Story
Puppy dog eyes overload! Max knows just how to melt your heart with his eyes. All love and sweetness from this boy. He is happy, well behaved and so smart. He loves to be outside and romp around then come inside and relax on his bed. He is very friendly and also a little shy at the same time. He prefers to just stay home and chill vs going out on car rides and adventures. He says leave me at home but don't be gone long because I'm just patiently waiting for you to come home. So...he's not one to go run and jump in the car when the door opens. House trained, dog friendly and lives with cats. His owner was admitted to assisted living and sweet Max was too big to make the move and thus found himself looking for new home that will love him for all the love he has to give! All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, micochipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Puppies adopted under the age of five months require a spay/neuter contract, and all dogs are required to be spayed by six months unless otherwise medically noted. Our dogs are currently on heartworm preventative. Puppies receive 3 to 4 rounds of vaccinations depending on their age, and adults receive two rounds unless they've been with us longer than a year, in which case they receive the booster update. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at www.dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application, please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Story
I’m making this post on behalf of my father, who no longer wants Astro. My father adopted Astro 2-3 years ago, seeking companionship. However, he did not do his research on boxers and their energy levels. He was expecting a very laidback dog, and is not willing to meet Astro’s needs. Instead of catering to Astro (taking him on walks, playing with him, etc), he keeps Astro in his kennel all day every day, and doesn’t let him roam the house anymore. At this point, I don’t even think Astro is “high energy.” I think he’s just stir crazy from being pent up in his kennel all of the time. Also, my father does not know how to potty train him and isn’t attentive enough to let him outside to use the bathroom when he needs to go. As a result, Astro ends up defacating and urinating in his cage often. PLEASE help me find this sweet boy a more suitable and loving home. All of the shelters nearby are full.

Story
Midnight is a playful love bug Pit mix that is 1 year old and weights about 50 Lbs. He was rescued from a crowded shelter where he was overlooked, and no one understands why. Midnight is an amazing boy!   Midnight does great with other dogs and is currently living in a foster home with 4 other large breed foster siblings! Midnight is a respectful playmate with the other dogs in the home and has done great with kids in the teen age years. He has never shared a home with cats so that would be a new experience for him. Midnight loves to snuggle and lay in your lap to catch a nap and when his foster siblings are to tired to play Midnight is perfectly fine entertaining himself with his toys. Midnight loves attention and being a part of a family! By the way Midnight is also great on a leash, crate trained, and house broken and neutered, current on his basic vaccines including his rabies vaccine, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Midnight is a very strong dog and will need a secure fence and watch for open doors. He's one of our Diamond Dogs with a reduced adoption fee of $125.You can apply to meet/adopt him here:https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/ . Once you submit your application the foster will be in touch with details on next steps to add Midnight to your family! We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
This adorable little of pups was found in the woods shortly after Christmas. They were taken in for safe keeping and the family who found them reached out to LHS for assistance placing them in their forever homes.  These puppies are  all working on their house training and crate training. Because they are just pups, they will need a home with the time and patience to teach them how to be the best doggies they can be. Because they are a herding breed, they are not recommended to be adopted to homes with small children as they will herd the children instinctively and many miss interpret this as nipping and or aggressive behavior. But in reality, it is what they are bred to do. They do wonderful with cats and dogs and all shapes and sizes.   Their adoption fee includes their spay/neuter (completed at 4 months of age), 3 sets of vaccinations, rabies, first dose of heartworm prevention, dewormer, microchip and microchip registration. If you are interested in adopting this adorable pup, please complete an online application today at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap. DOB: 11/26/24 Weight: Approx 45lbs when full grown   We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.
