Story
Meet Zeke — A Gentle Heart Just Waiting to Belong Zeke isn’t just any dog. He’s the kind of soul you feel lucky to meet — the kind who looks at you with quiet eyes full of hope, and a heart that’s been waiting patiently for someone to understand him. At 9 years old, Zeke is a 42 lb beautiful orange and white roan neutered Brittany with a soft spirit and a heart full of love. He’s the perfect balance of calm and playful — he’ll chase a ball with joy, track scents on a walk like a true Brittany, and then curl up peacefully beside you, content just to be near. He especially loves a good rump rub, which brings out the cutest happy dance you’ve ever seen. Zeke is housebroken, crate trained, and has wonderful manners in the home. He’s lived peacefully with other dogs and has shown that, with time and patience, he can be a loyal and gentle companion to both humans and canine friends alike. UTD on vaccines, heartworm and tick neg and on prevention. A healthy boy. But Zeke’s journey hasn’t always been easy. New places and new people — especially men — can make him nervous. He may pace or hang back at first, finding a quiet corner until he feels safe. But with gentle encouragement, soft words, and a kind touch, he slowly opens up — and when he does, it’s beautiful. He starts to trust. To seek out affection. To believe he’s home. He’s already learning how to sit, lay down, give a high five, and touch your hand with his nose. He loves food puzzles and training games — not just for the treats, but for the connection. Every small success builds his confidence, and you can see him shining a little more every day. Zeke doesn’t need much — just a patient, loving person or family willing to walk beside him as he continues to discover how good life can be. Someone to celebrate his quiet victories and give him the safety and love he’s always deserved. If you’re looking for a dog who will love you with his whole heart, who will remind you that trust is a gift and love is worth waiting for — then Zeke might be your heart dog. He’s not just looking for a home. He’s looking for his person. Maybe… it’s you. The adoption fee for OK/Zeke Zek, who lives in Tulsa, OK is $350, which helps to offset our vetting and allows NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members. If you are interested in making OK/Zeke Zek part of your family, please complete the online application by visiting www.nbran.org . Contact the South Central Region Coordinators Melinde Waddle at macgammy@gmail.com and/or Chris Wagoner at cwnbran@gmail.com and/or Nancy Walker at nwalker@capecod.net and then let your state coordinator know so we can get the ball rolling. A phone interview, home visit, and vet check will be required as part of the approval process by your state coordinator, before talking to the foster of Zeke Zek. Transportation can be arranged up 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for at least the last 100 miles. May 17, 2025, 5:46 pm
