Story
Meet Boki, a lovable 3-4-year-old Bull Terrier with a stunning white and brown coat and a heart full of affection!
This social butterfly thrives on human attention and isn’t shy about asking for it. She’ll happily rub against you, soak up all the pets, and let even strangers scoop her up for a cuddle. Boki is friendly with both men and women and has been calm and gentle when meeting children. While she hasn’t lived with young kids before, she once encountered a group of kindergarteners on a walk and simply watched them pass by. When a 12-year-old pet her for the first time, she remained perfectly relaxed.
Boki is polite and well-mannered with other dogs but isn’t overly eager to engage in play right away. She’ll approach new dogs for a quick sniff but will return to her person when called. She gets along well with dogs her size or larger and typically avoids confrontation. However, she once stood her ground when a smaller dog tried to challenge her, so she’s best suited for interactions with similarly sized or bigger canine friends. In general, though, she’s far more interested in people than other dogs. When meeting dogs on walks, she greets them with good manners and then moves along without fuss. Boki hasn’t been tested with cats, but she has seen birds and simply observed them rather than chasing.
With a moderate energy level, Boki enjoys outdoor adventures but also knows how to relax when the fun is over. She’s an experienced walker and generally stays by her handler’s side without pulling, though at the beginning of a walk, she may tug a bit in the direction she wants to go. Thankfully, she’s very responsive—if you call her, she’ll turn around or return to you. She navigates busy streets and crowded areas with ease, making her a great walking companion.
Food is one of Boki’s favorite things, and while she doesn’t guard her meals from people or other dogs, she does have a healthy appetite! She may bark a little when first confined but quickly settles down. She’s crate-trained and stays calm, though she’s quite clever with her paws and has managed to open the door a few times. She absolutely loves playing with balls and has no issues letting a person take them from her mid-play.
Boki’s journey to adoption has been a long one. She was rescued from Haman Shelter in late 2022, wearing a red collar and a tag with the name Bokhee. At the time, she was estimated to be around 1-2 years old. Sadly, despite her friendly nature, she struggled to find a foster home and spent a full year at an outdoor boarding facility, followed by another year at an indoor one. After two years of waiting, she finally made it to AKR center, where she’s hoping to find a loving forever home. Could that be with you?
