Story
Hiya! My name is PERLA and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Bull Terrier/Corgi Mix  Age: approx. 3 years Gender: Female Weight: 44 lbs, 20 kg Height: approx. 50 cm (paws to top of head) Length (nose to butt): approx 80 cm Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY – I was found wandering the streets of Xochimilco, Mexico City. This is a well-known area of high abandonment. My rescuer found me next to the body of my furry companion and I was very scared. Seeing that I had recently had puppies and was very vulnerable, she took me to be spayed, so that at least I would be in less danger. However, once I recovered, she couldn't return me to the streets,  and although there are many dogs already in the shelter, they made a little space for me! Now I'm ready for a home that will welcome me with open arms. TEMPERAMENT - I am a calm, sweet girl who is pretty darn chill. I almost never bark and I really just love to keep my rescuer company-- big people gal! I like to play with my sheltermates of all sizes but overall I'm pretty chill and happy to just hangout. Good news, I don't show any resource guarding when food is out (video). I am incredibly tolerant with the younger puppies at the shelter and have the perfect balance of play and teaching in my interactions with them (video). My true mama instincts kick in in these settings! ENERGY LEVEL - low/medium energy. I'll be the perfect balance of walkies + snoozies!  GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Dogs – Yuppers! I'm social at the shelter and I like hanging out with my friend Sunny (video). I'm a pretty neutral girl around my shelter friends.  Cats – Unknown. I haven't met cats, so I don't know how I will behave with them. TRAINING: Leash skills – The shelter I live at is on a big property, so I don't get a ton of leash-walkin' experience. Check out my videos though-- I'm not too shabby for having very little practice! (video, video) I don't seem at all phased by noisy traffic going by! I pull a little bit sometimes, so I'm looking for a patient adopter who can help me work on my leash manners. House trained – Not yet! With multiple dogs at the shelter, I don't get the 1-on-1 attention needed to achieve house training status. Positive reinforcement and lots of frequent bathroom breaks will help me learn new habits in my forever home :) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed and vaccinated. I have proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will have my teeth cleaned before I fly home! I receive a monthly pill to prevent heartworm. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD ($750.00 + GST and PST) ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. Story
Meet Maverick, a joyful 6-year-old Boxer with a heart full of love and a zest for life! This sweet guy is happiest when he's with his people and loves having company, whether that's hanging out with his human family or playing with other dogs.Maverick has lived with another dog before but is selective with the dogs that he enjoys interacting with. We have seen some reactive behaviour towards other dogs but with proper introductions and a well matched dog, he may do well having a few canine friends. We aren't sure how he would do with cats, so a slow introduction would be important if you have feline friends.Even though he can been known to take a solid couch nap, this guy loves to go go go! He is very energetic and playful so is looking for a home who can provide him with daily walks and space to do his zoomies. He can also show jumpy behaviour as he just wants to greet you right up close so a home with no small children would be ideal. If you think Maverick sounds like the guy for you, please submit your online application! Maverick will be available to go into a local foster-to-adopt home until his dental surgery is completed. If you have questions about this, please reach out to the Abbotsford BC SPCA staff at abbotsford@spca.bc.ca. Primary Color: Brindle Secondary Color: Grey Weight: 34.5 Age: 6yrs 1mths 2wks
