Story
We have had Foxy since she was 1 year old, adopted from our local shelter after she was found on the street. She is so sweet to us but is very scared of people she doesn't know. She does not like children (at least ours) and needs to be the main/only dog that we know of.

Story
Bart is the largest of the Simpson’s litter, a tiny 10 week old 5 lb Terrier mix puppy. He has a smooth coat with the cutest little scruffy chin & a chirpy bark. He has a shy, sweet nature & is the bravest of his little siblings. He has a curious personality, he’s enamored with spurts of water & getting into typical puppy mischief. He’s energetic & fast as he does little zoomies. He’s a fun, silly puppy that loves running around & playing tug, wrestling with his doggy siblings. He should have a canine sibling that he can learn from, to continue building confidence & a yard to play in. He is potty training using a dog door to go on grass & loves the freedom to go outside all day. He prefers to sleep snuggling with people & other pets instead of being in a crate. He’s fostered with multiple dogs of all sizes & ages. The puppies were terrified after being rescued but with time & a loving hand they are blossoming. They are still timid when you go to pick them up, as a baby they just don’t understand yet & are a little scared. To help gain their trust and adopter will need patience, understanding & positive reinforcement as they come out of their shell. They are scared of loud noises & when chased to be picked up, an adopter will need to play with them at their level. They would be best for dog savvy older kids that have experience being gentle with pets & keep in mind they still have sharp baby teeth. They do not live with cats but are expected to do fine with them. They are not fully vaccinated yet & cannot be on public ground where other possibly unvaccinated animals or wildlife may expose her to disease. This includes; no playing on park grass, no walks on sidewalks, no apartment common areas or dog runs, no non-fenced in yards until they are fully vaccinated. An after adoption plan will need to be in place that is specific to athis nurturing a puppy’s needs for there to be a successful transition, a family committed to providing mental & physical stimulation, socialization & structured training. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application using the link below. Our team will carefully review it to determine if you are a suitable match for the dog you are interested in. If deemed a good fit, the foster parent will reach out to schedule a meet-and-greet or seek additional information. In the event your application isn't accepted or might be a better fit for another dog, we will provide feedback and suggest alternative matches. Your application remains active for 90 days, allowing consideration for other dogs in our care. Simply email us if there is another dog you would like your application to be applied to. [Apply Now](http://form.jotform.com/underdogca/dog-adoption-application) For application forwarding requests or any specific inquiries, you can contact us at adopt@underdogca.com. All our dogs undergo comprehensive vetting, including spaying/neutering, microchipping, DHPP, flea treatment, deworming, and Rabies vaccinations. Additional vet care is provided as needed based on their requirements. The adoption fee for this dog is $400, serving as a non-refundable donation. Story
Astor is adorable with a capital "A"! Astor is a scruffy little boy who is estimated to be around 7 years old. He is a little character who is not afraid to ask for what he wants. He loves his people and is pretty darn cute with his little walk and smile. Astor weighs about 9.5lbs. Six years ago Astor was adopted from the YCSPCA by a nice older lady who subsequently moved with Astor into a “pet-friendly” retirement community. Unfortunately, Astor did not adjust well to the move and management there determined that Astor was no longer welcome due to the defensiveness of his owner when the staff came into the apartment. So, sadly, Astor’s mom had to relinquish him so that we could find a home that was a better match for him. He’s been in a foster home since then, hanging out with his foster mom and some doggie roommates. Astor tends to be fearful, perhaps due to negative early life experiences. This causes him to be sensitive about being touched when he isn’t ready to be social. He likes to be petted but can get overstimulated and will communicate when he has had enough. After a visit to the vet, Astor is now on two anti-anxiety meds, which have helped him be much less fearful. He still can be sensitive to handling now and then but is comfortable with his foster mom rubbing his tummy, picking him up, and cuddling him on her lap for a while. Astor needs a peaceful new home that can go slow with him and win his trust so that isn’t afraid and anxious. Astor seems to prefer the company of women and takes more time to warm up to men. He will likely do best if he continues his medications. Astor would be best in an adult-only home. We don’t know how he is with cats since his foster home doesn’t have any, but he could do well living with dog-savvy cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Astor would like to be the only dog in his new home. Astor enjoys going for walks and will be patient with having his harness put on if it doesn’t involve a lot of fuss. He could easily keep his harness on all the time since he doesn’t mind it at all. He also likes to play with toys. Astor is house-trained, but like any male dog, it’s best to keep track of him when he’s in the house so he doesn’t mark on furniture. Surprisingly, Astor is a very quiet guy - he’ll bark at strangers at the door or gate, but is otherwise very quiet, unlike some dogs his size. Are you the right family to give Astor a peaceful new home?   Aster's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/  Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm and started on preventatives and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. November 5, 2024, 1:55 pm
