**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Rayden. I'm about 4 years old and I weigh about 70 lbs. My friend Tripp and I were left here at the pound in a kennel overnight, so nobody here really knows where we came from or what our back story is. I am a very sweet, playful and affectionate girl. I have done well with both the other dogs and the cats here at the pound. I am a smart girl and I listen pretty well for the most part. I have the cutest little way of sitting and lifting my paw to beg for treats. I am pretty clean in my kennel, but I do have occasional accidents. I may need a little work with housebreaking, but I do appears to have been a housedog in the past. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
My wife and I were excited to adopt Inverness last March and welcome her into our family. Since that time, both of our work schedules have become more demanding, making it very difficult to give Inverness the attention that she needs. She is very high energy, and loves to run around the yard. She is crate trained, and house-trained, going potty outside before each meal and once again 2 hours after. We have had her on a vegetarian diet since we got her, and she's thriving on it.

Story
Meet Jamison This poor boy was adopted from the rescue as a puppy. A couple years later he was returned due to a divorce. He came back to the shelter scared of new people and unsure of dogs. The volunteers worked with him to build his confidence back up and he was adopted again to only be returned a year later due to another separation. This poor guy has succumb to the shelter life and really needs a hero. - About 4 years old - Walks great on a leash - Keeps his kennel clean - Loves peanut butter and to snuggle - Best as an only pet at this time - Might take a few meets to warm up to some new people but once he is bonded with you, he will love you for life - Graduated from Confidence building and reactivity classes. - Older kids - A quiet home with little traffic who understands his needs If interested in fostering or adopting Jamison, apply at www.everydogmattersrescue.org Located in Youngstown, Ohio
