Our pets are physically located and fostered in NC until adopted. Once adopted we can transport to you or meet 1/2 way for the cost of our gas. We are 5 1/2 hrs west of Virginia Beach. Our pets are physically located and fostered in NC until adopted. Once adopted we can transport to you. We have a cost effective transporter that has stops in most north eastern states. Transport runs every 2 weeks. Please note! Don't just apply just because this dog has a cheap adopt fee. You must prove you can afford to adopt regardless! I find that most of the folks who apply for my reduced fee dogs back out when they realize they are still responsible for the transport fee. If this applies to you please don't waste our time! To the VA Beach area we can transport to your location for $200 or we can do halfway for $100. This will cover just my gas with today's high gas prices. You are welcome to drive to us in Mt.Airy, NC to pick up! Scarlett was born 2-1-21. Her mom was a german shepherd golden mix. We are not positive what dad was. Scarlett is active and very loving. She is good with people and ok with other dogs her size. She is too playful for small dogs. She needs a large dog only home. She is not good with cats. She needs an active home with room to run. She would not do well in a cramped up apartment with no exercise. She is house trained and crate trained, This baby will go home spayed and current on vaccinations, deworming, flea preventives, started on heartworm prevention and microchipped. This pup will receive a health certificate issued by our vet prior to going home. The adopter will get all his health records with the adoption. We require a prescreen application to apply. You can get that on our main website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
Meet Meraki! Meraki is such a special lady! She is super quiet, very timid at first but blossoms when she has a doggie friend to hang and play with. We are unsure about cats because she has never met one! Meraki loves her toys, belly rubs and just being near her human and dog friends. Meraki lived her prior life in a pen with not much human contact, only dogs so she will require patience and understanding BUT she is so worth it! If you would like to meet Meraki, please go to our website at k9newlife.org and fill out our online adoption application! * all of our dogs are in individual foster homes so an appointment must be made for a meet and greet

Story
Herbie is a lovable 70-pound Boxer mix with a heart full of gold. About a year old, he was found wandering the back roads of Tennessee without a collar or microchip, battling a tough case of mange. While no one has come forward to claim him, Herbie is now looking for his forever family! His skin is healing beautifully, and his sweet, curious nature shines through more each day. ‍&#226&#153&#130&#239&#184&#143 Herbie enjoys his daily walks and is getting better at leash manners. He’s also learning to curb his excitement when greeting people! He’s great with other dogs and, after playtime, is happy to sit quietly by your side. He hasn’t been tested with cats or kids yet, but we think his gentle personality would be a great match for the right home! Critter Cavalry Rescue is a Middle Tennessee-based 501(c)(3) that travels to the Northeast states weekly, helping high-risk homeless animals like Herbie find loving homes. For more info on our mission, adoption fees, and drop-off points, visit us at CritterCavalry.com! &#226&#156&#168 Could your family be the one Herbie's been waiting for? &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to request an adoption application.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 4, 2024, 11:48 pm

Story
Chubs is an 8 year old pit bull/boxer mix that has been nothing but loving and caring his entire life with me. I have had him for 6 years and he loves play, snuggle, relax and play outside. He is great with people in any environment and very welcoming to strangers he does not know as long as known people are around him. He is best to be a single dog in a household. He is very playful with other dogs and simply doesn’t understand when other dogs dont want to play in a home setting. I have very demanding hours and have been unable to spend the time and love on Chubs these past few years that he deserves. Its with a heavy heart that I decided to go this route but it is what is best for him and I hate seeing him just lounging on the couch, knowing someone with the time can give him the life he deserves. I am not requesting any fees or compensation….. I simply just want to know chubs will be taken care of and if possible given updates here and there on his life.

