BRING COOKIES. WE CAN BE FRIENDS! Hi, I'm Dot, Dottie, Doodles--they call me lots of goofy names because I'm a  goofball! I've been playing with the wonderful ladies at Winding Lane Kennels and, although I love them to  pieces, I'd really like to have my own family. They say that I have "stranger danger" issues, but I just require that new people bring me cookies! Think of it as a friendship offering and I'll be your new best friend. :) I've been working with my lovely trainer and she says I'm a quick learner. I DO love to please people. I like to cuddle, but at 60 lb. I may be too big for your lap. I get the zoomies ALL the time! Everyone cracks up and secretly takes videos. I love hunting lizards and bugs and will run off those weird-looking tree dogs with the fuzzy tails. So I would be happiest with a fenced yard in which to do my zoomies! Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  *Due to rescuer being very ill, all her dogs are in desperate need!!!   Kallie is a six year old, large boxer/Shar Pei mix that is desperate for a family to love. She loves the company of other dogs but sadly, cannot be left alone with them because things from her unfortunate past trigger a fight or flight response towards other dogs. She would be very happy to be your one and only furry love. She is absolutely amazing with all people and has great manners, keeping “4 paws on the floor” and sitting patiently for snacks! Because of her mature demeanor, we think Kallie would do best in a home that is mildly active. She loves to roll around and lay out on the couch but also enjoys walks with her favorite people! *Guest Posting**Due to Kallie's 'fight or flight' response towards other dogs, small children are not advised   If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. November 1, 2024, 8:13 pm

Maliboo is a medium/large (50 lbs), five year old, Boxer/Staffordshire mix. Maliboo has been placed and returned and abandoned by many different people in his lifetime and has suffered deeply because of it. He is now finally back on his feet and feeling better with his fosters and ready to finally be placed with his perfect people. He has a very hard time trusting other dogs and should be the only pet in the house because of the unfortunate situations he has been put in. Being left alone with other dogs that are not dog-friendly has traumatized him. He has a very low prey drive and while he loves to zoom around when he gets excited, he will not be chasing anyone’s cat! Maliboo would do best in a home with older children. He has picked up some peculiar behaviors in all the interesting situations he’s been in, including being very vocal when he feels a little zoomey! He grunts and howls and talks and gallops all over the place! Seeing him express himself in silly ways has been such a relief for his fosters after seeing him depressed for so long. We would love to see him loved and happy in his new home. *Guest Posting If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. My best friend, Fluffy, and I were allowed to wander the streets. Our owner just didn't care. Fluffy was pregnant at the time. Our rescuer begged for her to be able to come into rescue. So, our owner dumped Fluffy and unexpectedly and luckily dumped me too! I am absolutely adorable with the cutest underbite that makes me look like I am forever smiling. We are both about three to four years old and I weigh about thirty-five pounds. We are the friendliest duo and are exceptionally loving! We adore people and other doggies. We do love children but Fluffy can get excitable, so small children may get overwhelmed. We are true buddies. You will always find us hanging out together. I'm a young man that is about 13 months old and that is about 40 to 45lbs. So, this is where you come in. I'm an active boy that would LOVE an active family. Someone that likes going out for a good run would be right up my alley. I would also enjoy having a doggie friend to play with in a good secured fenced in yard. I'm a loving boy that would be all about hanging out with my family or going on activities with them. I love people and other doggies but I haven't been around kitties. So, I don't know about that. I am crate trained too. My current home isn't very active, so I get board and chew things. If I have other things to do, I'd probably be much better about that and some correction of my behavior would go a long way. I get put in the back yard sometimes and it's just a decorative fence, so again, I get board and I leave because I can. Now, I'm being boarded at a vet's office and I'm in a crate most of the time. This is torture! Well, I'm looking for that active family that will love me for the awesome boy that I am. I hope that you are looking for me. Story
We rescued Lucy back in 2015. The back story we got on her animal control found here wandering near some train tracks with a muzzle on. We took her home got her some basic obedience training and she has been a great dog since. Currently I believe she is around 11 years old but in great medical health and will be going to the vet soon to get her heartworm testing and preventatives. She would probably do best in a house with no children and she's ok with most dogs however as with most dogs they would probably need to meet before deciding if the house has a dog. She likes walking on the leash, she loves car rides and has even done well on the few longs trips she has been on in the car. She enjoys going outside in the backyard several times a day to potty and run zoomies. She is not a fan of nail trims and also has a rough time going to the vet usually requires some medications to help her relax and bring down her anxiety.
