Story
Good With Dogs: Yes Good With Cats: Unknown Good With Kids: Unknown Kennel Trained: Yes Age: 3 Yrs Spayed: No Meet Chip, a shy and loving 3 year old Boxer/Border Collie mix with a heart of gold. He is a handsome black and white boy with big warm brown eyes and a soft, expressive face. He recently started to smile, once he settled in to his foster home. Chip is a gentle soul who can be timid at first when meeting new people. He prefers to take his time getting to know someone new, and may retreat if he feels uncomfortable or overwhelmed. But once he feels safe and secure in his surroundings, he is a loyal and affectionate companion who loves nothing more than getting pets and love. Chip is a medium-sized dog who has a calmer energy level and is dog friendly without being overwhelming. Chip is also a good listener, and he responds well to positive reinforcement training techniques. With his gentle and loving nature, Chip would do well in a calm and stable home environment where he can feel safe and secure. He LOVES having access to his kennel which is where he goes to rest or decompress. Overall, Chip is a sweet and affectionate dog who would make a loyal and loving companion for the right person. With patience, love, and understanding, Chip has the potential to blossom into a confident and happy pup who will melt your heart with his gentle, loving ways. Story
Update 6.1.24 Zeke has enjoyed being outside the last few weeks with the nice weather, he has no problem going out when it is raining, wiping him off is a challenge though since he doesn't like being touched. He gets the zoomies when he comes in from outside sometimes, that is usually a sign that he has pooped. Him and our resident boxer like to play keep away, it is usually him chasing and eventually getting the toy.  Between 9-9:30 pm  he has had enough and whines to go outside and will typically put himself in his kennel letting you know that it is bedtime, although he currently is curled up in the dog bed occasionally whining because he thinks he should be in his kennel but for some reason he won't put himself to bed. My husband says that he really likes his walks and that he really only whines when he wants/needs something.    Things are going well here.  Zeke is a really good dog that is looking for his forever home.  He is a curious boy with all the Boxer attitude, and is sweet and playful and does well with our other dogs.  He loves his toys and is learning how to fetch.  The cat is not an issue for him so a home with a cat could work just fine. He is vocal when he plays and loves to play hard like a typical Boxer. Zeke loves his kennel and puts himself to bed when he is tired.  He loves to ride in the car, is independent and food and treat motivated.  He is housebroken. He isn't a fan of being touched when he's sleeping - he'll grumble and walk away. We have only had him for a few days and he is doing great.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 10, 2024, 11:30 pm

Story
Update 9.16.24 Dolly the Boxer! Dolly is the perfect little buddy for people who love dogs and want that wiggle butt greeting   you when you come home, but aren’t down for the challenge of raising a puppy or of training   a younger dog. Bonus: She lets you sleep-in in the morning!   Dolly is believed to have been a former “mill mama”/breeder and has had a difficult life but you   couldn’t tell it from her personality. One of the most affectionate and sweet dogs/boxers I’ve   ever cared for, Dolly is content to lay on the couch with you or will follow you around and help   you with whatever projects you’re working on. She loves attention and being petted   and talked to, telling her what a good girl she is. Despite what is in her past, she still has the basic   Boxer instincts of sweetness, sensitivity, loving people, and wanting to please you.   Dolly is healthy, doesn’t appear to have any allergies, is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.   Dolly will reluctantly go in her kennel but seems fine once she’s in it. I’ve left her out alone for short periods and she has done just fine. She happily sleeps in her own bed at night in your   room but would also sleep on the bed with you if you’d let her! She is potty trained but I’m training her to signal us with a jingle bell as well. She loves food and treats (is motivated to   learn with treats) and will definitely watch you eat but she’s well-mannered and I haven’t found   her to be food protective at all (I’ve had to stick my hand in her mouth to see what she found   on the floor and she didn’t resist). She also lets me pick her up and lets me clip her nails!   After being a mill dog - and who knows what else she’s been through - she is dog reactive, so   she would need to be the only dog in the home and she is also very interested in the local   rabbit population so a fenced in yard would be ideal. She is all of the best parts of a dog and a boxer and will make a snuggly (and wiggly) addition to   your family!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 10, 2024, 11:30 pm

Story
Update 9.30.24 Meet Skip!   Age:  Approximately 3 years old Personality: Sweet, affectionate, and always ready to wag his long tail—especially when he sees you! Training: Eager to learn and food-motivated but needs some additional training. He’s nervous at times with commands but really wants to please. Stranger Caution: Has some “stranger danger” when new people come to the door but is learning to calm down with training. Once he knows someone is friendly, he’s all about receiving pets! Dogs: Has done well playing with a female labradoodle. He shows interest in playing with other dogs when he sees them on walks, whining wanting to see what they are doing. He has met one other male boxer on leash but they did not hit it off. Overall I think he would do well living with another dog but just doing slow intros is always best.  Good with Kids: Lived with kids before and did great, but like many boxers, he can be overly protective over the kids. Barking at the dad when hugging kids for example. It’s important that adults establish clear leadership. Energetic & Playful: Loves walks, playing outside, and is always on the hunt for squirrels! Leash Skills: Uses a gentle leader to keep him from pulling—he’s strong and full of muscle! Cuddly: Would love to cuddle on the couch but is happy sleeping on his own bed at night. Fully Potty Trained: Skip is kennel trained during the day, as he gets nervous when left alone outside of his crate. Non-Destructive: Not destructive but will pace when anxious. Loves to sniff around, so counters should be kept clear! Perfect Companion: Skip is full of love and will make a wonderful companion for someone with patience to help him continue learning and building trust. Skip is looking for a home where he can share all his love and wiggle his way into your heart!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 10, 2024, 11:30 pm

Story
Update 9.16.24   In just over a month, Lucille (Luci) has blossomed into the incredible dog we all knew she would be!  Her start to life was not kind to her, but she has figured out that there is so much more to this world and she is ready to enjoy her next chapter with her forever family.     Luci has maintained her sweet and gentle demeanor, but has now shown us her spunky boxer side too.  When she is excited, she can wiggle with the best of them and usually gets a case of the zoomies once a day!  Luci absolutely loves playing with toys and can often be found “shopping” in the toy bin in her foster home.   Luci walks wonderfully on leash, is house trained and crate trained!   She is dog friendly, kid friendly and loves to be near her humans!  On initial introduction, Luci can be shy with men, but with a gentle touch, kind voice and perhaps a treat, this is overcome very quickly.     While Luci has come so far in just over a month, she still has much of the world to see and learn about.  She will need a forever home that is willing to slowly and confidently continue to introduce her to new places, sights and sounds, but Luci is quick to love and ready to find her forever family that she can enjoy life with!
