Story
Meet Ariel!  She is a 2.5 year old, Brittany-Australian shepherd mix who loves people, is well-adjusted, and socialized.  She has lived with other dogs and always enjoys their company.  She would do well in a home with another dog to play with.  Ariel loves playing fetch and tug of war, and cuddling with her humans.  She is housebroken, crate-trained, and knows her basic commands.  She loves to take walks and needs daily, interactive exercise with her people.   Ariel does need a home with a yard that has a secure, physical 6 foot tall fence.  Ariel is looking for a home that will  give her the love, exercise, treats and cuddles that she deserves.      Ariel is spayed, current on her vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped.  Ariel’s adoption fee is $325.00 which helps to offset our vetting and allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members.    If you are interested in making Ariel a member of your family, please visit www.nbran.org and complete the on-line adoption application form under the Adopt tab.  Once the application has been reviewed, you will be contacted by your state coordinator.  A phone interview, home visit, and vet check will be required as part of the approval process.  Once all three have been approved, we will begin the matching process.  Please realize that all our dogs are placed in the most appropriate home for their individual needs within the transport distance identified below.  We do not operate on a first-come, first-serve basis.   Ariel is eligible to be transported through our canine railroad up to 1400 miles from the Phoenix metro area with the adopter being responsible for the last leg, usually less than 100 miles.    February 17, 2025, 8:43 pm

Story
Hi everyone – I’m Lucy, a very mischievous 12 year-old.  I love my daughter Susie and we go everywhere together so I’m looking for a home where we can be adopted together. Why Lucy and Susie are such a perfect pair and will only be adopted together: They are bonded at the hip and literally don’t like to go anywhere without each other.  They love being together and caring for one another. They love everybody! They are great with other dogs and humans of all ages. (Ok maybe they love cats a little too much to share a home with them.)  Golden years but with loads of energy!  Don’t be fooled by their ages – while they are mature, sweet-natured, and well-socialized companion dogs, they both still have plenty of spunk and love to play, run, and explore even while they like their quiet time and snoozing by your side. They are Brittanys with the dial turned down just a tad.  Perfect for the Brittany lover. They represent all the classic traits of the breed. Cuddle masters? Check. Outdoor adventures? Yes please. Pulling on the leash? Of course, but they are making great progress (their foster dad suspects these two may have hunted in their younger years – they just can’t help but explore the world with their noses!). These two will need a home with a good sized yard with an extremely secure 6-foot physical fence.  They are spayed, current on their vaccinations, heartworm, negative, and microchipped. Lucy’s corner: Not to brag, but my foster parents say I am pure sweetness.  I like to think of myself as the matriarch of the house:  confident, curious, and tail always wagging.  You’ll often find me  waddling around the house checking on everyone in the family.  Who are you calling old:  The vet says I’m in excellent health!  Twelve years young. Did I tell you I’m rather adventurous?  I love to explore the yard and look for escape routes to go on walkabouts.  I consider myself an explorer so you had best be attentive and vigilant.   My foster parents say that is why I need a really secure fence both at the bottom and top.  Lucy’s adoption fee is $250.00 (their combined adoption fee is $500.00).  Note Lucy and Susie are eligible for the senior-to-senior adoption fee of $150.00 per dog for qualified adopters ($300.00 combined senior-to-senior adoption fee).   If you are interested in making Lucy and Susie members of your family, please visit www.nbran.org and complete the on-line application found under the Adopt tab. Once the application has been completed, you will be contacted by your state coordinator.  A phone interview, home visit and vet check will be required as part of the approval process.   Please realize that all our dogs are placed in the most appropriate home for their individual needs.  We do not operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. Lucy and Susie are eligible for our canine railroad and can be transported up to 1400 miles from Portland OR with the last leg (100) being driven by the adopter.      February 1, 2025, 10:19 pm

Story
Hi everyone – I’m Susie, a very active 10-year-old.  I love my mom, Lucy, and I'm looking for a home where we can be adopted together. Why Susie and Lucy are such a perfect pair and will only be adopted together: They are bonded at the hip and literally don't like to go anywhere without each other.  They love being together and caring for one another. They love everybody! They are great with other dogs and humans of all ages. (Ok maybe they love cats a little too much to share a home with them.)  Golden years but with loads of energy!  Don't be fooled by their ages - while they are mature, sweet-natured, and well-socialized companion dogs, they both still have plenty of spunk and love to play, run, and explore even while they like their quiet time and snoozing by your side. Susie’s corner: They call me Susie the Snuggler! I love to squish my way onto your lap or melt into bed with my mom Lucy.  I do have some arthritis so I’m on daily medication that really makes me feel so much better and allows me move like I’m years younger than I am. My heart of gold has a slight murmur, but the vet says I’m ok and it just needs to be monitored. We did lots of tests so we can keep a close eye on it as the years go by! Susie’s adoption fee is $250.00 (their combined adoption fee is $500.00).   Note Susie and Lucy are eligible for the senior-to-senior adoption fee of $150.00 per dog for qualified adopters ($300.00 combined senior-to-senior adoption fee). Story
Ready For Adoption After 1-15-2025 Merlot, an 8-year-old beauty with white fur dotted with orange spots and a tail (!), is one of the Louisiana 18. When she arrived at her foster home in Denver last May, not only was she heartworm positive, but she had intestinal worms and a UTI.  Her teeth are in bad shape, and they must all be removed (NBRAN will be covering this expense).  She will be so happy to be free of pain and a mouth full of infected teeth! She will have no eating restrictions once this life changing procedure has been completed.  She was confused by her new surroundings and subdued in demeanor,  but Merlot quickly blossomed in her new environment with her dog pals, Charlie (dachshund) and Milo (duck tolling retriever mix), and foster mom. Though she ate her meals off the floor at first, wasn’t sure what a dog bed was and didn’t know that relieving herself inside was against the rules, she gradually figured things out and began to enjoy all the comforts of living in a home with a human and canine family. With the help of medication, her intestinal worms and UTI cleared up. She tolerated her heartworm injections well—though, as a typically high-energy Britt (affectionately known as Cuckoopants and Mistress of Mayhem), was less tolerant of being confined!  She prefers to hang out on the dog bed or by your feet.  She is not a fan of the crate as she has spent her entire life being confined.     Despite Merlot’s sad beginnings and the abuse and neglect she suffered for years, she is an incredibly sweet girl with a lighthearted spirit. She enthusiastically greets her foster mom by jumping on her legs and nipping under her neck with love kisses. She loves getting brushed and all the scratches.  Most of all, though, she loves people—and they love her back. All the veterinarians who have treated her are unanimous in their praise.  PLEASE give this girl a chance..she will be your perfect companion. The adoption fee for Merlot, who lives in Aurora, CO is $350,  which helps offset our vetting and allows NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members.  If you are interested in making Merlot a part of your family, please complete the on-line application by visiting   www.nbran.org   .    Your state coordinator/volunteer will conduct a phone interview, home visit and vet check as part of the approval process.  Once all 3 have been approved, we will begin the matching process.        Merlot is NOT eligible for transportation.  She must stay in the local area as her cardiologist and dentist are here.  If there are special circumstances, this can be discussed.          February 17, 2025, 8:43 pm

