Chief was surrendered to the shelter. He is friendly towards dogs and children. He has never been around cats, chickens, or livestock. Chief was housetrained and would whine at the door to go outside. He was also crate trained. His favorite thing to do is dig for moles! He loves to dig in general and hide his bones. He is not picky with toys- anything will do… but he would prefer hunting for moles over playing with toys any day. He also enjoys going for walks and going hunting. Chief is very smart and knows commands like ‘sit’ and ‘shake’. The previous owner stated that he is sweet and loyal. He is gentle and doesn’t have too much energy. He has enough energy to make him fun to be around, but not so much energy that he is a burden.

He’s a big fan of cuddling, getting attention, and of course, mealtime! He yodels and chortles with excitement when he wants your attention. Journey has been at the rescue for close to 3 years! Despite his lengthy stay he has continued to be incredibly sweet and affectionate. He is not only friendly towards humans, but also plays well with other dogs, making him an ideal companion for a multi-dog household. He is playful - loves toys. They call me Exuberant, Handsome and Sweet but you can choose a new name for me when we adopt each other. I don’t care what you call me, as long as you call me. I’m a happy dog who loves people more than anything else in the world. I’m a 4+ year old mix, with a 22” collar and am very big and strong. The Vet said I weigh 73 pounds. Don’t let that scare you because I am just a mushy ball of love. I like to let everyone know how happy I am to see them by twirling around and wagging my tail as fast as it will go. This is usually when they call me Exuberant. I like to have fun. I’m such a good boy and I have good potty manners. I prefer being inside with people at night especially. Since I have a lot of energy and need exercise, your large fenced yard will be well-used. My foster peeps say I need a family, not a job. They know that I’m a quick learner and will be someone’s best dog ever. Because I’m big and young at heart, my new humans should have some experience with dogs and be able to work with someone of my stature. I promise I will try to do everything you ask enthusiastically. I don’t like loud booming noises (fireworks or dynamite) or gunfire but neither do most of my friends. Health wise, I am terrific; up to date on shots and tested negative for heartworms.
