Story
How this pet arrived: Princess was brought in by their previous owner. Why Princess might be the one for you: Is it possible for a dog to be pink and white? Might be how she got her name because Princess has a gorgeous white coat with pink highlights - yes, she has pink ears, nose and eye accents. Her foster parent describes her as an amazing lady who thrives off human contact that includes lots of pets, belly rubs and cuddles. She warms up to people quickly and wants to be friends with everyone. Truth be told, she prefers her people to other dogs. She loves going on long walks, playing fetch and is quite skilled at winning tug of war. She is a sweet and playful girl who is always ready to brighten your day. Whether she's zooming around with excitement or cuddling up for some affection, Princess knows how to make you smile. She would love a home where she can get plenty of playtime and attention. If you want to meet this Princess , contact us and we will make arrangements. When you meet her, rub her belly, play tug of war and if you take her home you will have a white dog with pink highlights who will light up your life. At SDHS:This Princess has been vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered and is now ready for her new home! Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 35.5 Age: 6yrs 5mths 2wks

Story
How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by a community member on 2/28/2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Violet is a gentle, shy dog who is looking for a loving and understanding home. While Violet can be nervous in new environments, especially with loud noises or sudden movements, she warms up quickly to people who offer her gentle reassurance. She is a bit skittish at first but with patience and kindness, she begins to relax and show her sweet nature. Violet is easily leashed and enjoys a calm walk, though she may freeze momentarily to take in her surroundings.Violet has shown to be good with respectful children that allow her to warm up slowly. Violet has shown some signs of potential separation anxiety, but with consistent training, patience and positive reinforcement, this can improve.Violet would do best in a quiet, patient home where she can feel safe and secure. She may need a bit of time to adjust to new situations, but once she does, she will reward you with her calm and affectionate presence. If you're looking for a sweet, shy companion who will bond deeply with you, Violet could be the perfect fit. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. Story
Rocky is a sweet hero of a dog that watched over my grandma. He is not good with other dogs but is good with people and desperately needs as better home due to many tragedies that have occurred. I am able to transport from Texas to CA, or AZ, NM. We are trying to do this soon due to the emptying of the home he resides in. Rocky was adopted by my uncle to live with him and my grandmother in Texas and he was their family dog until my grandmother passed away in march 2022, sadly and suddenly my uncle followed her dying in December of the same year. My mom, who had dogs of her own cared for Rock at my grandparents home while trying to rehome him and my mom suddenly passed away in June 2024, I live in CA and my brother in TX who has 4 dogs of his own has been able to help but only in the same manner as my mom but this cannot continue any longer. We have tried Social media, family and friends, and humane society but have had no luck. We want the best outcome possible

Story
Mack is an incredibly sweet, submissive and playful guy who came to Mad Mutts via Downey animal shelter in Los Angeles. Mack is a bull terrier mix and really has the same build as a standard bull terrier. He is shy at first but once he feels comfortable he is so incredibly sweet, gentle, and loves to play. He does great with other dogs and in fact would probably do best in a home with another dog to help him feel more confident. Mack is house trained, crate trained, and easy on leash. This guy is ready to roll! He just needs a family that will be patient as he warms up to them. Mack is not just a good boy, he's a great boy.

Story
My boys came from a litter that was fostered by an old coworker of mine and are attached at the hip. Two of the sweetest pups around s as much as it hurts my heart to let them go my schedule doesn’t allow me to take care of them like they should. PJ (Black & White) is the big shy baby I’ve had them since they were 3 months old and he’s still very timid if his brother isn’t right next to him. Once he finally gets comfortable all he’ll want to do is lay under you all day. And Pluto (Grey) is the big brother I’d like to say a lot more in your face than his brother but I’d a sight for sore eyes after a long day of work. My deployment is coming up soon with a very hectic schedule following and I want my boys to get the attention and love they deserve!

Story
Hi there! Is it your lucky day? Because my name is Lucky, and I am searching for my forever family. I am a young girl, around 2 years old and considered a pocket English Bully mix. My foster family found me as a stray on the trail with a broken leg and hip, but I am healing fast! I went through some tough times and can be nervous around men, but once I feel safe, I warm up quickly. My fosters say I am a sweetheart with lots of love to give. I am a pro cuddle bug who adores chin scratches and finding the perfect nap spot. I am crate trained and ready for more positive experiences with humans and dogs. Adopting me will make us both so lucky!

