Story
Well, You won't be surprised to hear that this boy was a show cat. We have his TICA paperwork. Kelsey has a wonderful, goodnatured personality in a beautiful, strong silver grey body. I can easily imagine him being held up high for all to see in the show ring. Maybe not that high. At 12 pounds of solid muscle he is a big boy as the British Shorthairs tend to be. We don't know all his history but I expect that he was not neutered til later in his life and that he fathered lots of kittens. Kelsey knows about the importance of his role in the world and he still has unfriendly feelings toward other males. He seems ok with females and being an only cat would be fine with him. His appearance immediately grabs your attention. He is big with broad, strong shoulders (typical of the breed) and wonderful big silver feet. But it is his friendly, interactive personality that that pulls you to him. He likes humans of all sorts. Often ( smelly ) intact males are kept secluded and are less socialized. Fortunately that must not have been true for this boy. He is used to being the center of attention and he is great fun to be around. British Blues are known for their calm, gentle personality. Kelsey will prefer to sit next you rather than on you.(All good given his size.) We can pick him up, he is goodnatured, but being carried around or held on a shoulder is not really his thing. He is a loyal, loving guy who wants his human companion. He is not fat but the British Blues can become overweight in later life so his food needs to be light on carbs and offer a good quality protein. Kelsey will make someone, or some family, a great companion. He would be fine as an only pet or maybe in a home with one or more older females. I don't know how he is with dogs. He would probably be fine with kids over three feet high. He is a good family cat, friendly and easy going. I want to add that he is perfect with his litterbox because sometimes people worry about cats neutered later in life.We have had no problems at all with Kelsey. Kelsey eats wet and dry food and loves churus. Kelsey is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, and microchipped. He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz. Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home. If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Kelsey please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at harrietluvskitties@yahoo.com If you are unable to reach Harriet please email us at info@purebredsplus.org. NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone's best interests!
