Story
I received Lovelly as a birthday gift from my (then teenaged) grandneph-boo. He told me, "Graunnie, you need something to love". He was so right. Lovelly was a sweet little big-eyed puppy at the time and I was in my late 60's and in pretty good health. Over a couple of years, my little puppy grew while my health started to decline and I simply am unable to provide the active lifestyle she deserves. She should be running about, chasing butterflies and cats I can no longer take her for walks due to my issues. It isn't fair for her to be simply stuck with an old lady in the house. I love my puppy very much but she deserves a more active lifestyle, interactions with rambunctious kids, and an area where she can just run around. Reluctantly, I have to post and ask that she be placed in a loving, caring home. This is devastating for me, but I know it is the right thing to do. Lovelly is well-mannered and house-trained, up to date with shots and has a great veterinarian.

Story
MAX is the dog of the HOUR!!!! There isn't a better dog available. Max's life began dreadfully. In his short life of 1.5 years old, Max found himself without a home, had to have an extensive surgery on his hip due to an unknown injury, and has lived for months in a kennel in boarding at a vet clinic. He is completely vetted, up to date on vaccines, neutered, and is heartworm negative! He weighs approximately 45 to 50 pounds. Recently, Max landed the best foster home ever and is showing off his awesome personality! If you have other pets, he will love them!!! He gets along with cats, dogs, birds and even tortoises. He is very playful and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Max does like to be near his person and seems to have some separation anxiety. His favorite things are lying next to his person, playing with his Nylabone or squeaky toy, and romping and playing with a willing canine. He loves car rides and walks very well on a leash. He sits, shakes hands, and also knows other tricks. He is also very willing to learn more!! Max would excel in a home with another pet, and it would be awesome if he could be someone that works from home or could bring him to work. He has excellent house manners and does his business outside!

Story
Louie is smart, fairly calm, dog. Loves napping, treats, toys and enjoys laying in the sun. Our family enjoys Louie personality but unfortunately our 9 yr old boxer is having trouble adjusting to him. Louie is house trained and listens to all his camands. (Sit, stay, no, paw). Louie plays well with our other foster dog. They've became the best of buddies, which makes this extra tough for him and our family. Hoping to find Louie a good home with love and the experience of prior adopters. Someone who's familiar with new adjusting pups. Louie d.o.b is 9/10/22

Story
Meet Yahtzee! A 2yr old sweet and social dog who is always ready to make new friends! This charming guy has an incredibly friendly nature and gets along wonderfully with both people and other dogs. He has been to many public events and always greets everyone with a wagging tail and a smile. Yahtzee is truly a social butterfly who loves spreading joy wherever he goes! Yahtzee has a beautiful white pelt with striking black spots on his nose that make him extra adorable. He also has light pink skin that turns a bright, cheerful pink when he’s excited – a cute feature that’s sure to make you smile every time you see him! When it’s a warm day, you’ll find Yahtzee enjoying a dip in the kiddy pool, cooling off while having the best time. He’s also a playful spirit, especially when it comes to spending time with his best friend, Ace. These two have a blast together, showcasing how Yahtzee thrives in the company of other dogs. Currently in a medical foster home, Yahtzee has been excelling in a home environment. He shares his foster home with another dog and has learned plenty of good manners, including potty training, and he’s currently perfecting commands like “off,” “wait,” and “stay.” Yahtzee has been great for baths and loves to snuggle up to his foster family when they are under the weather in hopes of making them feel better. He’s come a long way, and his foster home has nothing but great things to say about him! A special update from his foster home: “Yahtzee’s pins have been removed, and the surgeon says he’s expected to make a full recovery! His leg is healing nicely.” In addition to being an all-around great companion, Yahtzee has a bit of an environmentalist side – he loves picking up empty water bottles on his walks, promoting recycling along the way! Yahtzee would thrive in a moderately active home, with or without children, where he can enjoy daily walks and explore a yard. He would also make a fantastic addition to a family that already has another dog. If you’re looking for a happy, friendly, and well-behaved pup to add to your family, Yahtzee just might be the one for you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Yahtzee, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care I have received. **Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Champ A17087460 lb. neutered male, approx 3 years old -This handsome fella is amazing and sweet!-He’s very scared and timid here but finds comfort being near you for pets-He lifts up his paw and puts it near you a little when he wants more attention-He didn’t take any treats from me. He did lick them from my hand but that was about it.-He got a quick bath and did great! He was really tolerant and good for all of it.-Walks great on a leash-He just needs to build some confidence and learn how to be a dog-I think he’ll be an amazing boy in time!-He could really benefit from a patient adopter/foster to give him time and space to be the best he can be!-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper introsUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-3:30 BUT our adoptions are done 7 days a week from 10:30am -3:00pm. •The last potential adopter must arrive before 3:00 pm so we have time to properly help you before closing. **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Story
Maitake A17080648 lb. spayed female, approx 1 year old -She’s a timid gal and most things seem like she’s experiencing them for the first time. Like belly rubs! She tenses up at first and then slightly relaxes. Then jumps up on your shoulders for hugs and lathers you in kisses. She’s trying so hard!-She wants so badly to be receiving affection but doesn’t seem to have had many experiences with it before now-She loves to sit as close to you as possible-Likes treats, sits and takes them gently-Started to engage in play with a stuffie-Walks well on a leash-Needs time and patience and ideally a low traffic home to start to open up and trust!-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper introsUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.
