Stanley Update 🤍 Several weeks ago, we found Stanley lying on the side of the road after being hit by a car. He was in terrible shape, and we truly believe that if we hadn’t stopped, he would have died a slow and horrible death. We immediately got him to safety, and he’s been recovering in foster care with our director ever since. When Stanley came to us, he was incredibly sick and severely emaciated. He has virtually no teeth left in his mouth and was so thin that we had to be extremely careful about refeeding syndrome, meaning he now gets three small meals a day along with multiple medications to help him safely gain weight and heal. Last week we noticed something concerning — his breathing effort had increased and he wasn’t as interested in food as he normally is. For a dog who came to us starving, that was a huge red flag. We rushed him to our incredible veterinary partners at Charleston Veterinary Referral Center where they performed radiographs and had a cardiologist evaluate him. The tests showed that Stanley has Pulmonary Hypertension. Thankfully he is not in heart failure right now, but it is something we will have to monitor closely moving forward. His x-rays also told a heartbreaking story. Scattered throughout his body were dozens of BBs — in his chest, on his front legs, and over a hundred in the back half of his body. At some point in his life, someone used him for target practice. Despite everything he’s endured, Stanley has remained the sweetest, most gentle soul. He loves people and does well with other dogs, and all he seems to want is kindness. Stanley has survived so much already — and we’re determined to give him the chance he’s always deserved. While Stanley is not currently available due to medical needs we hope everyone can follow his story and watch him become the dog he deserves to be. When Stanley is medically cleared we will be looking for the most amazing home for this special boy

Meet Reese’s Pieces 🍬🐾 To say Reese’s is an incredible dog still feels like an understatement. From the moment we met her, she’s been nothing short of amazing. Reese’s came to us from one of our rural shelter partners heavily pregnant, and not long after arriving in foster care, she welcomed the sweetest little family. We’ve been calling them our Candy Litter—and they’ve grown into the most adorable bunch you could imagine. With a mix of gorgeous brindle pups and some beautiful solid colors, this crew is full of both boys and girls, each one sweeter than the last. Now at 7 weeks old and turning 8 weeks this Saturday 4/11/2026, they’ve blossomed into playful, loving puppies and are officially ready to find their forever homes. 🍫🐾 Reese’s continues to be the most wonderful mama. She’s gentle, affectionate, and great with other dogs—even after raising her babies with so much care and love. Watching her thrive in foster care has been such a joy. We are so incredibly grateful for the amazing foster homes who make stories like Reese’s possible. Her foster family has given her and her candy crew everything they need, surrounding them with love as they’ve grown stronger each day. 💛 Now the time has come—these sweet puppies are ready to start their next chapter with families of their own.
