He will be a medium to large dog as an adult. Rubble, his mom (45 lb) and littermates were found running down access road of a highway when they were 5 weeks old. Everyone in litter and mom died of Distemper (due to owner not giving them shots). Rubble is the sole survivor. He will be special needs throughout his life. He is a very special puppy that has tons of love to give and loves all humans, children, playing with other polite /low energy dogs, playing with toys and visiting with volunteers/staff getting chicken /treats. Did we say he LOVES his humans? When he plays and does his walk abouts you do not see any affects of distemper. He is crate trained, walks on a leash and loves car rides. He will benefit from some continued obediance training and public socialization with new environmental objects. He will play, then will hang out on the couch or your lap. He requires an owned home with a securely fenced yard in a colder climate as the hot TX temperature is not conducive to his health. He is looking for a special needs mixed breed dog experienced family. He will do best with another dog companion and someone that works from home or caregiver (female) is home. No apartments. He loves to play with dogs and adores affection from his humans! Please apply now! You can always email us with any questions, give us your number and good times to call if you wish. SCOOBY is a big boy...at least 66#. His estimated DOB is 1/5/2020...so he is almost 5 yrs old. He is a such a major lover and super wonderful dog. His ears and the way he is makes us think he's got to be part hound! He is a very FUN dog and loves playing with other dogs but he perhaps might be too exuberant with small dogs. He would be a great companion dog for a large breed dog or great as an only dog. He loves everyone and just wants to play. He has not had in-house training...in a shelter with lots of dogs, the big ones don't necessarily get the royal treatment. However, he is doing well in the house and loves to be near his humans. He has been leash-trained and loves to go on walks. After he gets rid of the initial excitement about going out, he walks gently on the leash. I do not trust him with a cat. If it runs, he will chase. He sees them as lots of fun. Scooby would be great with a family with older children. Smaller children would possibly get knocked down during playtime? He has zero aggression whatsoever. He has lived out in the country his whole life and doesn't bother the horses or chickens but will chase the cat occasionally. He has done well with people, the neighbors kids, and the neighbors dogs as well. He doesn't have many trained behaviors and those he does have are rusty due to his owner having cancer this last year. Buddy has a lot of love to give.
