Story
Nova is a very very sweet, smart and snuggly girl. She was found a couple months ago and we have had her for about a month. We think she would do best in a home without other animals. She is truly an angel by herself, but when other dogs are involved she always wants to play and has not learned when to stop. The vet thinks she is about 10 months old, but we dont truly know for sure, and we dont know her breed specifically either. She is about 50lbs right now and the vet does not think she will grow much more. She is spayed and up to date on all of her shots. We would love for her to be in a loving home with owners who will take the time to continue to train her and get her the exercise that she needs. She knows all basic commands and is leash and crate trained.

Story
We adopted Sampson from the humane society when he was 12 weeks old. He has lived with us his whole life (9 years) and has been a great dog. He is very affectionate and gentle with our two young boys. He is energetic and excited to meet new people. He is great with other dogs but prefers dogs that are smaller than him. Sampson loves to go on walks, lay in the sun, lick toes, and chase birds/bugs/squirrels. Over a year ago Sampson partially ruptured his cranial cruciate ligaments in both rear legs. He was under restricted movement for several months and has made a great recovery, though his knees still crack/pop when climbing the stairs and he gets sore if he runs around too vigorously. Sampson does not like being crated. He stays out when we leave the house and rarely causes any issues. However, he has strong anxiety around thunderstorms, which can be challenging.

Story
We are looking to rehome my elderly aunt’s pit bull terrier named Ripley. A recent decline in health has meant my aunt can no longer give Ripley the care she deserves. We are looking for a home that will love and take care of her, and preferably familiar with the breed. She is a smart, sweet, and very loyal dog that has only known one home since coming from the breeder as a puppy. My aunt loves her and would not let her go if she had a choice. We live in another state, already have two cats and cannot take her home with us. Name-“Ripley” (or “Rippy”/“Rip”) Spayed female, 7½ years old, up to date on all shots, regular vet checkups & given preventative trifexis Lots of dog supplies will come with her (training collar, treats, leashes, dog bed, carrier, etc.) Very smart, sweet and non-aggressive around people, even when paramedics, plumbers, etc. have come into the home. She hasn’t been around kids very much, although she’s been fine with those that she has

Story
Meet SallyThis beautiful girl is a super lovebug. Sally suffered all her life and very nearly didn't make it out of a kill shelter. She was overbred and abused. She suffered a wealth of health issues - torn ear, severe hernia, and heartworms. Her pain and misery went unattended until we were able to rescue her, thanks to an outpouring of support. Sally is all healed now and is a healthy girl! She’s so happy to be alive. She loves being with people. She loves giving doggie kisses and happy hippo wiggles. Her whole body shakes and squirms to show you how happy she is to be in your company. Sally is about 5 years old. She is a pretty Staffordshire terrier. Sally only weighs about 52 lbs. She’s a compact cutie patootie. She's sweet and gentle, goofy and fun. She loves her blankets and special stuffies. Her favorite things to do are to walk and sniff. She is curious about everything and follows her nose. She also loves to snuggle. She often goes on overnights with her favorite volunteer. Away from the shelter she settles in easily and loves to sleep on a comfy bed all snuggled with her person. Sally is house broken. Sally will need to be an only pet. She's not so much aggressive, but she prefers to be left alone. And she’ll chase cats. She's very smart. She loves going on car rides and adventures. Sally will need a fenced yard. She’ll be perfect for an older or less active couple. She doesn’t demand too much, just love and kindness. She is going to make for a wonderful companion for that person or family willing to open their heart and home to her. Can’t you just picture this sweetest of girls padding around your home, making everything that much better? If interested in Sally, please submit a dog application online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to let us know to be on the lookout. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