Story
They say there is someone for everyone in this world. And at the Shelter, we like to believe that for our dogs as well. And we cling to that thought for our dogs as it gives us hope. And sometimes, hope is all we have for them.Such is the case with our beloved Odie Cakes. He is an amazing dog - fast, perceptive, adorable, loving and devoted. But, he also is very prey driven. And sometimes, when he gets overexcited, he reacts quickly, without thinking.Odie found a home but the atmosphere was just a bit too much for him. Despite the best efforts of the adopter, he realized he could not slow down the pace of his life enough to calm Odie. The BEST news is that since being back with us, Odie has been fabulous. He loves all the volunteers, he has a pal in our Finn (with just through the fence play) and he greets each day and each person with happiness.Odie's days are very calm and predictable at the Shelter and that's what gives him the calmness and peace he needs. Odie doesn't need constant activities or other dogs - Odie just needs a person who will live life with him in a somewhat boring manner. We know Odie's person is out there somewhere. He is so loved by us all and we want nothing more for him than to live his life in happy home. Please SHARE Odie's story so we can reach as many people as possible - maybe his forever person has been searching for him and just didn't know Odie was waiting at our Shelter!Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Hello I'm Thor! I may have the name of a superhero but deep down I just want to be loved. Since I lost my family Ive had a tough time. I lost my home after my original family went through an unforeseen tragedy and I was left without food or water for a week. I was very depressed for a long time and lived in a kennel for a while. I’ve been in and out of a couple foster homes but I haven't found my forever home yet. I know the right one is out there! I have been moved around a few times so I get really anxious in new homes. I need someone who is patient and is willing to give me a chance. I have a big heart and lots of love to share. My favorite hobbies? I like rolling in the grass, riding in the car, walks, yup-walks and more walks along with snuggling. It is my favorite “downtime” thing to do. Oh and I love to keep watch out the window. If you are busy, I am happy just to be around and watch, or nap, while you do human things. I have had some obedience work while living with fosters. I’ve learned to be crated. I really don't like it but a tasty treat will get me inside and once I'm in its naptime. I walk like a gentleman on the leash, but I do get excited seeing other dogs. I can be a little stubborn at times but I do well with firm but gentle verbal correction. What am I looking for in a home? I would prefer to be an only dog, so I can have all the attention. I get along with a lot of other dogs but not every dog. I have instantly loved every human female I have ever met, but not all men. I do have some favorite men in my life though. I just need to go slow with new guys. Trust is really important to me. My biggest need is to have a the security of a home and humans that give me love and attention. If you want a dog that will offer you his friendship and love for life. I’m your guy! Story
Winnie has been waiting a while for her forever home and decided to take matters into her own paws. Her Tinder Profile: Sweet, affectionate girl seeks loving home with lots of treats, walks and car rides. I'm an intelligent, friendly, goofy 5 yr old American Bulldog. I'm spayed and UTD on all my wellness and vaccinations. I do have hypothyroidism but it is easily managed with 2 inexpensive medications. I get along with most dogs. Cats are ok if the are aloof but no young children please (older teenagers are ok). I have had basic obedience and excel at that. My leash manners are impeccable and I love my walks. We can help keep each other healthy! My foster mom says I have big personality and need firm but gentle handling. I am a foodie though, and very treat motivated. I have to be honest and telI you I have had rare incidents of resource guarding. It has happened when I have been able to steel your stuff. It is not uncommon behavior in dogs and manageable with strategizing and behavior modification. I have lots of love and laughs to offer an experienced dog owner that is willing to give me a chance. My adoption fee is $100 to help cover cost for other rescue dogs like me. A free training session is included. Thanks for reading. I hope to hear from you! ***LONG TIMER SPECIAL ELIGIBLE! In an effort to help our “Long-Timers” out of the shelter and into forever homes, adoption fees through the end of the year will be $0 for any animal who has been at the shelter for 6+ months. No adoption event or special fee weekend necessary!*** Amill- adult (5 to 8 year old) neutered male pit mix, 65 pounds, house trained, crate trained, good with dogs, not good with cats, good with kids, living in a foster home and has perfect house manners, really sweet affectionate dog. Amill has been living in a foster home for a couple months and he has shown what an awesome dog he is.  This boy is house trained, crate trained, has great house manners (other than barking at animals outside the window) and according to his foster mom, has been a pleasure to have in her home.  He loves car rides and is super friendly with everyone he meets.  He’s been great with the other dogs in the home and has shown no issues with toys and food with the other dogs or with the humans in the home.  He is a velcro dog who is super affectionate.  He is a pretty chill guy who doesn’t require much exercise, so he would be a great dog for a couch potato.  He loves to cuddle on the couch with you while you watch tv.  He does get bursts of energy where he runs around the house and he does like an occasional game of tug of war.  Amill likes taking walks although he can be quite leash reactive when he sees other dogs, which is something his future family will need to be willing to work on.  Other than his leash issues, he really is a perfect dog. Amill has the most beautiful brindle coat and the softest fur!  Amill had several lumps removed recently that came back as mast cell tumors.  After consulting with an oncologist, we were assured these were low grade tumors and they should cause no further issues.  It it common for mct to reoccur, so his future family should be willing and financially able to deal with this if need be.  Amill is an awesome boy and would make an excellent addition to almost any family.  If you would like to meet him, call the shelter at 757-385-4444 or you can email his foster mom directly at karenrph@gmail.com.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 2, 2024, 6:29 pm
