My story Here's what the humans have to say about me: Meet Jewel! Jewel was in a small rural shelter in La Joya, Texas on the border of Mexico. She was picked up as a stray with her 5 cute little happy puppies. We think she is a boxer/terrier mix, 50lbs and around 3 years old. She has beautiful eyes that look through your soul. And her underbite smile is everything! Jewel is a jewel! A true gem. She is super friendly, happy, loving and wonderful! She has never met a stranger and gets along great with other dogs. She has a playful side, but she isn't overboard, and loves loves loves being with people. Our van was totally full on our last trip to the border, but we just could not leave her and her puppies behind, after her heart felt yodel in the kennel. Must watch her video. She is a great dog, with a wonderful happy future full of love and fun to give to the right family. It’s only a matter of time before he finds a good fit. Initially thought to be a Border Collie mix, Skechers has definitely filled out at just under nine months old. We think he must be mixed with a much larger breed, and will likely surpass 50 pounds once fully grown. That said, he still exhibits the athleticism and eagerness to please that Border Collies are known for. He is just a little larger and more huggable than your average doggo! Skechers is ready to show off the manners he’s learned in foster care. He is potty-trained, leash-trained and friendly towards other dogs. He has even gotten the hang of basic commands like “sit,” “come” and “no”! Meet Bertha Say hello to Bertha! Bertha is a beautiful Boxer mix who is approximately 1.5 to 2 years old and currently weighs 40 pounds. She ended up in the dog pound, along the border of Mexico! All of the Animal Control Officers loved her, and as us to please help!! We are very happy we were able to rescue her and help her find a forever home! Bertha is a very happy and playful gal! She gets along well with the other dogs in her playgroup at her foster home. They have a great time playing and exploring together shes a smart girl who learns quickly and wants love and attention so badly! She craves being with people and loves life to the fullest! Bertha is in a foster home with one of our wonderful vet techs and a trainer! She is doing fantastic, extremely smart, learning so much and just a wonderful happy girl! Very proud of her, and she has the cutest face ever! I cannot say how much I love this dog, and she is so ready for her very own family! *Bertha tested positive for Chagas disease and has started her treatment. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs. Oakley loves car rides, snacks, and cuddles! She is the sweetest dog despite her tough appearance. She needs a loving home who will allow her to be inside and not get mad if she wants to snuggle on the couch. She can be nervous around other dogs, and does have a high prey drive around cats and other small animals, but she does well enough to go on walks or get her nails done at the pet store. We got her as a puppy and are devastated to have to find her a new home, but she has been stressed and not given the attention she deserves with new babies at home. We hope to find her a good home who will love her as much as we do.