Story
*This is a courtesy listing.* King is a 10-year-old Bull Terrier who deserves a wonderful home for his golden years after being let down by the people in his life. This resulted in him ending up in Downey Shelter sad, scared, and confused. Fortunately, King now has California Paws Rescue in his corner! King LOVES people. He does okay with other dogs, but he can be a little hesitant because of his limited vision. King is stressed in California Paws Rescue's facility, understandable after all the recent upheaval in his life! They would love to find a foster (or forever) home for King. If you can give King a calm, loving home where he can decompress until his forever family comes for him, please call (760) 656-3833 or email californiapawsrescue@gmail.com. *FFF has not assessed this dog medically or behaviorally.*

Story
Meet Domino Don! Domino Don came to us from Bonita Shelter on January 18th. He is estimated to be 8 years old and weighs 47 lbs. Domino is a total sweetheart! Domino loves going on our Sunday morning Frosted Faces hikes. He’s definitely going to be a favorite. He’s a spunky, energetic, and walks well on a leash. Once Domino releases some of his excitement, he walks right by your side and often looks up to make sure things are good. Domino loves attention and having his chin scratched. He loves every person who walks by his kennel or enters the play yard. Domino went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn what he is like in a home. Here is what we learned from his Fling Mom: Domino Don is one special guy! Despite being 8 years old, he has the energy and zest for life of a much younger dog. With his playful spirit and loving nature, he’s sure to brighten your day! Domino loves to be close to his person, always wagging his tail and ready for affection. He’s a true companion who thrives on connection and will follow you everywhere! Domino’s Highlights: * Domino rides well in the car and can hop into an SUV with ease (he might need a little help getting into higher vehicles, but he’s happy to try!). * He has made significant progress on commands like “sit” and “stay” (though a little extra training wouldn’t hurt!). * While he’s a good walker, he does tend to pull when he’s intrigued by something. He’ll need a bit of training to refine his leash manners. * Domino is a talker! He has a unique vocalization, almost like a purring growl, whenever he wants attention and loves to be petted. * He has no separation anxiety – you can leave him alone for hours, but be mindful of small items like shoes that he could reach. * Domino sleeps soundly through the night, either on his dog bed or the couch (he prefers not to sleep on the bed). * He’s calm and well-behaved around other dogs and people, as seen on walks through Dos Picos Park, where he was relaxed and well-mannered. * Domino loves to run and would be a great companion for someone who jogs or runs regularly. * He’s a pro during bath-time! If you’re looking for a playful and loving bestie who will always be by your side with a wagging tail, Domino Don could be your perfect match! Domino Don is back on-site and ready for a forever home. Drop by between 10 AM and 3 PM any day of the week to meet this wonderful boy!

Story
Attention Active Dog Lovers, Boxer and Ridgeback Enthusiasts! Meet Groot! Current Location: Rockdale, TX Hey there! I’m Groot, a 3-year-old Boxer/Ridgeback blend with a heart of gold and a comedic personality. From California to Texas, my journey has brought me to a sunny sanctuary in Texas where I've been living my best life, running free and making friends. But now, I’m on the lookout for a forever home. Although I'm currently in Texas, I'm ready to take my comedy on the road for the right family! What Makes Me Special I’m Affectionate: my cuddles are the cure for any bad day. I’m Adventurous: Whether it’s a game of fetch or a jog in the park, I’m always ready to move! I’m Friendly: Other dogs? Bring them on! My heart's big enough for everyone. I’m Funny: Need a laugh? My playful nature and silly antics will keep you entertained. I’m Smart: I’m house-trained and eager to learn—I’ve got the brains and the brawn. I’m Curious: The world is my playground, and I’m excited to explore it with you. Check out my Bucket List Hiking: I've heard about these amazing trails, and I can't wait to explore them! Beach Day: Splashing in the water and playing fetch on the sandy shores sounds like a blast. Dog Parks: I've heard dog parks are the best places to make new friends and show off my playful side. Jogging: Count me in—I'm ready to let my athleticism shine. Camping: I can't wait to go camping and explore the great outdoors. My curiosity and love for adventure make me the perfect camping buddy. Furever Home: Last but not least… I’m ready for a family with kids over 14, as my energy might be too much for the little ones. Adopt me and I’ll fill your home with laughter, love, and a whole lot of tail wags. Story
Ivy is a Courtesy Post Only and is not a Second Chance Dog Rescue dog. SCDR is not responsible for any ownership, behavior, health, and representations made by the owner with respect to this dog. You must contact her adoption coordinator Ana at Ana@thriveanimalrescue.com for further information.  Ivy is a sweet, silly, cuddly, and affectionate girl - as of September 2024, she has been with us waiting for her forever family for over 456 days which is mind-blowing to staff at Thrive because of how great of a dog she is. Let's prioritize giving this lovebug a much deserved home for her to call her own!! Personality : She is a medium to high energy dog who loves to play - she enjoys mental and physical stimulation such as going for hikes or long walks/runs. She loves playing with other dogs and her people friends, but then she’s happy to relax and sunbathe in the yard after to decompress. Her favorite move is to flop on her back and show you her belly to ask for rubs :) Her Boxer zoomies will make you laugh! Training : Ivy has been going to doggie day care multiple times per week to hang out with all of her dog friends and has been doing great!! Despite her roughhousing playstyle with other large dogs, she is extremely gentle with puppies. She walks nicely on a leash and knows basic commands.  Ivy is on a special low-fat diet and we recommend that adopters keep her on this upon adoption to ensure she’s in tip-top health. The perfect forever family : She would do great in an active household with a young couple who loves to hike or go on adventures, and is good with kids 13+. She would likely love another active doggie friend. Ivy is available for a long-term committed foster or forever family. For further information or to meet Ivy, please contact Ana, Adoption Coordinator at Ana@thriveanimalrescue.com.  December 10, 2024, 4:48 pm
