Story
Kimbo is an extra-large bully mix, with a personality as big as his (almost) 120-pound frame. His impressive size and occasional stubborn streak can present a challenge, but his laid-back nature and affectionate personality make him well worth it. Though he walks well on a leash, Kimbo is still getting used to it and will need continued guidance to perfect his leash skills. He’s a master at claiming the comfiest spot in the house, and once settled, he’ll be the most relaxed and loyal buddy. With a little patience, Kimbo will quickly become a steadfast friend, offering his big heart and calm presence to win over anyone who meets him. He’s seeking a home that appreciates his unique qualities and is ready to give him all the love—and couch space—he deserves.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog J:5Meet Archie! This 8-month-old pup has had a tough time adjusting to shelter life. Archie is naturally very shy, hesitant around people, and seeks out quiet corners to feel safe. But here's the beautiful part of his story—Archie is thriving in the playgroup program. Around other dogs, Archie transforms into a completely different pup. His playful and gentle nature shines as he bounces around with his doggy friends, finally able to relax and be his puppy self. The influence of other dogs has been incredibly positive for Archie, showing us just how much he would benefit from a home with a confident and well-matched canine companion to help him build trust and confidence. Archie needs an adopter who will meet him where he is—someone patient, gentle, and willing to let him set the pace. At first, he may be low-energy, spending much of his time resting and adjusting to his new surroundings. But with love, understanding, and a safe space to call his own, Archie has every potential to blossom into a loyal, loving companion. If you're ready to be the hero Archie needs, he'll reward you with quiet moments of trust and the joy of seeing him come out of his shell, one small step at a time. Could you be the one to give Archie his second chance?January 30, 2025, 3:27 pm

Story
Dumpling is such a sweet girl! This pup was dumped at Milo, but it hasn't affected her loving nature. She is a total LOVEBUG and wants cuddles and attention all the time, and would be happy to snuggle her humans on the couch, if allowed. She's great with other dogs, and would love a home with a playful pup, but could do well in a home by herself, providing she's given plenty of love and training. Initial exposure to cats and chickens have been positive, where she's shown curiosity but not aggression, so with appropriate introductions, she may be able to live with cats and other animals. She's still a pup and she learns about the world around her through mouthing. She's gentle though and her wonderful fosters are redirecting onto toys, which she's starting to pick up. She's also working on her leash skills and house training, as well as other basic commands. She is taking well to crate training so far. Dumpling would do best in a home that is able to give her daily walks, LOTS of snuggles, and work on basic training and socialization. Does Dumpling sound like a fit for you? Apply today to meet this cutie!

Story
This beautiful lady is Darlene. She's a black and white Bull Terrier mix. Darlene was surrendered back to HSNB after her adopter passed away and their children didn't have time to care for her. This sweet girl is very ready to find her forever home. Not only is Darlene incredibly friendly and sweet, but she's house-trained and also has some impressive house manners! Darlene is very dog-selective and would do best as the only dog that steals your heart and your couch. If you're looking for a new furry friend who will bring endless joy and love into your life, look no further than Darlene! She's playful, she loves to go on walks and she's a joy on-leash. Story
Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.
She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.
Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Ella is a great dog looking for a home where she is loved and cherished. Would you be the one for her?" Ella is now being fostered in Oakland, CA and her adoption fee is $275.00 Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great gal or for an application to adopt.
