Carrie is approx. 2 years old and 40 pounds. Kelly came from a rural NC shelter when she was just 3 months old. She has now been in rescue for almost 2 years. She is still very skittish and Leary of people. Therefore, she will need a very patient adopter. Carrie is also available to be fostered. Carrie is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. Please keep in mind that our dogs are shelter dogs. We have little if any information about their prior history. We can only tell you what we have witnessed since coming in to the rescue. Please be patient and prepared to train / retrain your new family member. Our pets need time to decompress once they are in a new home. if you have not heard of the 333 Rule, please google it. It will help you understand what your new rescue dog is going through. WE DO NOT HAVE CATS. THEREFORE WE CAN NOT TELL YOU IF ANY OF OUR PUPS ARE COMPATIBLE WITH CATS. Anyone looking for a smush face, unicorn? Layla , the boxer mix, is good with big dogs, little dogs, cats and kids. She loves balls and toys and is an all around great dog. Riding in the car seems to stress her some. But honestly if you are looking for the perfect dog Layla is your girl. OUR PETS ARE SHELTER PETS. Have you ever seen a boxer with a tail!? We haven’t either until we rescued sweet Ike. He was found as a stray and all proper steps were taken to find his owners and no one came forward. Ike is your typical happy go lucky Boxer. He is a big goof ball. He seems to get along great with all the dogs big and small. We don’t have cats so unsure on that. He loves playing with toys and is getting pretty darn good a fetch. We think Ike is around a year old or less and 45 pounds. Ike is vaccinated, chipped, neutered, and ready for his “Furever” home. Joey is 2 years old. He is a very lovable dog with all ages of humans, cats and other dogs. He loves the dog park and playing fetch. He also loves swimming and playing in water. He definitely needs a yard to run and someone to give him attention and love. We sadly have to move from a house to an apartment and are unable to take him with us.

Stanley Update 🤍 Several weeks ago, we found Stanley lying on the side of the road after being hit by a car. He was in terrible shape, and we truly believe that if we hadn’t stopped, he would have died a slow and horrible death. We immediately got him to safety, and he’s been recovering in foster care with our director ever since. When Stanley came to us, he was incredibly sick and severely emaciated. He has virtually no teeth left in his mouth and was so thin that we had to be extremely careful about refeeding syndrome, meaning he now gets three small meals a day along with multiple medications to help him safely gain weight and heal. Last week we noticed something concerning — his breathing effort had increased and he wasn’t as interested in food as he normally is. For a dog who came to us starving, that was a huge red flag. We rushed him to our incredible veterinary partners at Charleston Veterinary Referral Center where they performed radiographs and had a cardiologist evaluate him. The tests showed that Stanley has Pulmonary Hypertension. Thankfully he is not in heart failure right now, but it is something we will have to monitor closely moving forward. His x-rays also told a heartbreaking story. Scattered throughout his body were dozens of BBs — in his chest, on his front legs, and over a hundred in the back half of his body. At some point in his life, someone used him for target practice. Despite everything he’s endured, Stanley has remained the sweetest, most gentle soul. He loves people and does well with other dogs, and all he seems to want is kindness. Stanley has survived so much already — and we’re determined to give him the chance he’s always deserved. While Stanley is not currently available due to medical needs we hope everyone can follow his story and watch him become the dog he deserves to be. When Stanley is medically cleared we will be looking for the most amazing home for this special boy

Larry has been at the sanctuary since April of 2022. He came in with another dog who was assumed to have been Larry`s real sibling. He was a very friendly outgoing dog, very different from Larry. Larry was standoffish and would bark at you. Larry is still pretty much the same but once you know him, there`s just something about him that really grabs at your heart. To the average person, Larry can come off rather intimidating. He`s a large boy with piercing eyes (he`s stunning) but the barking keeps potential adopters at bay. We know that he`s a special boy who very much wants to bond with that one person he can call his own. Someone to spend quality time with, in a calm environment. Larry has lived with other dogs here at the sanctuary and has done fine.--

Popcorn was brought into the sanctuary as a stray and we could tell she had recently been nursing puppies. She was a bit timid at first, but now her personality has bloomed into a playful and loving gal. She wants to crawl onto your lap and love you.
