Story
Penny is a 19 month old Brittany/Hound mix. She is UTD on vaccines, microchipped, Heartworm negative and on preventative.  She minds her foster mom really well and has great recall. Penny knows the command sit and is working on stay. She is not very vocal and does not bark much. She loves running in the yard and is good with other dogs. Penny loves her toys and she also loves treats. Penny is a very healthy girl. Penny's foster mom says she is not destructive and loves to lounge in her dog bed. Because she gets overly excited, Penny jumps on people, but her foster mom is working with her.  Because of her jumping, Penny will not be a good fit for a home with small children.  Penny is being fostered in Tennessee. Her adoption fee is $325.00 and can be transported up to 1400 miles via our Canine Railroad with the adopter taking the last leg, usually less than 100 miles.  Applications for Penny can be found on www.nbran.org.  For more information, email dltuthill@epbfi.com or ztasuzanne@gmail.com.  September 6, 2024, 6:40 pm

Story
Hi, my name is Daisy and I'm looking for my forever home. I'm a Brittany mixed with red/white Irish Setter so I have long legs and a long bushy tail!  I'm 2 years old and very healthy, even though I was found wandering around on my own.  I ended up in a shelter and no one claimed me, so NBRAN saved me!  My foster mom says I am an all around great girl, who just needs some training! I love everyone that I meet - all humans, kids, dogs and cats! I am playful and would love to have another dog playmate in my new home. I am also content to lounge on the couch.  I weigh about 49 pounds and can stand to still gain a few. Remember, I'm very leggy! I really need a large fenced yard that I can run in and get my energy out.  If I don't have an outlet for this energy, then I can get into mischief if I am left home alone. I get bored and stir crazy. I do some counter surfing. I also might dig around in the trashcan if that's left out to tempt me. So, my house manners are still a work in progress.  I normally do great on a leash with harness, but sometimes I get very excited to see other dogs, that I will pull like crazy.   I do know the command sit, but still working on not jumping on people. I just really love people, so I get really excited and don't understand personal space. I am very loving and easy going, and would love to be your companion!  I am located in eastern North Carolina and can be transported up to 1400 miles.  I ride great in the car, but can be a little timid about getting in initially. My adoption fee is $325.  If you think I could be your new best friend, please submit an adoption application and mention my name! Please message jessica@thesouthernway.com with any questions. September 6, 2024, 6:40 pm

Story
Handsome Duke is so deserving of that royal title!  This is a majestic liver and white Brittany with beautiful markings and a sweet demeanor. Duke came to NBRAN as an owner surrender. Sadly, Duke had an infected eye a few years back he had to have his left eye removed. Because of his blindness in his one eye, Duke will not be placed in a home with young children or overly active dogs that could startle him.    Duke is laid back and while he doesn't mind other dogs, he's just as happy to entertain himself.  His latest hobby is running in his backyard looking for winged creatures to bark at like the true bird dog that he is!  He would need a nice, fenced yard so he can run around and chase all the birds and critters.  Duke is housebroken and easily learned to use his foster's doggy door right away.  He has had no accidents in the house.  He has also earned is foster's trust to the point where he need not be crated overnight any longer or when left at home for extended periods.  He is always sure to find the comfiest cushioned spot to lay! Training is ongoing and Duke has mastered "sit" and "wait" and will faithfully do so before feeding or walking.   Leash walking is a work in progress and the proper halter or collar (and some more practice) will help.   Duke is pretty good about counter surfing but if a tasty looking morsel is left too close to the edge, he may take advantage of the situation.  Continued training will likely take care of that. This charming boy will need a physical fence to prevent him finding an interesting diversion in another yard.  Duke will do best in a home where his family is committed to continue his training and provide consistent reinforcement.  He might be best suited as an only dog where he doesn't need to share attention but would also thrive with a canine buddy of similar size. The adoption fee for Duke is 350.00 which helps to offset NBRAN's vetting and to help medical care for Brittanys in foster care. He is UTD on his vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered, and is microchipped. He weighs 50 pounds, He is not overweight, just a solid boy.  Duke can be transported up to 1400 miles via the Canine Railroad with the new family driving the last leg.  Please complete an application at NBRAN.org and your state coordinator will be in touch. Duke is located in Kentucky. You may contact the Kentucky state coordinator's if you have any additional questions. Neca neca227@gmail.com or Amy amypgay@gmail.com      September 6, 2024, 6:40 pm
