Story
Introducing Maddie! This adorable young lady is a 44 pound sweetheart who was born around 10/04/22. She is a beautiful red fawn bull/terrier mix who is spayed, current on her vaccines and preventatives, and is heartworm negative. Maddie is a social, friendly girl who is good with other dogs of all sizes and activity levels. She is getting better on a leash and used the puppy pad in the cold weather, although she has had few accidents. Miss Maddie thinks she is a human. She loves attention but is content to sit on your feet. She is always at attention, even in her sleep. She loves car rides and likes to barks at every 18 wheeler. She’s not a fan of the foster family’s farm pig or cat. They think she just doesn’t understand why we do not eat them. If you find space in your heart and home for Miss Maddie she will take care of you, not the other way around. Please set up a meet and greet with Maddie ASAP. She needs to find her forever home with her new forever family. So please submit an application TODAY! Please APPLY to ADOPT Maddie @ https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TAP/Dog Adoption fee: $100 (fully vetted) Fort Smith Arkansas region

Story
Rocco has spent months waiting for a place to call home. At just 10 months old, he’s still learning what it means to feel safe, to trust, and to let his guard down. Found alongside another dog, his past is a mystery, but one thing is clear—this sweet, loyal boy is ready to find a family who will give him the love and patience he needs to truly shine. Once Rocco knows he can trust you, his true personality starts to emerge. He’s affectionate and playful, eager to soak up every bit of love and attention. He’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation—he loves going for walks just as much as he loves curling up for a nap. He’s already house and crate trained and knows basic commands like sit, stay, and lay down. While Rocco adores his people, he needs a little extra time to warm up to strangers, especially men. He’s also selective with other dogs and needs slow introductions to feel comfortable. Because of his nervous nature, he wouldn’t do well in a home with children. What Rocco needs most is a calm, patient family willing to show him that the world isn’t such a scary place. He’s looking for someone who will give him the time he needs to trust, and in return, he’ll offer a lifetime of unwavering loyalty and love. If you can be that person for Rocco, he’s more than ready to meet you. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Bosko A18422743 lb. neutered male, approx 1 year old -This boy is a little anxious here and would love to find a home and family of his own!-He loves to be close for pets and attention, but will need time and patience to fully relax-He gives lots of kisses-I could not get him to engage in play with toys or me-He is treat motivated, will occasionally sit and takes them nicely-He walks nicely with minimal pulling-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids •Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Story
Meet Ritz — Ready for His Forever Home Ritz has been in our care for over three months, and this sweet 9-month-old pup is growing up in foster care while waiting for the home he deserves. At about 30 lbs, he’s a petite “mini-pittie” with a big personality, an even bigger heart, and the cutest habit of tapping his front feet when he’s excited. Ritz is a fun, goofy companion who loves to cuddle, especially with his foster dog friends at bedtime. He currently lives successfully with medium-to-large dogs and does best with calmer canine companions or dogs with a lower play style. He’s respectful of dogs who don’t want to play and enjoys simply being near his people. Cats, however, are a bit too interesting for him, so a cat-free home would be best. This food-motivated boy already sits nicely for treats, eats his meals in his crate, and settles in beautifully for couch or recliner cuddle time. He sleeps well overnight and is eager to please. Ritz shows signs of reactivity towards other dogs when physically restrained in public places. He often shows his excitement at home by wanting to put a pant leg or sleeve in his mouth, this behavior could be perceived by some as agression, however, it's truly him being excited. His foster has been working at stopping this behavior or redirecting to more appropriate items. Because of this, a home with children over 13 would be the best fit. We are happy to provide training support with an approved, committed adopter to help him continue working through things and building confidence and skills. Ritz has so much potential and is already a wonderful companion — loyal, affectionate, playful, and deeply connected to his people and residents dogs alike. He just needs someone willing to give him the chance he’s been patiently waiting for. Looking for a loyal companion who will love you wholeheartedly?