Story
Figge, pronounced FIG.  Also affectionately known as Figge Newton.  Figge is a 1 1/2 year old, 45 pound, orange and white, neutered, purebred Brittany with a long tail.  His young spirit requires an active family that will meet his high energy, desire to exercise, and love for fun.  Figge is squirrel obsessed!  Chase them, dart after them, and even clear a 5ft fence if he has the chance.  Figge's yard MUST BE a 6ft fence, iron, cinder block, or a townhome with no fence would be preferred.  This youngster is very athletic and most certainly will keep you on your toes!  But, what young Brittany doesn't?  What does this mean?  Figge needs lots of exercise and someone committed to his future training.     After his physical needs are met, he is Mr. Chill.  He is one of the mushiest Britts you will ever meet.  Figge is extremely affectionate and loves everyone.  He is happy to sit on the couch with you while you read, lay in bed and watch Netflix or just cuddle.  He adores the teenagers at his foster family and would love kids of his own, that are older and considerate.  His spunky nature could easily knock over a young child, so the preference is 10 years and up.  Figge is such a good boy!     Figge needs another dog in the home.  He does not care what breed, but his future sibling must be able to match his energy and play style.  He has learned basic commands like sit, wait, down, and even shake.  He is a fast learner and would make a great companion for obedience or agility.  He is so smart and ready for his next adventure with his forever people.       He rides great in the car, is potty trained, crate trained and is pretty good on the leash.  He acts like a Walmart greeter when out walking, as he loves to say HI! to all dogs and humans.  Since he is a youngster, still in the chew phase, he is only crated when the foster family leaves the house as he is not 100% trustworthy with toys yet.  Figge can only have indestructible toys like Kongs, Goughtnuts, Westpaw, Tuffy, hard rubber ChuckIt balls and supervised puzzle games.   He loves ice cubes and will come running to the kitchen when he hears the dispenser.     The adoption fee for Figge, who lives in Highlands Ranch, CO is $400,  which helps offset our vetting and allows NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members.  If you are interested in making Figge a part of your family, please complete the on-line application by visiting  www.nbran.org .    Your state coordinator/volunteer will conduct a phone interview, home visit and vet check as part of the approval process.  Once all 3 have been approved, we will begin the matching process.        Transportation can be arranged up 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for at least the last 100 miles.   February 16, 2025, 1:15 am

Good with dogs,
Story
Betty is an approximately two-year old Brittany with a tail.  She is very energetic, loves people, is very affectionate, and gets along well with mellow dogs.  When Betty came into rescue she had a painful, chronically infected, congenitally blind eye.  After consultation with the vet, NBRAN had the defective eye removed and Betty has thrived now that she is out of pain.  Because of the blindness in her one eye, we will not place Betty in a home with young children or overly active dogs who could startle her.   Betty is a bigger brit and weights close to 50 pounds.  She is current on her vaccinations, HW negative, spayed, housebroken, and crate-trained.     Betty will need a home with a good-sized yard with a secure 6-foot physical fence so she can run her favorite zoomies.  A yard with trees and bushes for birds would be heaven for Betty because she is very birdy and loves to go on point.  She will need an active adopter or family that will provide the daily exercise she needs.  Betty would do well with a regular walker or runner.  Her new owner will be expected to continue working with her on leash work and manners.  The adoption fee for Betty $400.00 which helps to offset our vetting and allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members. If you are interested in making Betty a member of your family, please visit www.nbran.org and complete the on-line adoption application form under the Adopt tab.  Once the application has been reviewed, you will be contacted by your state coordinator.  A phone interview, home visit, and vet check will be required as part of the approval process.  Please realize that all our dogs are placed in the most appropriate home for their individual needs.  We do not operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. Betty is eligible to be transported through our canine railroad up to 1400 miles from central CA with the adopter being responsible for at least the last 100 miles.November 4, 2024, 9:17 pm
