adopters asap. The Chihuahua is named Girlfriend, and she is actually the mother of the other dogs! Mo is the black dog, and Lily is the white dog. If we can find fosters, we will have them seen by our vet and groomed. They're low maintenance and quiet. They love to take naps and sit in the sun. Once they warm up to you, they'd love to sit next to you and cuddle.  Girlfriend, Mo and Lily are a little scared and shy right now, which is understandable given the situation. They need a loving, safe space to decompress. We will split them up if it means saving their lives. Can you help and take one? Please email contactus@dexterfoundation.com. As foster dogs, we will cover all of their expenses. You just provide the love. Please share their stories.
