Story
Shelby joined our family as a pup after getting lost from her pack despite efforts to find her owner. We’ve enjoyed having her and hoped to be her fur-ever home, unfortunately our circumstances have changed. Shelby is 6y/o and full of love. She is happiest with people who’ll give her affection and treats. She’s obedient with a rambunctious streak. She enjoys naps, chew toys and tug-a-war. Cold weather is her least favorite but short walks are Shelby approved! While appearing intimidating, she is very gentle. Shelby likes zoomies around the house but is most comfortable sleeping in her cozy kennel. We trained her not to run outside of our un-fenced yard or chase the geese. She likes watching nature around the fire pit but is not the best fetch dog! LOL We seek a permanent, loving home where she can stay active. Shelby would make a great companion dog for anyone who is mobile. She is observant but not very vocal. We’d love updates and photos after adoption but it’s not mandatory.

Story
Abby Cadabby, a 4-year-old English Bull Terrier, has THE BEST SMILE. She is a gentle, playful girl ready to live her forever life after being used as a breeding mama.     One of Abby’s favorite things to do is play fetch. She’s not only eager to chase after her favorite toys, but she’s also good at dropping them right back at your feet, ready for the next round. She will play as long as you are willing to keep tossing the ball. When she’s extra excited, she shows off her signature Bull Terrier “hucklebutts” and adorable bunny-like bounces.    And when the playtime winds down, she’ll roll over for belly rubs, letting you know how much she appreciates the fun.  At night, she'd like to curl up next to you with her chewy bone and snooze.  While you are away, she can be crated without a fuss, but is respectful of the space if left uncrated.    Abby has a soft and gentle nature, especially around children. When she sees little ones, her face lights up with joy and she’s ready to shower them with affection.    She is dog friendly when outside and where she has plenty of space, but when inside it can be a little too much for her. For this reason, she’d thrive as the only dog in her home, where she can soak up all the love and attention she deserves.   Most importantly, Abby is looking for someone who can spoil her with all the love she missed in her early years. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to Abby Cadabby, she’ll fill your life with magic, joy, and unconditional love.   If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Abby Cadabby’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. Story
Fence Yard Required, Wants to be an only dog. No children due to rambunctious play. Meet Caboose, AKA Boose, a resilient 4-year-old English Bull Terrier with a heart full of potential and a story that will melt yours. Rescued from a neglectful breeder situation, Caboose is experiencing the warmth and love of a home for the first time. Physically, Caboose is on the mend. He endured trauma to his muzzle, but soft baby hairs are beginning to grow back, and the pressure sores and urine burns on his back end are healing beautifully. Emotionally, he’s made incredible strides but still needs someone patient and compassionate to guide him as he learns what it means to feel safe and loved. Everyday household items can be intimidating for Caboose, as his previous life was spent outdoors chained to a tree or confined to a crate in a barn. He’s improving with potty training and is happy to wear a belly band inside to prevent accidents as he gets the hang of home life. True to his Bull Terrier nature, Caboose has a playful side that will make you smile. He’s full of puppy-like energy, complete with rambunctious play, bucking bronco moves, and the playful nibbles his breed is known for.  These are all the traits we love about bull terriers, but they do require some training through positive reinforcement to establish boundaries.   Caboose is looking for a special person to take him under their wing and show him that life is good, that he is safe, and that he’ll never have to face uncertainty again. If you have the patience to help this boy heal and the heart to love him unconditionally, Caboose is ready to begin his new chapter with you. If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Story
Taz came to us unexpected about 6 months ago with no home. I have heard her bark only a couple of times. She is very loyal, friendly and no matter what any cat, kid or other animal can get to her. She loves all and anyone with complete patience. It would be great if she was not left alone too long for she may get separation anxiety. A home with other fur friends and family would be great in making her feel complete. If I had to guess I would say she is just over 1 years of age.

Story
Say hello to Dexter!! Dexter is an affectionate young puppy who would love nothing more- than to snuggle up in your lap and be your best friend. Dexter loves to go for car rides, play in the water and just be by your side. He is doing well with potty training and rarely has an accident. Dexter is not a big fan of his crate but does settle down nicely and sleeps through the night. He is still learning his manners and currently working on commands like sit, down, place and come. He is getting better walking on the leash but could use more practice. With Dexter's love for treats, he's eager to learn and impress! If you are looking for a loving companion with lots of potential, Dexter is your guy! Highlights: **Potty trained **Crate trained **Loves car rides **Affectionate

Story
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Everyone stop what you're doing and watch as Mr. Bongo Wongo tippy taps his way into your hearts. Bongo's favorite things are people, people, and more people! He is a "social eater", only wanting to dig in under the watchful eye of his favorite people. This 4 year old goofball is here at Five Acres through no fault of his own. He has experience living with smaller dogs as big dogs are a little scary to him. We are unsure of how he would do with cats but can provide instruction on a proper cat introduction. Bongo has valuable home experience, making him an ideal addition to any family. He is house-trained and understands basic commands, showcasing his adaptability and eagerness to please. Bongo is accustomed to a routine and thrives in a loving environment, where he can engage in playtime and quiet moments alike. His previous experiences in a home setting have shaped him into a well-mannered companion, ready to bring joy and companionship to his new family. If you are interested in meeting with Bongo, please send in an application so we can set up a meet and greet as he is currently in foster!
