Story
** Please read to the end to learn how to adopt! Brady is an adorable and affectionate Boxer mix who is eager to find his forever home.  He has turned out to be THE best boy and is loved by everyone that meets him!   He is an intelligent dog who is good with other dogs and is loyal to those around him. Brady has been fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and tested Negative for heartworms!!   He was about 62 pounds when rescued from the streets, and he is still thin.  We believe he is approximately 2 years old, maybe less.  He sometimes still urinates like a puppy and he's so curious about Everything... sneaks up on anything unfamiliar.  It's so cute to watch! Brady is house-trained and he knows 'sit.'  He takes treats very gently from your hand and will give you big kisses in return.  He's playful, but will chill with you on the couch, too ! Brady is good with other dogs and children.  He's an all-around great dog and has many years ahead to fill your life with love and fun!   If you're looking for a sweet and friendly dog, Brady is the one for you!    Please apply to Foster OR Adopt Brady by completing the online application you will find near his photos on our website,  www.BaytownHumaneSociety.org

Story
Thor is a 6 year old Boxer mix and is a super sweet boy who loves his people. He was in a home with kids and another dog and did very well. The owner returned Thor due to a lack of time, and through no fault of his own, Thor has come back to the shelter. Upon entry, he was a bit fearful, especially of men. The Behavior Team worked with Thor and he has now learned to trust staff and volunteers, men as well as women. In fact, he is now best friends with a male volunteer who he was fearful of at first. Thor gets along well with other dogs and has become quite the social butterfly with both people and dogs. He loves going on walks and playing games with his dog and human friends. When he wags his tail, his entire lower body moves in unison. Thor loves to show off his `Sit` for a treat! He is just a great little guy, loved by everyone!

Story
Hello! I'm Tucker! I am a big, sweet boy and around a year old. My breed is a little bit of a mystery but maybe I have some Bull Terrier or Hound in me. No matter what my breed is I definitely have some cool colors to my fur! I was found wandering the cold streets but now I'm safe and sound in a loving foster home. I am potty trained, crate trained, and currently working on my manners with my foster dad, I know "Sit"! I am young and large so a home without little kids might be best so that I don't accidentally knock them over. I get along great with other dogs! I am looking for my furever home...maybe you have a spot for me? If you are interested in me, please send an email to us! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! All dogs typically show on Saturdays at the Petco in Clear Lake as well. 2410 Bay Area Blvd near Space Center.   Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas.November 3, 2024, 11:08 am

Story
Hi, my name is Perla and I, along with my sibling Kona, were found as strays.  Everyone notices my beautiful eye "makeup" and pretty ear freckles.  My foster says I'm so cuddly and loving.  I love to snuggle and get tummy rubs.  I'm playful and will gently bite your hands or play with my stuffed toys. I'm still young, estimated DOB 1/31/2024 and may have some Pitty in my ancestry. I'm learning so much now that I'm at home with other dogs and I love everyone. No kids or cats at my foster home but I'd probably do OK with them if they can put up with my puppy antics. I love to (gently) bite your hand, be held and petted, give kisses, and play with stuffed toys until I drop.  I'm doing great on my potty training as long as you can take me out often.  I know what a potty pad is for (play toy is one of its uses!). I'm in a crate but I have a time limit of about 8 hours and then I will need some together time with either my family or other dogs outside of the crate.  I'm smart as a whip and LOVE treats so I'm a quick learner. I'm just a puppy and can get into a lot of trouble so you'll need to be willing to give me lots of gentle guidance, so I can learn all those big dog things, like how to behave in a house, how to walk on a leash without pulling, how to stand still while getting groomed and all those verbal commands every dog should know. I may even treat people like I treat my sibling with rough play or decide that a new pair of shoes or a table leg would make a great chew toy, so a lot of appropriate toys should be in my future. The good news is that with the right training and LOTS of love, I'll be the best addition to your family ever and your best bud. If you are interested in me, please send an email to us! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! Story
Meet Cocoa And Here's COCOA!! Cocoa is a 4 1/2 year old yellow lab/pit mix. She is so full of love and enjoys being with her person. Cocoa loves car rides, having fun on her foster fur siblings birthdays and being outside. She is always happy and you can tell by the way she wiggles her tail and body. She enjoys playing tug o war and catch. Cocoa is kennel trained, knows basic commands and is potty trained. Cocoa is already spayed, up to date on all vaccines and flea/tick prevention. She has received a Proheart 12 injection for heartworm prevention. Cocoa did come to us with heartworms and is currently being treated. Note: The above bio on the dog reflects the behavior we have observed in the dog's foster home. We provide adopters current information on our dogs; we cannot guarantee they will behave in the same manner in a different environment with new owners. Since they are rescue dogs we guess breed of looks. Our adoption fees vary, according to species, size, age and other issues. Discounts apply in some cases. Our adoption fee covers dewormed, heartworm tested (if over 6 months), started on heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, vaccinated for bordetella, dhppv, rabies (if age appropriate) and microchipped as well as spay/neuter at our preapproved vets. All puppies not altered due to age will under a foster to adopt contract until completed and an additional deposit of $100 will be required- deposit will be refunded upon completion of surgery. We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who understand- these are rescue dogs, they will need time to decompress, routine and stability. We put our lives into saving these dogs- we expect their new families to be prepared for a lifetime commitment before applying- dogs are not recyclable. Please do not send an email inquiring about a dog. Please fill out the adoption application found at https://www.rangersreach.org/ We are 100% volunteer ran we try as hard as we can to get through applications as fast as possible.
